* ApprovalOfGod: Creator/GrouchoMarx (the only surviving member of the Creator/MarxBrothers from the film at the time of the album's release) got in touch with the band to tell them how much he liked it. (They sent him a jacket with the album's coat of arms image embroidered on the back in response.)
* BasedOnADream: "The Prophet's Song" was inspired by a nightmare about a great flood Brian May had while suffering from hepatitis.
* CreatorBacklash: Music/FreddieMercury was not pleased with the sound of the Wurlitzer electric piano, which John Deacon insisted on playing on "You're My Best Friend". Freddie preferred the sound of the acoustic piano. He still loved the song itself, though.
* MagnumOpusDissonance: While they certainly agree that it's a very important album for them, the members themselves don't think it was their best album ever; Music/BrianMay personally believes ''Music/QueenII'' was their finest work.
* ReferencedBy:
** In ''Film/WaynesWorld'', the main characters lip sync to "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the car, headbanging along to the guitar solo.
** Music/WeirdAlYankovic's [[Music/{{Alapalooza}} "Bohemian Polka"]] is a CoverVersion of "Bohemian Rhapsody" as a polka song.
** The ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' episode [[Recap/CowboyBebopSession14BohemianRhapsody "Bohemian Rhapsody"]] is titled after the penultimate track on this album.
** In the ''Series/DoctorWho'' episode [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E11TurnLeft "Turn Left"]], Donna and her family sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" with the Colasantos.
** In ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean'', Ungalo's [[FightingSpirit Stand]] is named Bohemian Rhapsody.
** The ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' episode [[Recap/GravityFallsS2E19WeirdmageddonPart2EscapeFromReality "Escape from Reality"]] takes its title from a line in "Bohemian Rhapsody".
* SimilarlyNamedWorks: Apart from the album being named after the Creator/MarxBrothers film, the track "Love of My Life" shares the same title as a Music/FrankZappa song from ''Music/CruisingWithRubenAndTheJets'' (1968), but is otherwise unrelated.
* StreisandEffect: Norman Sheffield, Queen's former band manager and the subject of "Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...)" sued the band for defamation after hearing the song. It ended up backfiring for the man horrifically as the band was smart enough to not specifically mention Sheffield by name in the lyrics, [[EpicFail meaning all he did was publicly reveal who the track was actually about]].
* ThrowItIn: When he was writing "'39", Music/BrianMay asked John Deacon to play double bass on the recording. While he meant it as a joke, Deacon actually could play the double bass, and showed up with one at the recording session, so May decided to use it, resulting in a very interesting skiffle feel.
