** Lotta Hart, a tabloid photographer with a Southern accent who appears in ''four'' cases in the series, much to the dismay of her haters. It doesn't help that whenever she appears, she takes some sort of photo of something involving the crime, and these photos are always horribly misleading. Even in Universe she is seen as irritating; Edgeworth straight up avoids her during AAI 1-5 because he doesn't want to talk to her, and when Franziska sees her again AAI 2-4, [[TakeThatScrappy she immediately attacks her with her whip before she's said hardly anything.]]

** Florent L'Belle (''Dual Destinies'', Episode 2) gets this for coming across as StupidEvil, and an inferior SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute for Redd White. L'Belle has a ludicrously complex plan involving murder, blackmail and ensuring that a town merger goes through, all to get access to one room so that he can steal a gold ingot. What makes L'Belle's plan so silly is that Phineas Filch managed to accomplish the same thing L'Belle spent months and massive amounts of resources planning to do, as shown in the same case. And Filch did it on a whim with a plan he came up with in ten minutes, and he only did it because he was bored. While complicated murder plots are nothing new for ''Ace Attorney'', the fact that [[CutLexLuthorACheck there was a much easier solution available]] along with an obnoxious personality means that few people liked L'Belle as an antagonist.

Teppei is a clear Hate Sink, and the entry brings up his despicable actions as the reason he is hated, henceforth he is not a Scrappy. A Scrappy must be hated for unintentional reasons

* ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'': Teppei Houjou for his chilling, inventive approach to child abuse. ** Most of the characters in the Berry Big Circus not named Acro, the victim, Max, [[VisualNovel/AceAttorneyInvestigationsMilesEdgeworth Sōta Sarushiro (Simon Keyes)]], or Regina Berry could qualify (though the last one is more of a BaseBreakingCharacter due to her naivety bordering on abject stupidity), but special mention goes to [=Trilo/Ben=] and Moe who are regarded as some of the most grating characters for different reasons. Moe has hated for his NonstandardCharacterDesign along with the fact '''Phoenix''' gets penalized if he gets off-tangent in his testimony (not to mention the reason this happens: He simply won't stop laughing at his own stupid jokes, and the Judge's so tired of it he'll take it out on Phoenix if he hears that damn laugh one more time. The man won't stop being a terrible clown for ''one minute'' even if it means ruining the entire case). Then we get to Trilo/Ben who is the most livid and lewd witness, beats up his partner, has a crush on a 16 year old girl, treats the defense like crap, and every time you try to present evidence to him he goes into a stuttering wreck which for some people, hits a little too close to home. All in all, the entirety of [[ThatOneLevel Turnabout Big Top]] becomes one of the franchise's worst cases due to this cast of awful performers that won't drop the act even in court, no matter how much it ruins things for everyone in the courtroom and no matter how utterly unfunny their act is in the first place, and who have zero respect for the entire process and everyone involved (especially you) to begin with.

Cleanup. Shinji Matou is listed as a Hate Sink.

** Shinji Matou. His crimes are numerous: He's a self-serving SmugSnake who treats his friends like garbage, and a weak magus but thinks himself too great and forces his way into the war... by forcing Sakura to yield Rider to him, and treats her like garbage anyway, calling her weak at times despite him actually holding back her true powers. Cleanup. Umineko When They Cry YMMV page claims that Maria was Rescued From The Scrappy Heap after Act 4 and is a Base Breaking Character. George "sexist" is subject of Alternate Character Interpretation.

* ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'':
** From the start, Maria is an annoying problem child. She throws temper tantrums when she doesn’t get her way, screams obnoxiously at every opportunity, and frequently goes into a full blown CreepyChild mode where she cackles manically, arrogantly flaunts her knowledge of magic, and shows little care for all the deaths happening around her. Unsurprisingly, she rubs many fans the wrong way. Unfortunately, almost nobody in-universe likes Maria much either. Her mother frequently beats her, everyone picks on her at school, her cousins look the other way at her abuse (albeit because they [[ValuesDissonance think it's an issue that Maria and Rosa should work out without external intervention]]), and her only friends are either imaginary, or as broken as she is. By the time we’re treated to a fantasy sequence where she imagines herself brutally tearing her mother apart, it’s hard to know whether to be disturbed or to cheer the poor girl on.
** George also gets this treatment for his [[EntitledToHaveYou creepy treatment]] [[WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency of Shannon]], sexism, and borderline DoggedNiceGuy tendencies. He never crosses the line fully into StalkerWithACrush, but the subtext is definitely there.

The information written was incorrect. In regards to Shinji ordering Gilgamesh to rip out Illya's heart, that never happened. That was entirely Gilgamesh's own plan, and Shinji had no idea that they were even at the Einzbern castle for her heart. The only reason he even does a HeelFaceTurn at the end of this route is due to a ''serious'' round of BreakTheHaughty, and considering his previous actions the fact that [[KarmaHoudini he doesn't need to actually do anything to redeem himself]] makes Shirou's - and the story's - claims that he's become a better person fall flat as a result.

Added DiffLines:

**** Justified in that Assassin-class Servants are typically meant to, well, ''assassinate'' Masters, not fight other Servants. This is why [[spoiler:Fake]] Assassin's ability to fight on par with other Servants was something of a surprise.

** Most of the characters in the Berry Big Circus not named Acro, the victim, Max, [[VisualNovel/AceAttorneyInvestigationsMilesEdgeworth Sōta Sarushiro (Simon Keyes)]], or Regina Berry could qualify though the last one is more of a BaseBreakingCharacter but special mention goes to Trilo/Ben and Moe who are regarded as some of the most grating characters for different reasons. Moe has hated for his NonstandardCharacterDesign along with the fact '''Phoenix''' gets penalized if he gets off-tangent in his testimony. Then we get to Trilo/Ben who is the most livid and lewd witness, beats up his partner, has a crush on a 16 year old girl, treats the defense like crap, and every time you try to present evidence to him he goes into a stuttering wreck which for some people, hits a little too close to home.
** In ''Spirit of Justice'', we have Bucky Whet for being an useless drunk defendant who only redeems himself at the end of Case 4, with a bizarre design (not ugly per se but just very weird for a 20 year old young man) constantly vomits in his mouth (to the point it becomes an unfunny gag) and faints, speaks extremely slurred, and gets people's names wrong particularly Athena.

Moe has hated for his NonstandardCharacterDesign along with the fact '''Phoenix''' gets penalized if he gets off-tangent in his testimony. testimony (not to mention the reason this happens: He simply won't stop laughing at his own stupid jokes, and the Judge's so tired of it he'll take it out on Phoenix if he hears that damn laugh one more time. The man won't stop being a terrible clown for ''one minute'' even if it means ruining the entire case). home.

He's not ''nearly'' this terrible when he's sober, but that is unfortunately uncommon.

* ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'': Teppei Houjou for his chilling, inventive approach to child abuse. During Satako's breakdown (especially the VN version), there's room for interpretation that the abuse wasn't just physical. It comes as no surprise that [[{{KickTheSonOfABitch}} his deaths are sometimes met with cheers instead of horror]] by the fans. Ironically, the series is very much against vigilantee action, meaning that the message is falling on deaf ears over his hatedom.

* While most of the characters in ''Franchise/DanganRonpa'' are well liked, there's a still a number of these throughout its run:
** Teruteru Hanamura from ''VisualNovel/SuperDanganRonpa2'', thanks to having a one-note personality that basically leads to him making suggestive comments to pretty much everyone (his EstablishingCharacterMoment is him wanting to trick Sonia into giving him a blowjob) and having an unattractive design. While [[spoiler:[[AlasPoorScrappy his execution in the first chapter did elate some pity for him]]]], it's offset by his Free Time Events, which give him very little actual character development and end in any development being squandered by a rather off-putting gag (an attempted BrickJoke towards ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaZero''). While he does have a few fans in the west, his position in Japanese polls is almost always around the bottom.
** Hiyoko Saionji is flagrantly despised by fans for bullying the more popular Mikan Tsumiki and Kazuichi Soda and rarely if ever getting comeuppance for it ([[spoiler:Mikan ends up killing her, but that's only because Hiyoko accidentally witnessed Mikan killing Ibuki]]). It doesn't help that her [=FTEs=] consist of her pushing Hinata around, acting like a bitch and almost never showing a nicer side (besides a FreudianExcuse that [[UnreliableNarrator may or may not be true]]). Granted, Anime/DanganRonpa3 did attempt to [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap rescue her from the scrappy heap]] but some fans [[NeverLiveItDown still remember her as the]] {{Jerkass}} [[TheBully bully]] from VisualNovel/SuperDanganRonpa2.
** Haiji Towa from ''VideoGame/AbsoluteDespairGirls'' is probably the most despised character in the franchise for a wide variety of reasons (though a certain character from ''VisualNovel/NewDanganRonpaV3'' may rival him in his unpopularity), chief among them being that he's the "leader" of the adults, but rarely if ever does any leading, preferring instead to instead lounge around and use his family name, is a confessed paedophile, a useless DirtyCoward, has absolutely no redeeming qualities, [[spoiler: arrests the heroines on a personal bias]] and [[spoiler:yells at Nagisa Shingetsu, a child in the midst of an emotional breakdown, causing him to attack Komaru and, after Nagisa is seemingly killed, Haiji ''makes a pun about it'']]. What ''really'' sealed this for many fans however is, in the final chapter, it's revealed that [[spoiler: Haiji was prone to physically abusing his younger sister Monaca and, according a written entry by him, did it out of a ''resentment complex'']]. Then, during the climax, [[spoiler: Haiji attempts to convince Komaru to break the Monokuma controller, which would doom thousands of innocent brainwashed children to a horrible death and most likely start a war.]] When [[spoiler: the game's BigBad]] gets more fans than you, you know something as gone very, very wrong.
** Fuhito Kirigiri got this after ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaKirigiri'' revealed him to be [[spoiler:a greedy, selfish old man who excommunicated his own son from the Kirigiris twice, only dragging him back the second time when he found out Jin had a daughter he could make heir, basically denying his protégée Shinsen his position in the progress and ultimately leading to most of Kyoko's issues.]]
** Most of the new characters in ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaTogami'' get this (with the exceptions of Shinobu Togami/"Blue Ink", Hiroyuki Ketouin, and Satomi Aoba). Most of them are accused of being underdeveloped, unlikable and generally feeling like fan characters. Suzuhiko Otsuki gets a blunt of this however, thanks to copying character traits from Toko Fukawa and provides a major DeusExMachina.
** Yasuhiro Hagakure was in the "too bland" corner, but once he became a DeadpanSnarker and CloudCuckooLander, [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap people warmed to him considerably.]] Or sometimes, it just doesn't work, people are also quick to dislike him because of his outlandish, useless predictions, or how [[{{Jerkass}} he can be very unsavory]] behind the back, especially when it comes to his debts (And by that, we mean the likes of begging his friend to donate his organs so he can pay his own personal debt). Making matters worse, he apparently has a pretty good luck to survive a lot of deadly situations like this game, making people sometimes lament, '''"WHY ISN'T HE DEAD ALREADY!?"'''
** A lot of people don't like Hifumi Yamada for being a stereotypical nerd, his perverted tendencies, the NoYay relationship between him and his crush [[ArtificialIntelligence Alter Ego]], [[spoiler: killing off Taka who became one of the most popular characters in the game (though, in his defense for that one, it was because Celeste told him that Kiyotaka raped her)]], and generally being unimportant for most of the plot. [[spoiler: [[AlasPoorScrappy People still felt bad when he died, though]].]]
** From ''VisualNovel/NewDanganRonpaV3'', the Monokuma Kubs (besides [[EnsembleDarkhorse Monodam]]) have become widely disliked by critics and fans, due to both their one-note personalities and grating behaviour. It doesn't help that they largely are only there for comic relief and how long their segments tend to go on for (which slows the story to a halt as they engage in their usual antics).
** Angie Yonaga. While nowhere near as hated as Shinguji as listed below, she is still one of the least popular characters. Common reasons include her cultist shtick being rather one-note and creepy, [[DieForOurShip her continued inference in Tenko Chabashira and Himiko Yumeno's relationship]], her perceived lack of character depths in an installment praised for more complex characterization and [[spoiler: hijacking everyone's efforts in Chapter 3 to impose her religious beliefs, which in practice makes her look like an unsympathetic, delusional tyrant]]. Even her attempted PetTheDog moment did little to satisfy fans, and some accuse her of being [[StrawCharacter strawman]] for which Kodaka can project his views on religion.
** Korekiyo Shinguji would of been an outright HateSink character if it weren't for [[WordOfGod Kodaka's]] confirmation that he wasn't meant to be one. The main complaints towards him is [[spoiler: his [[BrotherSisterIncest incestuous relationship with his sister]], committing the most unsympathetic murder in the game]], and his QuestionableConsent in his LoveHotel scene. He might as well be tied with Haiji Towa in award of the most hated character in the franchise.
** Tsumugi Shirogane. While not as central to the plot as Angie and Korekiyo were, [[OutOfFocus it's actually one of many problems people have with her.]] Any screen time she does get shows that she is a relatively shallow character who just spouts anime, manga, and video game references every chance she gets, often at complete random, which can come off as annoying and cringe-inducing to some players. That's not even getting into her English voice, [[MostAnnoyingSound which many people find very grating to listen to]], even more so than the complaints against Sayaka, who was also voiced by Creator/DorothyEliasFahn. [[spoiler: TheReveal that she was the Mastermind all along didn't help either, [[AntiClimaxBoss as she barely puts up a fight after she's outed (you literally just point out the secret entrance in the girl's bathroom, and she only defends herself once)]], [[BigBadWannabe is a watered-down version of Junko minus any of the charm or intimidation of the character she's trying to emulate]], and [[WhatAnIdiot makes a lot of stupid decisions that end up creating plotholes]] (IE; giving [[ManipulativeBastard Kokichi]] and [[WouldHitAGirl Korekiyo]] personalities that would put both herself and her career in a lot of danger). All of her character flaws coupled with [[TrumanShowPlot the game's divisive ending]], and Tsumugi has the honor of becoming one of the most hated characters in the franchise just mere ''months'' after [[Anime/DanganRonpa3 Kazuo Tengan]] earned the title.]]
