** In an Ultimania interview, Tetsuya Nomura states that Sora's lighter hair color in games post ''II'' are because of his connection to Roxas. However, he seems to take this back in games made after Re: Chain of Memories, where an entirely new character model for Sora was created that gives him lighter hair akin to II.

* ShrugOfGod: Whether the remix collections will come to Xbox One and/or Switch (as well as ''III'' for that one) after ''III'' has come out. On one hand, there's a theory that Square is waiting to see the amount that ''III'' sells on Xbox One to justify the ports, which doesn't make sense because Xbox players going into ''III'' blind won't get what's going on in the story outside of what's happening in the main plot without them. On the other, Nomura has stated that it's a likely possibility and the main conceit of releasing the collections in the first place was to catch people up on the stories of the games in time for ''III'' to avoid massive ContinuityLockout with people who would either be playing the series for the first time with ''III'' or hadn't played the handheld games to keep up with the overall narrative of later entries’ stories and setups for ''III'', which is only more incentive for them to do it. Considering that the series used Disney characters to sell a lot of copies of a new game in the first place, the series has the potential to break a lot of ground on Xbox like it did the PlayStation compared to other Square Enix games due to the good word of mouth and hype generated by PlayStation players, so they shouldn't have much to worry about with sales numbers.

* GodNeverSaidThat: A main reason that most [=PS4=] fanboys claim that the games prior to ''III'' hadn't been announced to be coming to the Xbox One yet is because of a supposed exclusivity deal with Sony for the first two main games to stay on PlayStation. Not only does this not make ''any'' sense, seeing as the series has been multiplatform since ''Chain of Memories'', which was originally on the GBA, but no one at Square or Sony has said anything of the sort. The most probable reasons for those games being on PlayStation, and nowhere else, thus far is that the [=PS2=] was the most popular gaming console of the 6th generation and Square has a good working relationship with Sony, as well as Square not having another team available to port the games to the Xbox One while ''III'' and several other big projects were in the works. The fact that Nomura has said that it's entirely possible to port the collections to the Xbox One at some point in the future pretty much confirmed this. True to his word, the collections eventually did arrive on Xbox One.

** The original form of a Nobody or Heartless is called a “Somebody” by the fandom, especially among Organization XIII (e.g. Sora is Roxas’s Somebody). The games don’t have a specific terminology for what they otherwise just call “people” or “humans”, though the fan term may come from a quote from Axel in ''Chain of Memories'' (“We nobodies can never hope to be somebodies.”) One of the [[TheWikiRule wikis]] uses “Entelechies” to categorize complete beings, but acknowledges that the term has never been officially used.

** The Master of Masters is referred to as '''Mom''' since it's an acronym.
** With the rise of an item/boss randomizer for several games in the series, a whole new slew of nicknames to describe items or game situations has arisen.
*** AP Boosts are called '''Apples''', Magic Boosts as '''Mangoes''', Power Boosts as '''Pears''', and Defense Boosts as '''Dates''', due to being easier and faster to say than just "XXX Boost".
*** '''Baby Seed''' is the name given to randomizer seeds which gift the runner completion items early (any of the three Proofs) or powerful spells or abilities early (Thunder elements, the Explosion ability).
*** '''Go Mode''', as in other randomizer runs, is when the conditions to beat the game have been met, and now the runner can just go straight to the game's ending.
*** A '''Zeus Run''' is when the runner happens upon Thunder Elements and thunder-boosting accessories/abilities early enough for the Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga spell to be the primary damage method.

* VocalEvolution: Due to their voice actors going through puberty, Sora, Riku, and Kairi sound very different in ''I'' than they do in the later games. Because of this, the new cutscenes added to the Final Mix version of the first game are not dubbed except for some reused dialogue from earlier cutscenes for one of the secret bosses. The Final Mix versions of ''II'' and ''Birth By Sleep'', however, had their extra cutscenes dubbed later in 2014 for ''2.5'' since they're scenes that featured characters whose actors were all old enough to not have their voices change much in the 7 years since the original versions of the games were dubbed. However, some other characters, such as Demyx's, actors have also had their voices get noticeably deeper by the time ''III'' was dubbed in 2018.

* BeamMeUpScotty: A lot of fanart, fan-animation, etc. depict the Keyblade being swung with the teeth facing ''forward'', like an ax, when in the actual games it's swung with the teeth facing ''backward'', like a blunt-force object. A side-effect of this is that Ventus' default keyblade, Wayward Wind, is often depicted in fanart with the teeth facing the wrong way, which is very noticeable given Wayward Wind's asymmetric design.

** ''Kingdom Hearts'' was, for a time, infamous for including plot-relevant content in Japan-only ''Final Mix'' re-releases. Eventually all this content reached the international audience in the form of the ''1.5 HD Remix'' and ''2.5 HD Remix'' (then ''1.5+2.5'') compilation disks. This was due to releasing only on the [=PS2=] (and PSP for ''Birth By Sleep'') at the time, when Sony had a policy of not allowing games to be rereleased outside of Japan, or possibly just their country of origin, like the way ''Kingdom Hearts I'' and ''II'' were without significant enough changes to the base game to justify it. Additional cutscenes and secret bosses were not deemed enough to justify it to Sony at the time. The HD remixes were literally the first possible way to release the content overseas for Square, same with some of their other games that got redone versions of them at a later date in the [=PS2=] days.

This was due to releasing only on the [=PS2=] (and PSP for ''Birth By Sleep'') at the time, when Sony had a policy of not allowing games to be rereleased outside of Japan, or possibly just their country of origin, like the way ''Kingdom Hearts I'' and ''II'' were were, without significant enough changes to the base game to justify it. Additional cutscenes and cutscenes, secret bosses bosses, revamped gameplay elements, and additional difficulties were not deemed enough to justify it to Sony at the time. The HD remixes were literally the first possible way to release the content overseas for Square, same with some of their other games that got redone versions of them at a later date in the [=PS2=] days.

** For ''KHIII'', Creator/AkioOhtsuka and Creator/RutgerHauer take over as Master Xenahort in Japanese and English, respectively, after Creator/ChikaoOhtsuka's and Creator/LeonardNimoy's deaths in 2015. Ironically enough, Hauer died later that year, so the character will likely be recast again in English if he appears in newer games or DLC for ''III''.

The Final Mix versions of ''II'' and ''Birth By Sleep'' had their extra cutscenes dubbed later in 2014 for ''2.5'' since they're scenes that featured characters whose actors were all old enough to not have their voices change much in the 7 years since the original versions of the games were dubbed. However, some other characters, such as Demyx's, actors have also had their voices get noticeably deeper by the time ''III'' was dubbed in 2018.

* UrbanLegendOfZelda: One of the more common things you'll read online as to why the ''1.5,'' ''2.5,'' and ''2.8'' HD collections weren't ported off the [=PS3=] and [=PS4=] for the longest time is that the earlier [=PS2=] games had an exclusivity deal with Sony to release on only their consoles that extended to their remasters. Not only does this make no sense, since the rest of the games, minus ''Birth By Sleep'' came out on Nintendo's handhelds or mobile devices, but ''Kingdom Hearts III'' also released for the Xbox One, aat the same time as the [=PS4=]. Also, Nomura and Tai Yasue also stated that ports of the collections to Xbox One were also possibilities after ''III'' was released, but had yet to do so because the team was focused on ''III's'' development to not have it be delayed. This seems to be hearsay from some fans to justify the lack of ports of the earlier games to Xbox, despite there being no evidence to support it. In fact, there's more evidence against it. Safe to say, after [=X019=], if there ''was'' an exclusivity deal, same as the 3D ''Final Fantasy'' games a year before, it's clearly not in effect anymore if it ever ''was.''
