* DawsonCasting: The National Service recruits were supposed to be about 18 years old, and certainly no older than 21, but when the series began, Robert Lindsay, David Janson, and Brian Pettifer were all around 25 years old, and Karl Howman was also around 25 years old when he took over the role of Jakey for Series 5.

* BillingDisplacement: The series' DVD release gave top billing not to Tony Selby but to Robert Lindsay, who had become famous in the intervening years in such series as ''Series/CitizenSmith'' and ''Series/MyFamily''. Tony Selby has likened this to releasing a Sixth Doctor-era ''Series/DoctorWho'' DVD with "Starring Tony Selby and Creator/ColinBaker" on the cover.

* TheOtherDarrin: After the series' cancellation in 1977, Robert Lindsay took the lead role in ''Series/CitizenSmith''. When the series was UnCancelled after a campaign by ''News of the World'', the role of Jakey Smith was re-cast with Karl Howman.

Hey Its That Guy cut by TRS decision. Ditto for Hey Its That Voice.

* HeyItsThatGuy:
** Tony Selby as Corporal Marsh may be more familiar to viewers as Sabalom Glitz in the Creator/ColinBaker and Creator/SylvesterMcCoy eras of ''Series/DoctorWho''; he also crossed paths with Robert Lindsay again in ''Series/MyFamily'' as Susan's long lost father.
** Jakey Smith was played by Robert Lindsay, later famous as the title character in ''Series/CitizenSmith'' and the Harper patriarch in ''Series/MyFamily'', and then by Karl Howman, more familiar as house painter and womaniser Jacko in ''Brush Strokes''.
** Ken Richardson was played by David Janson, halfway between playing a schoolboy whom Music/RingoStarr befriends in ''Film/AHardDaysNight'' and the second Herr Flick in ''Series/AlloAllo''.
** Bruce Leckie was played by Brian Pettifer, who has had many television roles since including Rory Campbell in ''Series/HamishMacbeth'' and Andra in ''Series/RabCNesbitt''.
** The retiring Sergeant Dobson from "Picket Detail" was played by character actor Alfred Marks, who had starred in numerous radio and television comedies in the preceding twenty years including ''Alfred Marks Time'', which ran from 1956-59, and several series of the long-running radio comedy ''Educating Archie''.
** When Jakey encounters his fellow Teddy Boys in "36-Hour Pass", one of them, Wally, is played by a young Simon Callow, who went on to play supporting roles in Merchant-Ivory's three E. M. Forster adaptations (Reverend Beebe in ''Room with a View'', Mr. Ducie in ''Literature/{{Maurice}}'', and a cameo in ''Literature/HowardsEnd'') and Gareth in ''Film/FourWeddingsAndAFuneral''.
** Wing Commander Birch, the UpperClassTwit pilot who takes "C" flight up in the air in "Flight", was played by George Baker, whose other roles include Captain Benson in ''Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe'', Tiberius in ''Series/IClaudius'', and DCI Reg Wexford in ''Ruth Rendell Mysteries''.
** Cook-Corporal Jenner in "Complaints" was played by character actor Roy Kinnear, whose previous roles included a regular engagement on ''Series/ThatWasTheWeekThatWas'', George Roper's friend Jerry on ''Series/ManAboutTheHouse'', various Richard Lester films including ''Film/{{Help}}'' (as Algernon, Professor Foot's assistant) and ''Film/{{The Three Musketeers|1973}}'' (as Planchet), and Veruca Salt's father Henry in ''Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory''.
** Squadron Leader Bush, who assigns the National Servicemen to their new posts in "End of Basic Training", is played by Paul Eddington, whom audiences at the time would have known as Jerry Leadbetter in Esmonde and Larbey's ''Series/TheGoodLife''.
** The recruits' CO at RAF Midham, Squadron Leader Baker, was played by John D. Collins, who went on to play Inspector Delon in ''Secret Army'' and Flying Officer Fairfax in the ''Secret Army'' parody ''Series/AlloAllo''.

* PostScriptSeason: Series 4 ended on a high note with Jakey, Ken, Matthew, and Bruce given a cushy posting to RAF Luqa in Malta, while Marsh received his comeuppance with a demotion to Aircraftman First Class and a posting to an RAF base in snowbound Labrador. However, after the series was UnCancelled, all five characters were suddenly recalled to Britain and posted to RAF Druidswater, where they picked up roughly where they left off before Marsh's demotion. The new series was found lacking by both the cast and the audience, and ''Get Some In!'' was cancelled for a second and final time in 1978.
