** Tsumugi Shirogane. While not as central to the plot as Angie and Korekiyo were, [[OutOfFocus it's actually one of many problems people have with her.]] Any screen time she does get shows that she is a relatively shallow character who just spouts anime, manga, and video game references every chance she gets, often at complete random, which can come off as annoying and cringe-inducing to some players. That's not even getting into her English voice, [[MostAnnoyingSound which many people find very grating to listen to]], even more so than the complaints against Sayaka, who was also voiced by Creator/DorothyEliasFahn. [[spoiler: TheReveal that she was the Mastermind all along didn't help either, [[AntiClimaxBoss as she barely puts up a fight after she's outed (you literally just point out the secret entrance in the girl's bathroom, and she only defends herself once)]], [[BigBadWannabe is a watered-down version of Junko minus any of the charm or intimidation of the character she's trying to emulate]], and [[WhatAnIdiot makes a lot of stupid decisions that end up creating plotholes]] (IE; giving [[ManipulativeBastard Kokichi]] and [[WouldHitAGirl Korekiyo]] personalities that would put both herself and her career in a lot of danger). All of her character flaws coupled with [[TrumanShowPlot the game's divisive ending]], and Tsumugi has the honor of becoming one of the most hated characters in the franchise just mere ''months'' after [[Anime/DanganRonpa3 Kazuo Tengan]] earned the title.]]

** Also from ''Apolo Justice'', Zak Gramarye. Most players agree that is both a despicable human being and nonsensically and inconsistently written (at times he's written as if he and [[spoiler:Shadi Smith]] aren't even the same person). Most of his fans only like him ironically, for [[Webcomic/{{Hiimdaisy}} the sheer comedic value there is in shining a light on how heartless his actions were]].

Lolicon and shotacon have been disambiguated. Links with too little context are being removed - "paedo" is not always a trope, examples where the tropeworthiness is unclear are being removed. Also, please do not use "loli" as a synonym for little girl; see Lolicon And Shotacon as to why not

** Haiji Towa from ''VideoGame/AbsoluteDespairGirls'' is probably the most despised character in the franchise for a wide variety of reasons (though a certain character from ''VisualNovel/NewDanganRonpaV3'' may rival him in his unpopularity), chief among them being that he's the "leader" of the adults, but rarely if ever does any leading, preferring instead to instead lounge around and use his family name, is a confessed {{Lolicon}}, a useless DirtyCoward, has absolutely no redeeming qualities, [[spoiler: arrests the heroines on a personal bias]] and [[spoiler:yells at Nagisa Shingetsu, a child in the midst of an emotional breakdown, causing him to attack Komaru and, after Nagisa is seemingly killed, Haiji ''makes a pun about it'']]. What ''really'' sealed this for many fans however is, in the final chapter, it's revealed that [[spoiler: Haiji was prone to physically abusing his younger sister Monaca and, according a written entry by him, did it out of a ''resentment complex'']]. Then, during the climax, [[spoiler: Haiji attempts to convince Komaru to break the Monokuma controller, which would doom thousands of innocent brainwashed children to a horrible death and most likely start a war.]] When [[spoiler: the game's BigBad]] gets more fans than you, you know something as gone very, very wrong.

** Angie Yonaga. While nowhere near as hated as Shinguuji as listed below, she is still one of the least popular characters. Common reasons include her cultist shtick being rather one-note and creepy, [[DieForOurShip her continued inference in Chabashira and Yumeno's relationship]], her perceived lack of character depths in an instalment praised for more complex characterization and [[spoiler: hijacking everyone's efforts in Chapter 3 to impose her religious beliefs, which in practice makes her look like an unsympathetic, delusional tyrant]]. Even her attempted PetTheDog moment did little to satisfy fans, and some accuse her of being strawman for which Kodaka can project his views on religion.

These are all "according to the fans".

** In Spirit of Justice according to the fans we have Bucky Whet for being an useless drunk defendant who only redeems himself at the end of Case 4, with a bizarre design (not ugly per se but just very weird for a 20 year old young man) constantly vomits in his mouth (to the point it becomes an unfunny gag) and faints, speaks extremely slurred, and gets people's names wrong particularly Athena.

Making matters worse, he apparently has a pretty good luck to survive a lot of deadly situations like this game, making people sometimes lament, '''"WHY ISN'T HE DEAD ALREADY!?"'''
** A lot of people don't like Hifumi for being a stereotypical nerd, his perverted tendencies, the NoYay relationship between him and his crush [[ArtificialIntelligence Alter Ego]], [[spoiler: killing off Taka who became one of the most popular characters in the game (though, in his defense for that one, it was because Celeste told him that Kiyotaka raped her)]], and generally being unimportant for most of the plot. ** From VisualNovel/NewDanganRonpaV3, the Monokuma Cubs (besides [[EnsembleDarkhorse Monodam]]) have become widely disliked by critics and fans, due to both their one-note personalities and grating behaviour. ** Korekiyo would of been an outright HateSink character if it weren't for [[WordOfGod Kodaka's]] confirmation that he wasn't meant to be one. The main complaints towards him is [[spoiler: his [[BrotherSisterIncest incestuous relationship with his sister]], committing the most unsympathetic murder in the game]], and his QuestionableConsent in his LoveHotel scene. ** Most of the new characters in ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaTogami'' get this (with the exceptions of Shinobu Togami/"Blue Ink", Hiroyuki Ketouin, and Satomi Aoba). Most of them are accused of being underdeveloped, unlikable and generally feeling like fan characters. Suzuhiko Otsuki gets a blunt of this however, thanks to being a CanonSue who copies character traits from Toko Fukawa and provides a major DeusExMachina.

Removing some of the characters that are technically considered to be Base-Breaking Characters than a complete Scrappy.

** Spark Brushel in ''[[VisualNovel/ApolloJusticeAceAttorney Apollo Justice]]''. It doesn't help at all that his Perception tic is a GuideDangIt; specifically, it's [[spoiler:a sweaty armpit]], not where most people would even think (or want) to look.

** Most of the characters in the Berry Big Circus not named Acro, the victim, Max, or [[VisualNovel/AceAttorneyInvestigationsMilesEdgeworth Sōta Sarushiro (Simon Keyes)]] could qualify but special mention goes to Trilo/Ben and Regina Berry who are regarded as some of the most grating characters for different reasons. Regina for being a naive ditzy blonde who doesn't understand the concept of death until the very end of Case 2-3, having a relationship with the aforementioned [[CargoShip inanimate object]] (or 35 year old man, pick your poison), completely and conveniently forgetting Acro's brother exists (again till the end of the case), but happens again when she's in I2 as Bat is never mentioned by her at all, and being a ThirdPersonPerson in Investigations 2. Then we get to Trilo/Ben who is the most livid and lewd witness, beats up his partner, has a crush on a 16 year old girl, treats the defense like crap, and every time you try to present evidence to him he goes into a stuttering wreck which for some people, hits a little too close to home.
** In Spirit of Justice according to the fans we have two, the ''main prosecutor'' Nahyuta Sadhmadhi and Bucky Whet. Bucky for being a useless drunk defendant who only redeems himself at the end of Case 4, with a bizarre design (not ugly per se but just very weird for a 20 year old young man) constantly vomits in his mouth (to the point it becomes an unfunny gag) and faints, speaks extremely slurred, and gets people's names wrong particularly Athena. Then we get to Nahyuta "Sad monk" Sadhmadhi who is easily the least popular main prosecutor. He calls the defense "putrid" says they and the defendant are going to burn in hell, is overly religious by reading scriptures all the time, is far crueler to the defedants than previous prosecutors not named Manfred, and has that constant extremely loud clap that acts as a jump scare at times. People also find his demeanor of smiling as he sends [[spoiler: Phoenix and Apollo to their potential deaths]] and cruel comments to the defense to be way too cruel with his only real redeeming qualities being his trust of Ema Skye and [[spoiler: the fact that he's doing it all for his little sister and mother who weren't assassinated but many fans decry "Too little too late" for him and ShowDontTell. ** Most of the characters in the Berry Big Circus not named Acro, the victim, Max, or Simon Keyes could qualify but special mention goes to Trilo/Ben and Regina Berry who are regarded as some of the most grating characters for different reasons.

* Angie. While nowhere near as hated as [[HateSink Shinguuji]], she is still one of the least popular characters.

While Hate Sink and The Scrappy can overlap, it must explain why he is hated to an uninteintial degree.

** Korekiyo Shinguuji is ''easily'' the most despised member of the games cast (and may very well be the most hated character among the main games period) thanks to [[spoiler: murdering two students (one of whom being much beloved [[BadassGay Tenko]] [[NiceGirl Chabashira]]) over an intensely disturbing incestuous relationship with his sister]]. While some argue him to be a HateSink, most still despise him for being equal parts repulsive and unlikable.
