* StarMakingRole: For Creator/BrycePapenbrook, who had largely been cast as secondary characters prior to getting the part of Kida. This show arguably kickstarted the trend of him landing a large portion of the leading young male roles in high-profile California anime and video game dubs- a trend that lasted at least four years. [[note]]For reference, the dub of the first season came out in 2011[[/note]]. Also for Creator/BriannaKnickerbocker, being the first anime role she did as Akane Awakusu. * WhatCouldHaveBeen: Narita lists two potential plots he had for ''Durarara!! SH'' volume 4 in his afterword for volume 3: Anri finds a mysterious box that Kuon buys to resell, but soon discovers that several other people want it or Yahiro is enlisted for a juvenile mixed martial arts tournament at the local dojo. Volume 4 goes with the former, leaving the other plot as merely a potential idea for a future unwritten novel.

Sequel series ''SH'' is written in the 2010s and acknowledges those forms of communication have been made outdated with the advent of smartphones and social media, with characters like Kuon explicitly dismissing chat rooms in favor of social media and the chat room interstitials being replaced with clickbait articles, its comment sections, and random tweets.

They actually [[LastEpisodeNewCharacter show up in the last episode/second OVA and don't have much plot importance]].
** There are occasional mentions of Yagiri Pharmaceuticals being at risk of being bought out by an American company called Nebula -- The same Nebula that constructed the [[LightNovel/{{Baccano}} Flying Pussyfoot]] in the 1930s.
** The Dollars website password? LightNovel/{{Baccano}}.
** [[spoiler:[[LightNovel/{{Baccano}} "Hey, Isaac..." "What is it, Miria?"]]]]
** There are also an instance of a clip from Baccano (specifically the fight between Ladd and the Rail Tracer atop a train) playing on a big-screen TV on the side of a building, and again, in the background of one shot was a poster of the Rail Tracer. Both of these instances cause a slight contradiction to the theory that both series are in the same continuity, since Baccano appears to be a TV show or movie in the Durarara era. However, given the existence of Isaac and Miria and Nebula, it could just be a non-fictional movie. But who really knows?
** Ennis from LightNovel/{{Baccano}} again shows up on a big screen in the background during the second OVA/episode 25.
** In volume 5, Shizuo briefly mentions that he once got into a fight with a [[HealingFactor very-difficult-to-injure]] foreigner. BonusMaterial suggests that the man in question is [[LightNovel/{{Baccano}} Nile]]
** In volume 8, Saki mentions meeting an American kid that has [[IdenticalStranger suspicious resemblance to Kasuka Heiwajima/Yuuhei Hanejima]]. The kid in question is Charon Walken, [[LightNovel/{{Baccano}} Chane Laforet]] and [[spoiler:Claire Stanfield]]'s great-grandson.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Invoked in Episode 6 by Togusa, who corrects the semi-conscious goon [[spoiler: when he calls the group "Dollar"]].
** The fansubbers sometimes subtitle the title as "Dullalalah", which is probably the intended translation seeing as the show is about a Dullahan. Artwork is often emblazoned with "DRRR", but fans tend to take it as a quicker way to refer to the series, and not its actual title proper.
*** Technically, ''DRRR!!'' '''would''' be the proper title, given that Narita decided the title the last minute after hearing someone flip through the pages of a book. Since symbols (letters) are made out of ''sounds'' in Japan, it would be デュラララ (lit. ''durarara''). In the west, however, it should be romanized as ''drr''[rrr]. It's even written as such in the second opening credits where all of the names are spelled in English. Durarara, however, is decidedly catchier and easier to say.
** There's also the Dullahan herself, over whom official materials are totally inconsistent. "Certy" appears late in the novels, she herself uses "Selty" on a computer in the anime's fourth episode, and Shinra has her as "Celty" in his cell phone address book in the sixth episode.
** The new opening now gives us the "correct" way to spell the characters names in English.
