* Sokka from ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' is a prime example. He's been smashed, splashed, slammed, tripped, bonked, nearly killed by his own master (this may not have been as bad as he thought), slapped, kicked, punched, jumped & tied-up (by his future girlfriend, no less), squished, gotten drunk/high on cactus juice, thwacked, and buried alive, just to begin the list, and all for our sadistic amusement. And that's only the show proper -- the shorts involve Sokka being mangled in ways that would make Wile E. Coyote cringe. Though one may expect him to be TheWoobie, and to a minor degree he is in some circles, the fact that he's shown to be able to [[IronButtMonkey take more physical damage]] than any other character in the series, combined with his cocky attitude and general c'est-la-vi demeanor, make for more hilarity than tragedy.
** He even lampshades it in the season 3 opening episode:

* The Creator/{{MGM}} cartoon character ''WesternAnimation/BarneyBear'' went through this in almost every short he starred in--the outcome of his adventures ''never'' end positively for him. This is especially bad in "Barney's Hungry Cousin", where he's hauled off to jail by his own cousin after being framed by him for trying to feed him in a no-feeding area (by his cousin putting the sign there to begin with, after pestering Barney for his food the whole short, prompting Barney to offer the sandwich in defeat). His cousin doesn't even give Barney the pleasure of [[YankTheDogsChain eating his stashed lollipop as he's dragged off]]!

* Principal [=McVicker=], Stewart Stevenson and sometimes Van Driessen and Beavis from ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead''.
* An in-universe version happens with Chip Whistler in ''WesternAnimation/BigCityGreens''. By "Chipwrecked", Cricket has stopped taking Chip seriously and begins seeing him as an always-failing joke. He mocks him over his always failing schemes to run the Greens out of town, to the point of getting his tooth chipped in return. When his plot begins to flaw right before him, all Cricket does is just stare at Chip smirking, and keeps the chip of his titanium tooth for his collection. [[TheDogBitesBack It all suddenly turns against him]] when Chip seizes control of Big Coffee and plots the destruction of the Greens' house, even mocking Cricket right back over the way he treated him.
* XR from ''WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand'' was - inside the {{canon}} - created to be destroyed. Usually by exploding. In fact, other characters have a tendency to think the 'X' stands for 'eXpendable'.[[note]]Possibly because it ''actually does''.[[/note]]
* ''WesternAnimation/CallingCat22'', a series of 90-second shorts dealing with the eponymous secret agent being sent undercover to figure out the many and various weird and disgusting habits of dogs. No matter how much he tries to avoid danger, or even the assignments themselves, every event surrounding his missions seems to end in his getting injured somehow. The last short - about burying bones, oddly enough - does indeed [[ThrowTheDogABone throw him a bone]] at the end.
* Cat from ''WesternAnimation/CatDog'' has it tough. He and Dog get made fun of and beaten up by almost everyone in Nearburg, and Dog keeps harming him accidentally, through sheer obliviousness.
* Jay Sherman of ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'' has had his fair share of troubles.

* The titular hero of ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck'' is accident-prone, to say the least. Not that it ever stops him.

* Every character in ''WesternAnimation/DrawnTogether'' [[SadistShow falls under this category]] at one point or another. Xandir especially is Captain Hero's favorite Chew Toy.

* General Skarr in ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne'' suffered this role every time he tried to formulate his own plans to take over the world behind Con Carne's back, or simply followed Con Carne's orders. It always led to no end of suffering for him. When he finally quit after being fed up with his dumbbell dictator, he migrated over to ''The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy''... and, you guessed it- [[FromBadToWorse his luck got worse...]] MUCH worse.
* Binky on ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents''. Every appearance has something bad happening to him

* Hunter from ''WesternAnimation/FatherOfThePride''.

* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'', Fry was initially cast as a FishOutOfTemporalWater unfamiliar with all the strange and [[EverythingTryingToKillYou very dangerous]] things his new-found friends had grown up with. As the series progressed, this was [[SerialEscalation gradually turned up to eleven]] as the show decided to [[CosmicPlaything throw every possible outlandish scenario directly into his face]]. He's also a case of someone who can encompass both this trope ''and'' TheWoobie, as his fellow employees' berating of the [[TheFool aloofness]], [[TheDitz ignorance]] and [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} absent-mindedness]] that continually harm his friendships and self-esteem—all of which he sometimes does his best to overcome—garners a lot of [[ThisLoserIsYou viewer sympathy]].

* Pete, from ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'' falls victim to painful accidents or embarrassing situations about every five minutes, often caused accidentally by WesternAnimation/{{Goofy}}. This is the standard structure for almost all of [[RotatingProtagonist his focus episodes]], mainly as retribution for being a {{Jerkass}} in other characters' focus episodes.
* In the Super Chicken segments of ''WesternAnimation/GeorgeOfTheJungle'', the hero's poor assistant Fred is pulled through the wringer in ''every episode'', although, as he's constantly reminded, [[CatchPhrase he knew the job was dangerous when he took it.]]
* The N.I.G.E.L. unit in ''WesternAnimation/GodzillaTheSeries'', destroyed ''at least'' once an episode, to its creator's dismay.

** Grim often gets the very worst of it, given his luck from episode one, where he loses a bet to two children and is stuck their best friend forever- after Mandy pulled a dirty trick on him. From there, he's doomed to be a DesignatedVictim over and over, getting smashed apart, beaten, set on fire. Finally, it hits HumiliationConga territory in the later seasons--most evident when he's given a thorough pummeling by [[CorruptCorporateExecutive underworld executives]] with flails and bats, incinerated until he's completely charred black, extinguished, and drenched with every executive's cup of hot coffee.

* Eugene from ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold''.

* The incredibly minor, infrequently recurring character Invader Skooge from ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'' is absolutely nothing '''but''' a chew toy. In his few appearances, he was assigned to the planet of the slaughtering rat people; shot out of an orbital cannon; and in an episode designed to showcase Zim being a {{Jerkass}}, he was pushed into a canyon, attacked by the Meat-Thirsty Hogulus, landed on by a drill sergeant and wedged in his rear, then used as a weapon to bludgeon the aforementioned Hogulus.

* ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes'' is full of {{Buttmonkey}}s, but the biggest of them all is Lucius' toady, Samy Garvin, whose sole purpose is to receive the worst torment from the hands of Lucius (and sometimes other characters) the writers can imagine up.
* The title character from ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo'' suffers several humiliating and AmusingInjuries. Among other things, he gets smashed into several small pieces, crushed by a fat man, attacked by a cat, stomped on by elephants, run over by stampeding buffalo, mauled to death by a tiger, electrocuted, blown up, beaten up by a rhino, launched into outer space, flattened by a giant hammer, pinched by a crab and struck by lightning. He gets bitten by a clown and has his butt set on fire, and is attacked by several women that he tries to flirt with.
* Alexandra Cabot from ''WesternAnimation/JosieAndThePussyCats''. At least OncePerEpisode something awful happens to her, like her failing to get Alan's attention, trying to upstage Josie but failing in various humiliating ways, getting stuck in a log, having a bucket of glue stuck on her head, getting attacked by a tiger and falling down an elevator shaft.

* Po from ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPanda''. An interesting case because he's the ''lead'' character. Partially justified in that he lives in a place which is not at all designed for his size, but there are times when it's pure RuleOfFunny.

* Bessie Higgenbottom from ''WesternAnimation/TheMightyB''. You would be this too if you attended an [[SuckySchool all bully school]].

* Mr. Bump and Little Miss Calamity from ''WesternAnimation/TheMrMenShow''. Since it's a sketch comedy show, almost all the characters experience this from time to time, but these two have their characters entirely built around being the chew toy.

* Mort on ''WesternAnimation/ThePenguinsOfMadagascar'' - a bit of a [[{{WesternAnimation/Futurama}} Zoidberg-esque example]], as he happily accepts the role of TheChewToy since it means he gets ''noticed.''

* In ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'', both Candace and Doofenshmirtz frequently find themselves under this trope.

* Hack and Slash of ''WesternAnimation/{{ReBoot}}'', who were smashed in nearly every episode they appeared in. It's only done for [[PlayedForDrama drama]] in the third season, but afterward it's right back to [[PlayedForLaughs laughs]] with these guys. You could say they were Creator/MainframeEntertainment's prototypes for [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars Waspinator]].
* Rigby in ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' is frequently beaten up by everyone.
* Nothing ever seems to go right for Mr. Ed Bighead on ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife''. But, he usually deserves it for his Jerkass behavior. But even when he's NOT being a jerkass, like in the golf episode, he'll still get blamed for something that wasn't his fault and get horribly injured by it.

* Shaggy from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooWhereAreYou''. In addition to generally acting as bait along with Scooby (despite their terror), he routinely has his food stolen from him by the latter. It's no wonder Shaggy is hungry - he rarely seems to manage to eat anything at all.

** Let’s not forget Scratchy the Cat from ''JustForFun/TheItchyAndScratchyShow''.
* [[TheyKilledKennyAgain Kenny]] from ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark''. He has been injured, beheaded, burned, shot, run over... hundreds of times.

** Also, Nathan in "Crippled Summer". He was raped by a shark, attacked by Tardicaca Indians, bitten by a black mamba, blown up, and had all of the above happen to him again all at once.

* [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter Fuzzy Snuggums]] from ''WesternAnimation/{{Spliced}}'' seems to exist solely for the sake of getting beaten up by scenery and/or the other characters.
* [[BigBad Plankton]], [[ExcitedKidsShowHost Patchy]], [[JerkassWoobie Squidward]], Mrs. Puff, and Gary from ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants''.

* Plucky Duck of ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'', as the SpiritualSuccessor to Daffy, is also a victim to this, especially around Buster and Babs Bunny, whenever he gets [[AnvilOnHead crushed by an anvil]], shot out of a cannon, [[RunningGag crushed by an anvil]], beaten up over treasure, [[RuleOfThree crushed by an anvil]], flattened by a monster, lost the money he made in a boxing match, and lost an award to another monster.
* Tom from ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry'' is much the same way, and in an even more agonizing fashion: A large number of episodes have Tom chasing Jerry strictly so that Jerry will not mess up the house he's living in, thus resulting in not only Tom not getting dinner, but being beaten with whatever is handy by his owner.

** If Tyler is competing, expect him to be hurt the worst out of all the contestants. Heck, he couldn't even debut without getting hurt.

* Kitty Katswell from ''WesternAnimation/TUFFPuppy'', despite being a [[HypercompetentSidekick competent agent]], is subjected to ''a lot'' of AmusingInjuries. Of course, most of the injuries she suffers are usually [[LethallyStupid Dudley's fault]].

Turns out ever since Dexter bought ice cream from him, and paid him in ''pennies'', a series of unfortunate events had happened to him since, including chipping his tooth while trying to put them in the safe due to tripping on his laces after counting them, dumped by his girlfriend, having his car towed away, getting kicked out of his apartment and being forced to live under a highway because of this one act.
** And to add insult to injury, once the Ice Cream Man forgives Dexter and allows him to purchase ice cream, Dexter pays the Ice Cream Man with a 100 dollar bill.

* ''WebAnimation/HappyTreeFriends''. [[SadistShow EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER.]] Except Splendid ([[spoiler: so far he's only died once]]), Cro-Marmot (with his ice block acting as a shield), and Buddhist Monkey (who never even died yet).
** Though in [[AxCrazy Fliqpy]] and (to a lesser extent) [[JerkassBall Lumpy]]'s case, [[AssholeVictim they might deserve it]] to the eyes of some fans (however, Flippy is adored by the fanbase, so you would be hard-pressed to find someone who hates him).
