* EverybodyKnewAlready: Skids is surprised to find out that Chromedome knows he secretly likes having amnesia. Chromedome points out Skids told Swerve, so there's a good chance that not only everyone on board knows, but also everyone on Cybertron and indeed large swaths of the universe otherwise untouched by Cybertronian influence does as well.

* FiveManBand: While technically villains, the Scavengers are Villain Protagonists, and fit the archetypes:TheLeader is Krok, TheLancer is Misfire, TheSmartGuy position is filled by Crankcase (or Spinister, when his talents are put to use), TheBigGuy is Spinister, TheChick is Flywheels and the SixthRanger are Fulcrum and Grimlock.
** While not emphasized and only featured in one issue, the "Swerve Posse" also consists of five members that more or less fit the parts, with Swerve as TheLeader, Rewind as TheLancer, Skids as TheBigGuy, Rung as TheSmartGuy, Tailgate as TheChick and Whirl as the SixthRanger and TokenEvilTeammate.

* HuntingTheRogue: This is one of the functions of the Decepticon Justice Division. However, part of the reason the DJD are so feared and despised by most other Decepticons is because just what makes you a "rogue" seems completely random. Hunting Deathsaurus for deserting with his contingent of 500 troops due to dissatisfaction with Megatron's leadership is understandable, executing otherwise loyal Decepticon Blip for worshipping the legendary Sparkeaters (claiming worshipping anyone other than Megatron was heresy) far less so.

It's been going on for sixteen-million years. It also caused the Shattering, which is the whole reason the Galactic Council was formed.

** There's also implications of something building between Tailgate and Cyclonus, although it feels strange thanks to one being twice the height of the other.

Colorist Josh Burcham has proposed Creator/AdamBaldwin as Whirl.

* HonestyAesop: The comic has a moral throughout the entire comic, and that is that secrets are wrong and that you need to admit them in order to have a happy life. For example Cyclonus refusing to admit to Tailgate that he loves him allows to manipulate him and nearly kill him, Rodimus refusing to reveal that was hidden caused multiple deaths including and Brainstorm again refusing to admit to caused him to just to save . however after the secrets are revealed the secret keepers decide to change and become better bots; Cyclonus FINALLY admits to Tailgate his love for him and the two become a couple, Rodimus grows up and stops being a ManChild and becomes a true leader and Brainstorm finds a new love in Nautica and the crew as a whole become true heroes.
