* ''Manga/VictoryFive'': Chiri[[spoiler:/Bellion]], because despite this being a sequel series to the Anime/RobotRomanceTrilogy, she gets a large amount of focus even though she's a CanonImmigrant. Those who despise ''Victory Five'''s {{Fanservice}} are also put off with how she tends to receive a lot of nude scenes despite looking like a child.

** Anna Heartfilia earned some curiosity given her connection to Zeref and the Dragon Slayers, but fell into this trope when she was revealed to have come to the present with them. She leaves several {{Plot Hole}}s in the process (such as how people in on the 400-Year Plan like Zeref and Aquarius did not seem to know this), giving flimsy excuses as to why she never contacted ''anyone'' for the past 15 years, and only served to introduce a plot device that would give Acnologia an anticlimactic end while denying readers the long-awaited showdown between him and the Dragon Slayers. Her plan doesn't even work, instead making Acnologia even ''more'' powerful, making her reintroduction in the story come off as pointless, though it did set the stage for two cathartic final battles against Acnologia's dragon persona and his human persona when his power became so chaotic that the two separated. In essence, her status as this relates to many considering her another example of TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter. However, the epilogue reveals Anna is now a teacher, and that gives her a chance to impart some of her wisdom from the past to future generations.

The Scrappy requires the character be nigh-unanimously hated, but Espimon does have fans and people who find him funny outside of the Running Gag, like Jellymon using him as a taser and his screaming "I hate my life!"

* ''Anime/DigimonGhostGame'': Espimon quickly became the most hated character in the show. The biggest reason is his unfunny [[RunningGag running gag]] where he thought that Hiro was a "fake" due to [[LiteralMinded not looking exactly like Hokuto]], even after Hiro explains to Espimon that he's the "real" Hiro despite not being Hokuto's "spitting image." Additionally, said running gag was not only unfunny, but it also rapidly got on fans' nerves because it went on for 20+ episodes. Along with Espimon's one-note characterization of being an unfunny comic relief character, his subplot is [[ShaggyDogStory overall useless]] to the show. His subplot of [[spoiler: wanting to evolve]] is resolved [[AntiClimax rather hurriedly and without much build-up]], with said [[spoiler: evolution]] being the reason he abruptly accepts Hiro as "real" [[spoiler: after Hiro helps him evolve]]. Espimon's subplot being suddenly resolved brought much relief to fans because it meant the end of the despised "fake Hiro" running gag, but it was too little, too late because of the overall irrelevance of the character.

** Alessi is a strong contender for the most universally hated character in Part 3, and possibly all of ''[=JoJo=]''. ** Typically, by the end of the series, all the fan hatred has, in an interesting meta-contrast to the ending, been shifted towards Kaname Ohgi. And at the end of the series, he gets one of the happiest endings out of all of the cast by being HappilyMarried with Villetta Nu. He even became the ''Prime Minister of Japan'' while two of the main characters -- [[spoiler:Lelouch and Suzaku]] -- get much less ideal endings, which made him even more hated by several fans of the show. This was amplified by the knowledge that [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom Ohgi's actions basically led to the final arc and the particularly sad endings for Lelouch and Suzaku]], which have been a matter of controversy among various fans.

** It's really difficult to find anyone that likes Seishu Akoya due to his extreme vigilante tactics, which makes even The Punisher look like a reasonable person by comparison, and because he has little to no character development or interaction with other characters besides Hiyama. His role in Omega has mitigated this somewhat, though those who like him still do so in a LoveToHate way.
** Raian Kure also counts. He has nothing likeable about him, and is a cruel asshole to even his own family, whom he frequently threatens to kill. This wouldn't be so bad, if he were written as a HateSink, but the writers of the manga seem to consider him to be an anti-hero at worst, treating his refusal to use techniques as his most negative trait, as opposed to that trait being... well, everything else about him. Even from the perspective of him being a fighter, the fact that Raian's strength comes from [[BornWinner a gift born of eugenics]] that borders on outright fantastical [[SmugSuper makes him rather difficult to root for]]. It doesn't help that he's only lost on-screen once to Ohma about halfway through ''Ashura'', making fans desperate to want to see him get his comeuppance. [[spoiler:Him killing off Alan Wu, who is popular due to his character design, as well as Edward Wu, who is extremely popular due to his EvilIsCool factor, has made the fandom loathe him even more.]] This has led to fans derogatorily calling him "Sandrovich's Little Princess" and other variations of that name due to his obvious PlotArmor and constant victories, as well as him having an increased amount of screen-time in Omega in spite of his unpopularity. Pretty much the only people you can find who like him are powerscalers and fangirls (and fanboys) who like him due to finding him attractive.

* ''Manga/ASilentVoice'':
** Ueno gets a lot of this, such as [[spoiler:on the Ferris wheel she tries to shift blame from herself to Shoko for Shoko's bullying and Shoya's loss of friends and current state, then responds to Shoko saying she hates herself with a slap and a flippant "so what". Then there’s the bit after Shoko almost committed suicide where Ueno attacks Shoko (who’s got a broken arm) again blaming her for Shoya’s coma which put Ueno into complete HateSink level for many fans]]. She is RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap for a good deal of fans in later chapters of the manga though, after her FreudianExcuse is fully explained and she finally accepts defeat. Though other readers still think Ueno got off too lightly for her actions.
** Shoko's mother gets some flak for not letting Shoko use sign language in front of her and seems to have no interest in wanting to learn it so she can communicate with her. Many people say she's a bit too authoritarian for her own good. She gets better after some [[DefrostingIceQueen defrosting]] and [[spoiler: even RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap for many after chapter 44, where she apologizes to Shoya's mother for Shoko causing Shoya's accident and slapping Ueno for hurting her daughter.]]
** With her [[NeverMyFault inability accept any kind of responsibility]] regarding Shoko's bullying, [[EvilCannotComprehendGood not understanding why she should feel remorse nor why the others do]], her hypocritical attitude towards Shoya, and using CrocodileTears to make herself look innocent, it's very easy to hate Kawai. [[spoiler:Even more so after she blows her conversation with Shoya out of proportion and lets everyone know that he bullied Shoko in the past, especially [[BullyHunter Mashiba]], pulling the same exact stunt she did in the past and, in general, making everything far worse than it should be without getting any comeuppance other than a well-deserved TakeThatScrappy from Shoya.]]
*** [[spoiler:Given the revelations from chapter 45 to chapter 48, Ueno comes as slightly more sympathetic, given that she admits that she's aware of her personality issues; that she's a ClingyJealousGirl and has a crush on Ishida, hence why she dislikes Shoko; and that she just doesn't know how to handle it. Compare with Kawai who is still in denial about her involvement in Shoko's bullying and manages to make Ishida's accident and Shoko's suffering be all about her. The fact that chapter 48's climax sets up a confrontation between Kawai and Ueno, the fandom was actually cheering for Ueno because Kawai comes across as the bigger HateSink due to her near-pathological ItsAllAboutMe[=/=]NeverMyFault attitude.]]

* ''Anime/SchoolLive'':
** Yuuri in the second arc got flak for her [[spoiler:deepening delusions about Ruu. Unlike Yuki, whose condition makes her more sympathetic and endearing, Yuuri's delusions make her outright unstable and unlikable. It doesn't help that she still believes that Ruu is still alive even after seeing Ayaka "Kill" her (In reality she just stepped on the head of the teddy bear that Yuuri thinks is Ruu).]] And Chapter 49 makes her even ''worse'', [[spoiler:as she's more concerned about a teddy bear than ''her actual living friends'', to where she has to be reminded that Kurumi is still missing]]. By the time the final arc rolls around though, [[spoiler:she's slowly starting to [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap grow out of this]]]].
** Takahito isn't very well-liked either. While he is suppose to be a {{Hate Sink}}, some of the hate he gets goes beyond that, with criticism towards him being that he's a dull and uninteresting character who [[SpotlightStealingSquad nonetheless takes page time from better characters]]. His {{Wangst}} backstory, [[TooDumbToLive sheer stupidity]] and [[spoiler:how pathetically he's ultimately killed]] doesn't earn him any fans either.

* ''Manga/3×3Eyes'': Haan. He spends most of the series feeling out of place (being TheRival of Yakumo, an uncommonly uncompetitive and cool headed hero for a shonen manga), and once he finally finds his place he is already dead. From then on, we are treated to his clone, his corpse, and the CloneAngst that follow.

* ''Anime/BlueCometSPTLayzner'': Arthur, who has clearly mistaken abject stupidity for comic relief. He becomes ''slightly'' more bearable in the 1999 arc, if only because, as a now-chubby member of the elite who ineffectually tries to collaborate with his friends in LaResistance, he's in the show much less.

* ''Anime/GakuenBabysitters'': A large number of people find Yagi's behaviour towards the children off-putting, especially anime-only viewers (the manga at least attempts to explain why he genuinely likes children but still does a poor job at justifying the creepy pedo jokes the author's fond of).

No, Japanese fans don't like Mineta either.

* There’s a sizable number of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' fans who don’t like Mineta at all because of his pervert tendencies and often over-inflated ego.

* There’s ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'': Mineta Minoru gets a sizable number lot of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' hate. Many see him as a FlatCharacter, existing only for pervert jokes that have been done to death in other shonen manga, without any other personality traits or characteristics to build on. Some viewers go so far as to accuse Mineta of being a serious sexual predator, for reasons including invoking JailBaitWait on ''a traumatized six-year-old girl''. Even fans who don’t like Mineta at all because of his don't mind the pervert tendencies jokes get frustrated that Mineta's so completely one-note about it, never showing any other personality traits besides being a pervert. His quirk (generating adhesive spheres from his hair) and often over-inflated ego.design (a [[NonStandardCharacterDesign cartoonish midget]] whose choice of costume has some kind of metal diaper) are seen as lame and fairly ugly. Possible redeeming characteristics such as his high intelligence remain {{Informed Attribute}}s in favor of his more unpleasant sides. The fact that Mineta was chosen for the Heroes' Course above Shinso, a far more popular character, doesn't help. Mineta tends to be at or near the bottom in popularity polls for ''My Hero Academia'', and stories where Mineta gets expelled or replaced by Shinso are so common on Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn that there are [[FandomSpecificPlot dedicated tags for both kinds of stories]]. He's practically entered LoveToHate territory for a lot of the fanbase.
