* ExecutiveMeddling: The most highly-criticized aspects of this story arc can ultimately be traced to this. The management at IDW wanted to have a VillainTeamUp, but Creator/{{Hasbro}} prevented the writers from using some of the villains they had originally wanted. This resulted in Iron Will, the Flim Flam Brothers and Lightning Dust being included on the villain team, and the entire team-up storyline getting ditched after the second issue. Hasbro also required the comic to say that Princess Amore isn't dead and can be restored to life if all of her shards are recovered.

* CreatorsPet: Radiant Hope. Most fans ''hated'' her in this comic for being a naive, easily manipulated fool who stood by letting Sombra petrify Celestia and Luna and not speaking against anything he was doing until the last issue. Then it came out where Jeremy Whitley (writer for both this arc and Sombra's ''Fiendship is Magic'' issue) [[https://derpibooru.org/1046785?scope=scpe23e2c879c74741d420bcdebad6a5c34c36de9881 made a series of tweets]] that carry the implication he considers Hope a stronger, more heroic character than Twilight, because she stood by her friend when he was turned evil, a trial Twilight has never had to deal with.
