* OlderThanTheyThink: Many assume that computer based interactive fiction was inspired by the Choose Your Own Adventure series. However, there is an excellent reason to believe that the computer based TextAdventure was conceived independently of the CYOA series. Will Crowther wrote the code for the first version of Colossal Cave Adventure in 1976, the same year that Edward Packard was able to finally find a publisher for The Adventures of You on Sugarcane Island.Packard actually completed the manuscript in 1969 but got nothing but rejection slips until he ran into R.A. Montgomery in 1976..

* LikeFatherLikeSon:
** Or, like father, like daughter in this case: Edward Packard's daughter Andrea wrote Secret of the Sun God.
** The late Ramsey Montgomery, R.A.'s son, wrote a few CYOA titles, including The Mona Lisa is Missing.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Many of the books are obviously products of TheEighties, at least in the original printing. For instance, Secret of the Pyramids has you taking a TWA flightThe airline would be struggling soon and dead by 2001.

* CreativeDifferences: Edward Packard, who pioneered the premise with his manuscript The Adventures Of You On Sugarcane Island and was one of CYOA's founders, had a falling out with R.A. Montgomery at one point. As a result, Chooseco doesn't reprint any of Packard's works, and Packard started his own book series titled U-Ventures. (Guess IAmTheTrope who claimed the rights to the CYOA franchise.)
