* ExecutiveMeddling: One of the contractual agreements RobinWilliams had was that they not make a big deal about him being in the movie (''Toys'' was coming out the following month, and he didn't want this film to overshadow Barry Levinson's pet project), which included the requirement that the poster not have the Genie take up more than 25% of merchandise. Just look at the image. He ''does'' take up the minimum allowed amount of space, but he's still by far the most obvious character. Robin Williams sued, and won.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Patrick Stewart was up for the role of Jafar. He wanted to do it, too, but fitting it into his schedule (which included the weekly ''StarTrekTheNextGeneration'') proved too difficult. He considers not voicing Jafar one of his biggest career regrets.

* HeyItsThatVoice: FrankWelker voices the Cave of Wonders using a voice strikingly similar to Dr. Claw of InspectorGadget.
** He's also Abu AND Raja, which makes certain scenes of them together... [[TalkingToHimself interesting]].

* MeanCharacterNiceActor: Jonathan Freeman, Jafar's voice actor, on the DVD extras appears as the total opposite to his evil character: he's funny, nice, gentle, and nowhere near as tall!
** Also, terrified of birds, which became something of a "WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes" moment when the live parrot was brought into the studio so animators could sketch it.

* TheOtherDarrin: Throughout the first sequel and the TV series, Genie is voiced by DanCastellaneta, before switching back to RobinWilliams in ''The King of Thieves'', and back again to Castellaneta in the ''KingdomHearts'' series.

* TheOtherMarty: Aladdin himself: Aladdin was originally drawn as a scrawny 12-year-old. (Or thereabouts.) It was only ''after'' animation had begun that they realized they needed a more buff look for their hero. However, it was too late to re-do the animation that had been done already, and the 'scrawny' Aladdin can be seen in the ''Friend Like Me'' sequence[[hottip:*: Pay attention to Aladdin during the lines "''You gots power in your corner now''" and "''you ain't never had a friend like me''" just before "''yes, sir, we pride ourselves on service''", where it's particularly obvious]]. In fact, Aladdin's original design was based on Michael J. Fox, which would make him an Other Marty for the ''[[BackToTheFuture original]]'' Other Marty.

*** Speaking of Spain, Ángel de Gracia (Aladdin) wound up on TotalDramaIsland 20 years later... as Noah!

* ShoutOut: Several; an early movie example has a chase scene end [[BackToTheFuture with Aladdin's pursuers fall into a pile of manure.]] Particularly interesting when you consider the initial inspiration for Aladdin's design.

** When the Genie is looking for recipes to make a prince, the Alaskan King Crab produces [[TheLittleMermaid Sebastian]]. There's even a snatch of "Under the Sea" included in the soundtrack.
** Damn near everything Genie says or does.

* ShoutOut: Rasoul is named after Rasoul Azadani, who worked at the Disney Studios and proved invaluable in the movie. It didn't make it into the original movie, however. "Rasoul Azadani!" was also the original incantation Jafar shouts to open the Cave of Wonders, but that was considered too in-joke-y.
** The series also has some {{Shout Out}}s to other Disney movies. For example, a mermaid character makes an allusion to ''TheLittleMermaid'' when an attempt to restyle Jasmine's hair leaves her with an Ariel-style 'do ("She looks like any other princess under the sea").
** A female genie named [[IDreamOfJeannie Eden]] also appears, who lives in a bottle instead of a lamp.
** The episode "Forget Me Lots" features the Blue Rose of Forgetfulness. And here you thought they were done stealing from ''The Thief of Bagdad'' with Jafar.
** Chaos's design is based off of The Cheshire Cat from AliceInWonderland. He even turns everything but his eyes and smile invisible.
** In ''When Chaos Comes Calling'', Chaos turns a couple of dinner guests into a [[HitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy a whale and a bowl of flowers]].
