These are not trivia tropes. Some of them are just straight up troping real people, which we don't do. Moved objective tropes to respective pages. I cut a lot of Pragmatic Adaptation since it's not "changes between the works", it's "changes that made the adaptation easier".

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Neil is depicted in TheMovie as the super-nice one who shows genuine sympathy for Jeffrey and questions the "Fan Club's" treatment of him (even apologizing to Jeff at the prom). However, Backderf has expressed [[https://myfrienddahmer.blogspot.com/ bemusement over this]], recalling Neil in RealLife as actually being ''one of the biggest jerks'' concerning Dahmer (worse than Derf could ever be). Also, the whole "crank-calling Mr. Burlman" bit was ''Neil & Kent's'' idea.
-->''Unfortunately, Marc’s screenplay makes me even more of an asshole than in the book, and elevates me to the evil mastermind of the Burlman pranks. In reality, it was Neil behind virtually all of it. Neil, in the screenplay, is described as the “most empathetic” of the group and a reluctant participant in the gags. Both Mike and I shook our heads and laughed at that. It was Neil who, at Jeff’s urging, came to the Dahmer house when Burlman was due for a visit, and hid in the coat closet to hear Stan in action. As I write in the footnotes, adult Neil carries around a great deal of regret and shame over his teenage antics. The fourth primary member of the fan club, Kent, has been written out of the script altogether, a great relief to me since the real Kent, who I also still count as a close friend, is aghast at any link at all to the Dahmer story. Kent was also a primary force in the Burlman pranks. I really didn’t participate much in those, although I certainly parroted the cerebral palsy schtick. Like I said, not our finest hour. I’m sure this is going to be quite uncomfortable for me to watch on the screen.''
* AdaptationNameChange: A number of supporting characters' names are not what they were in RealLife. ''Lloyd Figg'' was not really "Lloyd Figg", Oliver Zlatka (Jeff's Neil Sedaka-loving sort-of-friend from early in the film) may or may not have existed and Cindy Zlatka (the suicide discussed in the fishing scene) likely didn't go by that name. "Neil" and "Kent" were likely also pseudonyms (only John/Derf and Mike go by their real names). The girl who was Jeffrey Dahmer's prom date was really named Bridget Geiger [[note]]Though it's unknown if "Geiger" is her married or maiden name[[/note]], not "Brenda".
* AdaptedOut: Derf's friend Kent in TheMovie. This is likely due to simplifying the film's narrative, and the fact that Kent in RealLife wanted to wash his hands of the whole "Dahmer" thing.

!!Miscellaneous Trivia

* FormerlyFit: In RealLife, Jeffrey Dahmer went from [[https://i.ibb.co/qW8KvdQ/Screenshot-2021-06-13-102321.png slim & buff]] to rather [[https://i.ibb.co/7SyCDhc/Screenshot-2021-06-13-102443.png chunky & tubby]].
* GeekPhysiques: Jeffrey Dahmer started out as the skinny variety. He took up weights sometime in High School, however and became built like a {{Hunk}}...but was still a huge outcast geek.
* MoodWhiplash: This [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hambyCg_mAw&list=PL6ixyD7k43abFPXWFbNxSgS79oSrHE4Yp&index=30 version of the trailer]] for the film has the biggest case of it. An upbeat guitar jam over what looks like another fun goofy teen movie about a ClassClown, only for it to show it's true colors at the forty second mark. Fish mutilation, family strife, dead animals, Lloyd Figg's RussianRoulette, scary music and malevolent darkness ensue.
* OldShame: The Dahmer Fan Club stages cruel phone pranks on the Dahmers' palsy-suffering interior decorator. Derf states that he and his friends are today all ashamed of this.
** David Dahmer's opinion of his older brother and family name. He changed it and now lives in anonymity.
* PlayingAgainstType: Creator/RossLynch, famous for playing the lovable {{Keet}} Austin Moon in ''Series/AustinAndAlly'' as the dark, troubled, alcoholic WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds and future SerialKiller, Jeffrey Dahmer.
* PragmaticAdaptation: Some differences between the comic and movie...
** Basically; the movie condenses over four years of Jeff and Derf's high school careers into their senior year.
** The earliest scenes with the roadkill and "the lab" relate to Jeff's junior high and early high school years, before the story-proper starts. Rather than presented as a flashback with a younger actor with shorter hair and horn-rimmed glasses (like [[https://i.ibb.co/HXSgnxJ/Annotation-2020-05-03-213712.png this photo]] of the real Jeff in 7th Grade), the movie basically puts it all in the same time as the junior/senior year with Creator/RossLynch.
** Derf's AdolfHitlarious skit for the talent show is not in the movie. The talent show is barely a subplot, just something Jeff considers in one scene.
** Jeff was also younger and scrawnier when Lionel gifted the dumbbells. The comic describes Jeff as this [[GeekPhysiques skinny kid]] who took up weights over the summer and came back "ripped".
** Probably due to AbilityOverAppearance concerning the actor, Lloyd Figg was changed to an oafish, curly-haired FatBastard with anger issues to a rail-thin, long-haired scary Charles Manson wannabe-sort of kid. Both do sell cannabis, though.
** The comic's DeletedScene involving Figg cruelly running over pets on the street is replaced in the movie with Figg trying to make Dahmer play RussianRoulette in the woods (it's possible that the otherwise humorous line by Figg in the film, "I can get you road kill, man!" was a nod to the comic's cut scene, leading to FridgeHorror). The screenwriter probably figured they couldn't do a "dog hit by psychopath in car" scene convincingly or thought that would be too intense.
** The Epilogues [[note]]Derf reuniting with pals in 1989 and reminiscing about school and joking about Jeff being a SerialKiller.[[/note]] and TheStinger [[note]]Derf (on a day-off) finding out about Jeff being an actual SerialKiller from his wife while she's at work at the paper[[/note]] from the comic are not in the movie.
** In RealLife and the comic, it was one of Derf's friends, Mike, who dropped Jeff off at his house near the end, and there was no confrontation nor attempted murder...but Stephen Hicks' dismembered corpse is likely nearby in Jeff's car at the time. In the movie this is switched around: Derf drops off Jeff, then goes in Jeff's house and almost gets killed in the run up to Hicks' murder [[note]]Jeff picks up Steve, drives off, cue text of what happened next and credits[[/note]] is left as a final scene GutPunch / WhamShot.
** Oliver Zlatka, Jeff's "pal" from early in the movie, is not in the comic. However Cindy, likely his sister, is the suicide discussed about at the fishing hole in the comic (this poignant discussion is replaced in the movie by a more off-beat, off-color discussion involving some guy who attempted masturbation with a vacuum cleaner with disastrous results).
** Doctor Matthew's role is expanded and he gains a beard in TheMovie (the comic depicts a clean-shaven man with glasses). In the comic and RealLife, he's basically an anonymous LivingProp.
** The "Dahmer Fan Club" was actually bigger in real life (Though Derf, Neil, Mike and Kent were the central four. Kent isn't included in TheMovie).

* BrilliantButLazy: In this case, due to being mentally-disturbed and a severe alcoholic. Jeffrey Dahmer actually had an I.Q. of 145, which is considered "Gifted" and among the top 2% of people in the world. In another universe where he wasn't so broken to the point that he turned to murder, Dahmer could've been a CuteBookworm Valedictorian like his kid brother and contributed much. He actually had decent grades when he was younger.

Previous author used poor grammar, excessive links to "The Movie" and "The Graphic Novel", and didn't bother to list tropes for many of the bits of trivia he/she listed.

* AdaptedOut: John Backderf's friend, Kent in TheMovie. This is likely due to simplifying TheMovie and the fact that Kent in RealLife wanted to wash his hands of the whole "Dahmer" thing.
* BrilliantButLazy: In this case, due to being mentally-disturbed and a severe alcoholic. In another universe where he wasn't so broken and turned to murder, he could've been a CuteBookworm Valedictorian like his kid brother and contributed much. He actually had decent grades when he was younger.
* The GraphicNovel has a few [[DeletedScene deleted scenes]]...
** Jeffrey Dahmer and Lloyd Figg having a car ride and ''Jeffrey Dahmer'' (of all people) getting upset at Figg when Figg purposefully hits a dog with his car.
** A brief bit of art involving Jeff looking at the yearbook in bed.
** Jeff getting caught once for drinking and being paddled by the Principal.
* MoodWhiplash: This [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hambyCg_mAw&list=PL6ixyD7k43abFPXWFbNxSgS79oSrHE4Yp&index=30 version of the trailer]] for TheMovie has the biggest case of it. 40 seconds of upbeat guitar jam over what looks like another fun goofy teen movie about a ClassClown only for it to show it's true colors at the 40 second mark. * According to the original comic and the GraphicNovel, Oliver (the gay pal of Dahmer from early in TheMovie) was related to the suicide the boys were discussing at the fishing hole. The kid's full name was ''Oliver Zlatka''.
** From the Original Comic version of the suicide discussed at the "fishing scene".

* Contrary to what the GraphicNovel and TheMovie implies, Jeffrey Dahmer himself ''insisted'' that he never killed animals (apart from things like bugs) and in fact...actually ''loved'' animals (even having a [[https://i.ibb.co/rbNcyZK/Annotation-2020-05-28-182833.png beloved pet dog]] named "Frisky" as a child). All critters Jeff dissolved or cut up were dead to begin with. Dahmer was responsible for a lot of atrocities, but unlike other monstrous serial killers...animal cruelty was ''not one of them.'' After all; He was disgusted with Figg's hitting animals with his car.
SiblingYinYang: The Dahmer Brothers...
** Big-Brother Jeff; The strange, eccentric, withdrawn, alcoholic oddball who collected roadkill, had terrible grades and truancy despite being very intelligent [[DepravedHomosexual and had]] [[SerialRapist uncontrollable]], [[NightmareFetishist incredibly]] [[IAmAHumanitarian perverse]] [[ILoveTheDead sexual urges]] that [[ALoveToDismember drove him]] to be one of the [[MummiesAtTheDinnerTable most stomach-churning]] [[DeadGuyOnDisplay examples]] of a SerialKiller. Tended to be ignored by his parents.
** Little-Brother David; The perfectly-normal, cheerful, well-adjusted regular kid who got great grades and graduated as Valedictorian in High School. Grew up to be a high-achiever with a great career. Was doted on as a kid. Never became a SerialKiller and was so ashamed of his brother's actions that he [[OldShame changed his name]] and now lives in anonymity.
* The character of Dahmer's early-pal, Oliver (and his love of singer, Neil Sedaka, an artist few young people would consider 'cool' and whose heyday was the early 1960s...which is like a present-day teen saying they love ''Barry Manillow'') may be a reference to the fact that...according to Backderf's ''My Friend Dahmer'' blog...[[https://myfrienddahmer.blogspot.com/2012/07/dahmer-and-death-metal.html one of Jeffrey]] Dahmer's biggest teenage musical interests was...out of all people...''Neil Sedaka''.

** The Epilogues [[note]]Derf reuniting with pals in 1989 and reminiscing about school and joking about Jeff being a SerialKiller.[[/note]] and TheStinger [[note]]Derf (on a day-off) finding out about Jeff being an actual SerialKiller from his wife while she's at work at the paper[[/note]] from the Comic comic are not in the movie.
** In RealLife and the GraphicNovel It comic, it was one of Derf's friends who dropped Jeff off at his house near the end end, and there was no confrontation nor attempted murder...but Stephen Hick's Hicks' dismembered corpse was is likely nearby in Jeff's car at the time. In TheMovie, the movie this is switched around, around: Derf drops off Jeff, then goes in Jeff's house and almost gets killed while in the run up to Stephen Hick's Hicks' murder [[note]]Jeff picks up Steve, drive drives off, cue text of what happened next and credits[[/note]] is left as a final scene GutPunch / WhamShot.
** Oliver Zlatka, Jeff's "pal" from early in the movie, is not in the GraphicNovel...but comic. However Cindy, likely his sister, is the suicide discussed about at the fishing hole in the ComicBook & GraphicNovel (In TheMovie, however, this comic (this poignant discussion is replaced in the movie by a more off-beat, off-color discussion involving some guy who attempted masturbation with a vacuum cleaner...cleaner with disastrous results).
** The jogger, Doctor Matthew's role is expanded and he gains a beard in TheMovie (the comic depicts a clean-shaven man with glasses). In the comic and RealLife, he's basically an anonymous LivingProp.
** The "Dahmer Fan Club" was actually bigger in real life (Though John/'Derf', Derf, Neil, Mike & and Kent were the central four. Kent inexplicabaly isn't included in TheMovie).

--->'''Neil:''' "Can you believe the Cindy Zlatka thing?...Who'd have figured she'd kill herself? I hear she blew her head half-off with her dad's .44 Magnum."
--->'''Jeff:''' "I wonder who found her body?"
--->'''Neil:''' "I dunno. What a waste. She was cute...Nice tits."
** From the GraphicNovel version of the suicide discussed at the "fishing scene".
--->'''Neil:''' "Hey; Didya hear about Cindy Zlatka?"
--->'''Jeff:''' "Yeah."
--->'''Neil:''' "Suicide! Guess she blew her head half-off with her Dad's gun."
--->'''Jeff:''' "I wonder who found the body."
--->'''Neil:''' "Dunno. It's so weird. I didn't really know her well, but she didn't act suicidal. She was cute...Nice bod. But to off yourself! I just don't get that! I mean, at our age...how bad can life be?"
