Adding in some info Jerry Beck has posted in the past, like on Facebook and on Cartoon Research comments.

Added DiffLines:

* CreatorsApathy: While the project was initially headed by well-known animation historian Jerry Beck, he left just as Nickelodeon secured the rights to the characters. In his place, the network hired a crew who, as Beck remembers, knew and cared nothing about the original Terrytoons shorts (with the exception of director Robert Taylor, who had worked at the original Terrytoons studio in its twilight years), only doing the pilot for the money.
* FranchiseKiller: According to Jerry Beck, the pilot's failure effectively killed whatever remaining interest Viacom had in the Terrytoons franchise, as he learned the hard way when he tried to make a Sidney short for WesternAnimation/RandomCartoons, only to be forced to replace him with a similar character. The short was ultimately produced as Hornswiggle

* OneEpisodeWonder: The pilot is all there is of this series because not only was it never picked up, but it didn't even air.
