At best Rutee is a Base Breaker, especially when compared to Leon considering that he regularly shocked the party on multiple occasions in the original. Rutee's greed only ever became significant in the Bad Ending where she and the rest of the party beat and become unstoppable bandits which admittedly pretty out of character for all of them.

* ''VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny'': Rutee in the original game. She's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold {{Tsundere}} OnlyInItForTheMoney with too much emphasis on the jerk part, too much story sympathy, and violent interactions with characters who don't deserve it. Added with the DieForOurShip from Stahn[=/=]Leon fans, she's not well-liked at all, though her Jerkass tendencies were toned down in the remake, much like Leon's, and she shows remorse for some of her actions, like insulting Philia.

Must explain why it's unintentional hate.

** Sodia also tends to get a lot of hate, mostly due to [[spoiler:stabbing Yuri at the end of part 2. To be fair, she ''instantly'' regrets it.]] In her case, it doesn't help that many view her as a [[{{Clingy Jealous Girl}} Clingy Jealous Fangirl]] or that she's EasilyForgiven, the latter being false because [[spoiler: Yuri]] makes it perfectly clear that she is not forgiven and that Flynn not knowing is only because he needs someone he can trust by his side.

When Lloyd and company show up to save her, Magnius reveals Lloyd killed Chocolat's grandmother Marble back in Iselia. Chocolat freaks out, ''refuses'' to accept that Lloyd tried to ''save'' Marble, only killing her because [[MercyKill she asked him to]], and [[WhatAnIdiot Chocolat willingly allows the Desians to take her away rather than be rescued by Lloyd]]. Much later in the game, the group must infiltrate the Iselia Human Ranch, and Chocolat still refuses to thank Lloyd and only allows the group to save her begrudgingly. The game does attempt to redeem her by having her call out the HateSink Mayor of Iselia, but in the eyes of many players, it's too little, too late.

** Mohs is just repulsive [[spoiler:and for being the direct cause of Ion's death]]. He could look like a HateSink, but then the party expressed pity [[spoiler:when he died after a power overload due to his new form.]] But after all the time he spent of not only [[spoiler:Ion's death]], but constant stoneheaded rambling about fulfilling the Score, which even before then, was considered a ''complete hogwash''... In other words, he's supposed to be a caricature of religion fundamentalist that missed the point of his own bible and completely oblivious about it, thinking that he's always right. [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic Not exactly someone who would be given sympathy, even in-universe.]]

** Karol is hated by many in the fanbase for being slow, [[TierInducedScrappy useless,]] and the token kid character of the game. Not to mention his big character development is supposedly gaining the courage to risk his life for his friends, which seems like small potatoes when Yuri and Estelle were risking their lives to help total strangers right from the beginning of the game. It's also easy to question whether it isn't irresponsible of him to try and tag along with the Hunting Blades on monster hunts or the party on their dangerous travels when he's too cowardly not to [[TheLoad leave them in a lurch at the first sign of trouble]].\\
It also doesn't help that he ''never shuts up'' about guilds, especially once Brave Vesperia is formed, and he claims that he'd been thinking of the exact same laws Yuri thought up, but when asked for laws he had no answer and was confused by the laws Yuri gave until Estelle contributed her own ideas for laws (it should be noted there was no explaining what Yuri meant- he and Estelle just listed a few more laws). It's supposed to be sincere, but it doesn't come off that way when Karol has been claiming things like that the entire game thus far to make himself look good. He also develops a habit of either including Rita, Raven, and Estelle in the guild, or acting like they should stay behind while Brave Vesperia goes on to do things (depending on how you take his wording of "Brave Vesperia will do X" when he really means the entire team). Something nobody, not even Rita or Raven, call him out on. As noted above in DecoyProtagonist, the story also seems to shift to be less about Yuri (or Estelle) and more about Karol after Ghasfarost, making him something of a SpotlightStealingSquad member.

He has the appearance of a stereotypical Final Fantasy villain which makes his role in the story rather obvious and seems to always be angsting about the past. ** Nova has gained a small hatedom for being the face of the game's debt system, which restricts your travel to certain places. She also has a tendency to harass you with phone calls asking for payments, often by "playing robber" to Ludger who is legitimately being blackmailed and robbed, all while never losing her GenkiGirl attitude. However, the game ''does'' acknowledge that her always-on cheeriness can be annoying, and you get a chance to yell at her later (which makes her nervous whenever she calls for the next couple of chapters). She asks outright at one point that you not hate since she's just doing her job.
** Rideaux is an in-universe Scrappy, but the game still goes out of its way to make you hate him with the same passion the game characters do. The least of which includes saddling Ludger with a 15 million Gald bill for treating his and Elle's injuries, and takes Elle hostage which forces Ludger to take out a loan to pay him. It's all his fault you have to deal with the above mentioned debt system.

However, the game ''does'' acknowledge that her always-on cheeriness can be annoying, and you get a chance to yell at her later (which makes her nervous whenever she calls for the next couple of chapters). [[ArsonMurderAnJaywalking Also she has a really annoying, whiny voice.]] The game does attempt to redeem her by having her call out fellow, intentional TheScrappy, the Mayor of Iselia, but in the eyes of many players, it's too little, too late.

** In a game full of despicable villains, Rodyle is arguably the least-liked of the Desian Grand Cardinals, mostly for the way he treats Presea and [[MoralEventHorizon drowns a bunch of hostages in his Human Ranch just to spite Lloyd's group.]] However, he also just simply isn't as cool as some of the other Grand Cardinals, not as [[LargeHam hammy]] as Magnius, as cunning as Kvar or having any NobleDemon qualities like Forcystus and his outfit is ''ridiculous''.

Estelle is not considered a Scrappy on her Series home YMMV, Patty and Marta are considered Base Breaking Characters.

* Many ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia'' fans look down on Karol and Estelle, claiming that they're a textbook idiotic KidHero and a textbook NaiveEverygirl with less than stellar AI, respectively. They receive more character focus than some of the other characters in the party as well ([[TeenGenius Rita]], [[MsFanservice Judith]], and [[CoolOldGuy Raven]]), emphasizing their Scrappyness for their haters.
** Latter addition [[TokenMiniMoe Patty]] has been getting a lot of heat in America for [[DummiedOut not being in the XBox 360 version]], messing up the dynamics of Yuri's TrueCompanions, and her [[LethalJokeCharacter strange battle style]]. Her seemingly {{lolicon|AndShotacon}}-pandering alternate costumes don't help matters in the slightest.

* Rose from ''VideoGame/TalesOfZestiria''. Rose from ''VideoGame/TalesOfZestiria''. She's hated is generally viewed in Japan as being a Scrappy in part due to the whole Alisha controversy, but also due to the game's rather poor writing for many reasons, her character, such as her being [[spoiler: part of a group of "pure-hearted" assassins who only targets people who have bad intentions in their eyes]], which is flimsily justified in game. Other reasons include her ability to Armatize with the Seraphs on the grounds that [[spoiler:Dezel possessing her somehow allows her to do so]], and how much of her character seems rushed including replacing [[EnsembleDarkhorse Alisha]], a character advertised as the games heroine, coming across a PuritySue due to being a "pure hearted assassin" in a world filled with GrayAndGrayMorality, gaining the power of [[FusionDance armatization]] with a very weak justification as to why, backstory and how the writers [[CharacterShilling shill her]] even more than [[VideoGame/TalesOfXillia Milla Maxwell]]. She's less divisive in the west, but there are still some who feel this way.
** Symmone due to her {{wangst}} and nihilism. She spends pretty much every scene she's in going about despair and loneliness and suffers BadassDecay over the course of the story.
** The main villain, Heldalf, is commonly criticized for being a stereotypical RPG villain. He only appears three times in the game and none of them really have much of an impact. He speaks like he is cribbing dialogue from Star Wars, and his plans fall apart pretty easily. It doesn't help that he is slow to act in any sort of way, to the point [[spoiler: where you can literally fight and beat him in the first half of the story.]] While he does apparently have the goal of ending pain in the world, his means of accomplishing it via killing everyone or turning them into hellions make little sense compared to the other {{Well Intentioned Extremist}}s of the series.
** For people who hate the anime Sorey and Alisha became this, the former for seeming too distant from his seraphim counterparts, being too serious, and having powers that are beyond the capabilities of his game counterpart. While the latter [[SpotlightStealingSquad ended up getting far too much focus that it threw off pacing and came to the detriment to several other characters, including Sorey.]] And like Sorey
she is in the states due able to the Alisha controversy.do things that her game counterpart couldn't [[spoiler: like armatize and become queen.]]

Reala is Americans Hate Tingle and Nanaly's problem is that most people are not aware of how to actually use the game engine.

* It's very hard to find fans of Reala, from ''VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny2''. Her status as a SpotlightStealingSquad is undeniable (Though like with Shirley's example, there's [[{{Misblamed}} a bit more to it than that]]), and she's also accused of other sins ([[PuritySue Sue]] tendencies, bad AI, [[NoodlePeople creepy]] [[EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette design]], overall blandness). It really says something when the characters chosen to represent the game alongside [[KidHero Kyle]] in ''Tales of VS.'' were [[EnsembleDarkhorse Nanaly and Harold]] instead of her (since she's pretty much the co-protagonist). Although she does make an appearance of a bonus boss in VideoGame/TalesOfGraces.
** Nanaly is also a TierInducedScrappy in her original game, because her arrows are utterly useless and hard to hit with compared to fast melee and hard-hitting magic, and without abusing a glitch in the [=PS2=] version she only has one hi-ougi whereas other characters have four or five each. It's very rare to see her used after Harold, the most powerful spellcaster in the game, joins the party. Odd, as in terms of characterization she's an EnsembleDarkhorse, and if you take account her other appearances like in ''Tales of the World'' or ''Tales of Versus'', she's an absolute beast when the game engine from her home series did not bog her down.

Lolicon and shotacon have been disambiguated. Links with too little context are being removed - "paedo" is not always a trope, examples where the tropeworthiness is unclear are being removed. Also, please do not use "loli" as a synonym for little girl; see Lolicon And Shotacon as to why not

Her seemingly {{lolicon}}-pandering alternate costumes don't help matters in the slightest.

The entry for Shirley outright said she is a Base-Breaking Character in Japan and that hate for her is a case of Americans Hate Tingle. I removed Colette because the entry indicated that the bashing of her character has long since died down (entry also indicated much of the reason had to do with Die For Our Ship). Discussed on the Scrappy thread:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13598973560A64980100&page=61#1523

** Colette in [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia the first game]] was also ''infamously'' bashed back in the day for constantly apologizing, her occasional DamselInDistress tendencies, her "[[DeusExMachina tripping plot power]]" being used constantly to resolve plot problems, and for the game forcing Lloyd/Colette on the player a ''little'' too much (especially for those who ship Lloyd/Sheena). The hate has certainly died down, and more people are voicing a liking to her, but the hate shall never be forgotten.
* ''VideoGame/TalesOfLegendia'''s Shirley Fennes. Fans just hate her for her voice, her DistressedDamsel tendencies, and that one scene where fans take it like [[{{Yandere}} "Senel, either you love me, or I'll nuke your world."]] ([[{{Misblamed}} Which isn't entirely accurate...]]) There are quite a few who like her though. [[AmericansHateTingle The hate is much stronger in America]], as she's a simple BaseBreakingCharacter in Japan.
** Walter Delques is another example. He's posed to be TheRival or sorts for the main story, serving the lesser evil faction (compared to Vaclav and Solon) and incredibly aloof... [[{{Jerkass}} for the wrong reasons]]. Simply put, Walter ends up more like a condescending jackass that belittles the party at every time possible, [[FantasticRacism the highest degree of racist]] amongst the Ferines that sometimes go beyond reasons (such as preferring to let the world get doomed instead of even working with Orerines), and eventually reveals that there's an additional reason he does that. Is it a sympathetic reason? [[EvilIsPetty NOPE!]] He's just jealous at [[TheHero Senel]]. All in all, while TheRival characters tend to be cool and sometimes a jerk can have their own charm in this series, Walter has none and instead comes off extremely annoying that he might not get a lot of LoveToHate treatment compared to some other villains there.
