* AlmostFamousName: Mei Shin is a little girl in the 80s with ambitions of becoming a famous singer, groomed by her parents to follow in her mother's footsteps. Her name transliterated into Vietnamese (in the fanmade localized version) is Mỹ Tâm, exactly the same as an extremely popular Vietnamese pop diva born in 1981, dubbed the Queen of V-Pop, who started singing and winning awards as a child singer. Both are known by their first and middle names, but the ''Devotion'' character's surname is Du (Đỗ in Vietnamese), while the real singer's full name is Phan Thị Mỹ Tâm.

* BannedInChina: Literally so. Infamously, a placeholder asset that compared the chairman of mainland China, Xi Jinping, to Winnie the Pooh (a comparison he [[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/aug/07/china-bans-winnie-the-pooh-film-to-stop-comparisons-to-president-xi famously resents]]) sneaked into the game's final release and the game was review-bombed on Steam by more nationalistic Chinese reviewers. While it was quickly patched out, the game vanished off Steam shortly thereafter -- supposedly only for a short time to fix it up -- leading some to question if that wasn't the real reason.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: In July 2019, Red Candle Games stated they have no plans to re-release the game in the future, likely due to the immense controversy the placeholder asset that resulted in [[BannedInChina their publishing rights being revoked]] in China, leaving very few ways to get the game legally anymore. On December 16th, 2020, they [[https://twitter.com/redcandlegames/status/1339148313032060929 announced]] that the game would be re-released on Dec 18th via GOG, an announcement that was retracted merely hours later. On March 15th, 2021, they finally cut out the middle man and [[https://twitter.com/redcandlegames/status/1371335941542060032 launched their own storefront]] to sell the game on.
* NoExportForYou: After having dealt with so much controversy from China due to the aforementioned placeholder asset in BannedInChina above, the game's re-release from Red Candle Games's own storefront is completely region-locked from China, and if a Chinese user tries to play the game, it will only prompt a [[https://i.imgur.com/V1YvFes.png warning message]] that the game is prohibited by law.
