* CutSong: When allegations of plagiarism for the "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme" began to surface during the game's production, the game's theme song, "Show Time," which [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzHhAcD8TS4 originally]] included the "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme", was re-edited so that it didn't. Sadly, this was not a temporary change, and the song has [[ExecutiveMeddling never surfaced again]], even in the 20th anniversary soundtrack collection (also, this is the only game with ''Metal Gear Solid'' in the title that doesn't have ''Metal Gear Solid'''s game over music at all, including ''[[VideoGame/MetalGearGhostBabel Ghost Babel]]'', but this is generally viewed as less significant by fans).
* DummiedOut: The Japanese version has eight special camo soldiers based on various retailers that promoted ''Portable Ops'' during launch. These retailer soldiers are normally inaccessible in the North American version, but can still be used with a cheat device, along with the shirtless version of Snake from the tutorial and Roy Campbell (the latter being completely mute in action).
* NoPortForYou: Unlike ''[[VideoGame/MetalGearSolidPeaceWalker Peace Walker]]'', which is available on multiple consoles, the digital version of ''Portable Ops'' was only re-released on the UsefulNotes/{{PlayStation Vita}} and [=PlayStation=] TV.
* TheOtherDarrin: The CIA Director was "voiced" by Paul Collins in ''[[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid3SnakeEater Metal Gear Solid 3]]'' and voiced by Jesse Corti here. Somewhat justified, though, as while Collins might have voiced the CIA Director, he didn't actually have any lines, as he only had a minor grunt of disgust when Naked Snake refused to shake his hand.

** This isn't the only time Creator/DaisukeGori played [[VideoGame/StarFox64 someone]] who defected to another group and sold out his allies. Although unlike Pigma, who was motivated by {{greed}}, Cunningham was motivated more by {{revenge}}, and given what [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal he had to go through thanks to his allies/group, the CIA]], its kind of hard to blame him for wanting revenge. Here's a quote from Pigma and Cunningham that has some similarities:
-->'''Pigma:''' My beautiful reward!''' Gyaaahhahahaha...!
-->'''Cunningham:''' Why, Snake...? If you'd just gone home to America, you and I would have been given the '''highest honors a soldier can achieve.
** Creator/ToshioFurukawa played the young Campbell to Creator/TakeshiAono's older Campbell. This is in reference to ''Manga/DragonBall'', where Aono played King Piccolo and Furukawa played Piccolo Jr.
