** Saionji is flagrantly despised by fans for bullying the more popular Tsumiki and Souda and rarely if ever getting comeuppance for it. It doesn't help that her [=FTEs=] consist of her pushing Hinata around, acting like a bitch and almost never showing a nicer side (besides a FreudianExcuse that [[UnreliableNarrator may or may not be true]]).

** The Servant of Zouken Matou, [[spoiler:True Assassin]] is also widely disliked - being limited to a single story path (''Heaven's Feel'') and not getting much characterisation tends to do that to you. [[spoiler:True Assassin]] is mostly regarded with apathy rather than outright hate, and ''does'' have his fans, but nonetheless doesn't win points for being, to some, a ReplacementScrappy for [[spoiler:the first, 'Fake' Assassin]], who is a fairly well-liked character in his own right and [[spoiler:needs to be ''eaten'' to bring True Assassin (whose ImAHumanitarian aspects are also frowned upon) into the picture.]]

** From the start, Maria is an annoying problem child. She throws temper tantrums when she doesn’t get her way, screams obnoxiously at every opportunity, and frequently goes into a full blown CreepyChild mode where she cackles manically, arrogantly flaunts her knowledge of magic, and shows little care for all the deaths happening around her. Unsurprisingly, she rubs many fans the wrong way. Unfortunately, almost nobody in-universe likes Maria much either. Her mother frequently beats her, everyone picks on her at school, her cousins look the other way at her abuse, and her only friends are either imaginary, or as broken as she is. By the time we’re treated to a fantasy sequence where she imagines herself brutally tearing her mother apart, it’s hard to know whether to be disturbed or to cheer the poor girl on.

** ''Dual Destinies'''s Florent L'Belle, for his ComplexityAddiction, StupidEvil, and [[spoiler:MeaninglessVillainVictory-even-if-you-lose]]. Unsurprisingly, most fans view him as the worst villain in the game -- with some even extending that criteria to the '''''franchise'''''.

** George also gets this reaction for his creepy treatment of Shannon, sexism, and borderline {{Yandere}} tendencies. This doesn't even take into account [[spoiler: the Rosatrice Culprit Theory.]]

* ''VisualNovel/UminekoNoNakuKoroNi'':

** Many fans consider Mike Meekins to be the worst of the worst, due in no small part that he talks through an ear-screeching megaphone every few seconds. Thankfully, he ditched the megaphone in AceAttorneyInvestigations, but many fans still hate him for being obnoxious and stupid.
** Zinc Lablanc II, the [[NoIndoorVoice loud]] [[JerkAss obnoxious]] art dealer from ''AceAttorneyInvestigations'' who constantly sticks his nose into the investigation. Despised so much that players were ''wishing'' he was the murderer just so he can be arrested or totally not minding if his fall ended in with his death (and neither does any of the characters but Gumshoe).
** Also from ''AceAttorneyInvestigations'', Calisto Yew. It's difficult to find a fan who doesn't find her annoying. Also, [[spoiler: Being Shih-na hasn't helped her gaining fans]].

** Teruteru Hanamura from ''VisualNovel/SuperDanganRonpa2'' is possibly the arcatypel one for the franchise as a whole, thanks to having a one-note personality that basically leads to him making suggestive comments to pretty much everyone (his EstablishingCharacterMoment is him wanting to trick Sonia into giving him a blowjob) and having an unattractive design. Admitting, [[spoiler: his death in the first trial did elate some pity from him]], it's offset by his Free Time Events, which give him very little actual character development and end in any development being squandered by a rather off-putting gag (an attempted BrickJoke towards ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaZero''). While he does have a few fans in the west, his position in Japanese polls is almost always around the bottom.

** Haiji Towa from ''VideoGame/AbsoluteDespairGirls'' is probably the most despised character in the franchise for a wide variety of reasons, chief among them being that he's the "leader" of the adults, but rarely if ever does any leading, preferring instead to instead lounge around and use his family name, being a confessed {{Lolicon}}, a useless DirtyCoward, has absolutely no redeeming qualities, [[spoiler: arrests the heroines on a personal bias]] and [[spoiler: yells at Shingetsu, a child in the midst of an emotional breakdown, causing him to attack Komaru and, after Shingetsu is seemingly killed, Haiji ''makes a pun about it'']]. What ''really'' sealed this for many fans however is, in the final chapter, it's revealed that [[spoiler: Haiji was prone to physically abusing his younger sister Monaka and, according a written entry by him, did it out of a ''resentment complex'']]. Then, during the climax, [[spoiler: Haiji attempts to convince Komaru to break the Monokuma controller, which would thousonds of innocent brainwashed children to a horrible death and most likely start a war.]] When [[spoiler: the games BigBad]] gets more fans than you, you know something as gone very, very wrong.
** Fuhito Kirigiri got this after ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaKirigiri'' revealed him to be [[spoiler: a greedy, selfish old man who excommunicated his own son from the Kirigiri's twice, only dragging him back the second time when he found out Jin had a daughter he could make heir, basically denying his protégée Shinsen his position in the progress and ultimetly leading to most of Kyouko's issues.]]
** Most of the new characters in ''LightNovel/DanganRonpaTogami'' get this (with the exceptions of Shinobu, Hiroyuki and Aoba). Most of them are accused of being underdeveloped, unlikeable and generally feeling like fan characters. Ootsuki get a blunt of this however, thanks to being a CanonSue who copies character traits from Fukawa and provides a major DuesExMachina.

* ''Franchise/DanganRonpa'':
** Yasuhiro Hagakure, both in and out of universe, and for a good amount of reasons. For one, he is pretty stupid to a RIDICULOUS level for a man of his age [[spoiler: he 20, 21 in the US]], and at one point during the fifth class trial for [[spoiler: Mukuro Ikusaba]] the player has to literally go out of their way and present evidence to Hiro that [[spoiler: Kyoko]] is not a ghost.. [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe and yes the rest of the cast reacted as you would have guessed]]. It also does not help his case is Hiro is a pretty blatant [[JerkAss jerk]] at times and even stated up front that he [[WouldHitAGirl would fight a girl weaker than him. ]] [[spoiler: Though he chooses not too because well that girl is a serial killer.]] and often in about 3/5 of the class trials in the game it's Hiro or something that's related to Hiro ends up being a focal point of it. Though one his biggest off-put's is that he's basically a con man (except his talent surprisingly enough is real) and at the of his FTE in school mode he attempts to con Makoto in selling his organs so he can pay off a debt to the yakuza [[TheFriendNobodyLikes needless to say Makoto is not very pleased.]]

** Zouken Matou generally gets tons of hate as well - he's considered so thoroughly despicable with such dreadful deeds to his name that his FreudianExcuse - abeit a pretty weak one to begin with - earns him next to zero sympathy from the audience despite being a legitimate one (there's only so far a ''reason'' for being a JerkAss can actually justify one's bad behaviour, after all). Sakura fans in particular despise him. His Servant, [[spoiler:True Assassin]] is also widely disliked - being limited to a single story path (''Heaven's Feel'') and not getting much characterisation tends to do that to you. * ''VisualNovel/HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi'': Teppei Houjou for his chilling, inventive approach to child abuse. During Satako's breakdown (especially the VN version), there's room for interpretation that the abuse wasn't just physical. It comes as no surprise that [[{{KickTheSonOfABitch}} his deaths are sometimes met with cheers instead of horror]] by the fans. Ironically, the series is very much against vigilantee action, meaning that the message is falling on deaf ears over his hatedom.

** Director Hotti, the creepy "doctor" at Hotti Clinic. He's creepily obsessed with his female patients, even going so far as to steal Ini's photo and hit on a wounded Franziska. Unlike the others who serve some real purpose, this guy only helps you out once.

* ''VisualNovel/HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi'': Teppei Houjou, for being a lazy, parasitic EvilUncle scumbag who's only capable of living off of other people's money. During Satako's breakdown (especially the VN version), there's room for interpretation. that other kind of abuses occurred. It comes as no surprise that [[{{KickTheSonOfABitch}} his deaths are sometimes met with cheers instead of horror]] by the fans.

** Shinji Matou. His crimes are numerous: He's a self-serving SmugSnake who treats his friends like garbage, and a weak magus but thinks himself too great and forces his way into the war... by forcing Sakura to yield Rider to him, and treats her like garbage anyway, calling her weak at times despite him actually holding back her true powers. He still scolds and abuses Sakura a lot for 'staying' with Shiro, even [[spoiler:''raping'' her (maybe Rider too) on a daily basis to vent his frustration.]] It doesn't help matters that the only route which sets out to redeem him (the UBW route), he arguably becomes worse than in any other story path, what with him [[spoiler: cruelly ordering Gilgamesh to ''rip out'' [[CutePsycho Ilya's]] heart, laughing as he watched it happen]]. The only reason he even does a HeelFaceTurn at the end of this route is due to a ''serious'' round of BreakTheHaughty, and considering his previous actions the fact that [[KarmaHoudini he doesn't need to actually do anything to redeem himself]] makes Shirou's - and the story's - claims that he's become a better person fall flat as a result.
*** In Heaven feels, when [[spoiler: he is killed by Sakura in self-defense]] it seems, that he broke from the [[spoiler: The strain of being the end of the magic in the Matou/Makiri bloodline]] long ago, so it's actually possible to feel a bit of pity for him.

* ''VisualNovel/AceAttorney''

** Klavier Gavin has the fanbase [[BrokenBase split]]. Some love him for being not all in it for the winz, as the von Karma's, Godot (specifically against Phoenix) and Edgeworth (before his enlightenment) were. Others hate him for being too friendly with Apollo, hence making the trial segments lack any semblance of conflict.

** Kay Faraday, Edgeworth's plucky girl sidekick from ''Ace Attorney Investigations''. Despite the fact that she basically is to Edgeworth what Maya is to Phoenix Wright and isn't even in two of the cases, she seems to get on [[BrokenBase some]] people's nerves.
