* The scenes of stock footage centered around Nazi Germany juxtaposed with animated fantasy battles should be NightmareRetardant on paper, but in execution they give off a very sobering contrast between the common tropes of fantasy authors and a very, ''very'' dark chapter in real world history.

* In their final "battle", you get the sense that, despite the clear bad blood each of them had for each other, Blackwolf and Avatar hinted that they still loved each other in some way. Blackwolf says himself that he doesn't need to kill his brother, and offers him a chance to surrender. Avatar, after shooting his brother dead, only solemnly throws his gun away after he has no further use for it, sure the world was at stake and Blackwolf needed to be killed, but they were still brothers, and the only family they had was each other.

* The birth of both Avatar and Blackwolf left their mother a wizened, bedridden husk. When she died after many, many years, Avatar struggled in vain to revive her - all he could do was cradle her and weep.
* The first use of Blackwolf's magically-powered projector. Elves are already dug in and expecting another decisive victory against his forces, only to have the ''entire sky'' replaced with horrific imagery of Nazi propaganda and wartime footage. Leaving the elves both utterly shellshocked and completely ''defenseless'' against Blackwolf's armies.
