Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame:
** There's a Selena [[VideoGame/FireEmblemFates fighting alongside Nohr]]. She is not the same person as this game's Selena. When this game's Selena appeared on polls to be added to ''VideoGame/FireEmblemHeroes'', her name is instead spelled '''Celina''', though the game proper refers to her by her original name.
** On a more meta example, this game shares its surname with [[VideoGame/DoubleDragon the third Double Dragon game on the NES]].

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Unlike the Elibe games, ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade Binding Blade]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade Blazing Blade]]'', ''The Sacred Stones'' was ported to the 3DS, but only as part of an Ambassador Program. The program itself had long since come and gone, making this port incredibly rare, as it can only be found on [=3DSes=] that had installed it before. Fortunately, it will be unaffected by the closure of the 3DS eShop, which is expected to happen in late March 2023.
** However, this ''does'' mean its Wii U Virtual Console port will no longer be purchased, as the Wii U eShop is also expected to close on the same year.

2023. The same isn't true for its Wii U Virtual Console port port, as it will no longer be purchased, as purchased. This is because the Wii U eShop is also expected to close on the same year.

* WorkingTitle: ''Fire Emblem 8''. This wouldn't be too noteworthy, except ''VideoGame/FireEmblemPathOfRadiance'' also happens to have the same internal name, as that game began development before this one. As a result, there is no Fire Emblem game that internally refers to itself as "Fire Emblem 9."

* CreatorDrivenSuccessor: Prior to later games also revisiting those mechanics and the ''Shadows of Valentia'' remake, ''Sacred Stones'' took the most inspiration from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemGaiden'', including the branching story, branching class system, the usage of monster enemies, and the revisitable overworld map with dungeons.

** The dancer's rings from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade'' still exist in the files and Tethys can still use them with the same effects they had in ''The Blazing Blade'', but they've all been renamed "Dummy" and cannot be obtained without the use of a cheating device.

* FanNickname: Moulder the Boulder and Gilliam Bojangles. Moulder's comes from his unusually high HP, Defense and Constitution stats making him much buffer and tankier than your average cleric, while Gilliam's comes from a sprite comic.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: There's a few examples ''[[http://fireemblemwiki.org/Fire_Emblem:_The_Sacred_Stones_beta here]]''.
** The biggest one would be flying trainee Amelia, princess of Frelia. That would've changed a number of character dynamics substantially. There's also Dancer Neimi, you can actually tell in the final product that she got kind of awkwardly palette-shifted late in development when Tethys' new design was finalized and she was repurposed as an archer.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: There's The community does actually have a [[https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Fire_Emblem:_The_Sacred_Stones_prototype prototype alpha build]] of the game that was obtained off a mistakenly-open Intelligent Systems FTP server. It revealed quite a few examples ''[[http://fireemblemwiki.org/Fire_Emblem:_The_Sacred_Stones_beta here]]''.
differences from the published game and gave some indications about how the game and it's characters developed:
** The biggest one would be difference, for certain, is flying trainee Amelia, princess of Frelia. That would've changed a number of character dynamics substantially. There's substantially (among other things, the "Frelian princess" would've been younger than the twins and likely had a different relationship with both of them), and also Dancer led to one of the trainee units being mounted.
** The other really big one is "Dancer Neimi"; initially, the dancer character was going to be a younger character who looked generally like
Neimi, you can actually tell in except this character had red hair and eyes and a more traditional dancer's shoulderless top and armband. It's fairly clear, looking at the final product product, that she got kind of "Neimi" was somewhat awkwardly palette-shifted late in development and had her upper body hastily redrawn (the alpha dancer has a somewhat more visually appealing color balance and a less visually "busy" top compared to retail Neimi) when Tethys' new design the dancer character was finalized redesigned in concept and she the previous dancer was repurposed as an archer.reworked into the archer Neimi character that went to print.

As I said when i forgot to remove it, Genius Bonus is YMMV, not Trivia.

* GeniusBonus: So by referring to the zombies as "Revenants", they're just NotUsingTheZWord huh? Actually, "Revenant" is another name for "Zombie" - it even predates the word "zombie" to describe animated corpses. In addition, revenants are slightly different than zombies. They are undead creatures that were revived due to harboring a deep seated grudge that kept them from resting in peace. In essence, they fit well with the antagonist's demonic theme.

** The biggest one would be ''flying trainee Amelia, princess of Frelia''. That would've changed a number of character dynamics substantially (and also made it so that you got two trainees early!) There's also ''Dancer Neimi'', which looks absolutely fantastic - especially since the red color scheme works very well on her, and you can tell in the final product that she got kind of awkwardly palette-shifted late in development when Tethys' new design was finalized and she was repurposed as an archer.
** Saleh was supposed to appear ''much'' earlier, actually, and even kills the chapter boss (Novala) himself! [[http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=17713 See info here.]]
