* StealthSequel: ''Galaxy Squad'' is actually a sequel to ''Toys/LegoMonsterFighters'', although this continuity isn't obvious from any of the sets or promotional media. As shown in a ''LEGO Club Magazine'' comic, the Buggoids are attracted to Earth because of a beacon of light emanated from Lord Vampyre's castle, and therefore the Galaxy Squad must intercept them before they invade Earth. Later, ''Galaxy Squad'' received its own StealthSequel: ''Toys/LegoUltraAgents'', which stars Solomon Blaze after retiring from Galaxy Squad but once again does not advertise this continuity in most media.

!!Tropes:
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: A few set names, like the Crater Creeper and Vermin Vaporizer.
* AlienAbduction: The Buggoids have purple pods with which to capture humans for unknown purposes.
* BugWar: The Galaxy Squad is fighting the Buggoids seemingly to stop the latter from abducting humans and expanding their swarm.
* ColorCodedCharacters: There are four differently-colored teams in the Galaxy Squad: Blue, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own specialty:
** Blue: Technology
** Red: Speed
** Orange: Firepower
** Green: Defense
* CombiningMecha: The turret section of Vermin Vaporizer can separate into a MiniMecha piloted by the Green Robot. The Eradicator Mech has a small ship portion that can detach. Otherwise, many of the Galaxy Squad's other vehicles are the "combining vehicles" variation.
* FragileSpeedster: The Red team, focused on speed, exclusively use small, quick-moving vehicles that are light on defense.
* InsectoidAliens: Come in many varieties. The humanoid types are the Buggoid (generic insect), Mosquitoid and Mantizoid. They all appear to have grown from larval forms found in the sets. There's also giant brick-built bugs.
* LukeNounverber: Ashlee Starstrider plays it the straightest with the noun + verb surname, but most of the other human characters also have futuristic-sounding compound words for last names.
* MechanicalInsects: Some of the Buggoids' vehicles are shaped like particular insects.
* MoreDakka: Orange team's specialty. Their vehicles are loaded with missile launchers and their robot carries a {{BFG}} in both of its set appearances.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Ashlee Starstrider of the Orange Team is the only female (human, at least) in the Theme.
* SpaceMarine: The titular squad, an elite unit who fight in space with high-tech weaponry.
