Added DiffLines:

* Defictionalization: Very large sandwiches are now known as "Dagwoods" in some parts of the United States (including this very wiki!)
* MilestoneCelebration: The 75th anniversary of the strip, which involved a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover of various other comic strips.
* OutlivedItsCreator: Chic Young died in 1973, but thanks to his son Dean, Blondie keeps on chugging.
* ThePeteBest: Alexander used to have a friend named Alvin who played the FreeRangeChildren position that Elmo plays in modern strips.
* RecycledScript: Not surprising for such a long runner. Examples include a strip where the Bumsteads and the Woodleys couldn't agree on what movie to go and see, and going to rent a video instead didn't solve the problem. One joke--Blondie being unable to overcome her revulsion toward a statuette that Dagwood bought--has been recycled at least twice, with Dagwood having a similar reaction to Blondie's new hairstyle.

* SpiritualLicensee:
** WesternAnimation/TheJetsons was basically an animated adaptation of the comic strip set in the future. It even had Penny Singleton (the actress who'd portrayed Blondie in the 1938–50 films) voicing Jane Jetson.
** WesternAnimation/WildWife, a fairly obscure 1954 WesternAnimation/MerrieMelodies cartoon short, strongly appears to be a Parody of both the comic strip and the movie series.
* SuppressedMammaries: It's implied that Blondie hid her rather large breasts during her flapper days. This was actually TruthInTelevision--strapped breasts were a popular fashion during the '20s.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Live-action Blondie actress and Jane Jetson voice-actress Penny Singleton could've reprised Blondie when two animated specials of the comic strip were produced for the first (and only) times in 1987 and 1989. The producers decided they needed a celebrity voice actor instead.
