** Even more so in the anime, where the scene is '''brilliantly''' paced and set. First, we have Shunrei praying for Shiryu's sake in Rozan, focusing on sending her best wishes to him; her kind words [[ThePowerOfLove ''actually reach Shiryu'', who's about to lose ''everything'' in the fight.]] Then Deathmask starts using his PsychicPowers, locates Shunrei (who is [[NeutralFemale totally defenseless]]), and [[{{Flight}} begins lifting her up in the air]] ''several'' meters above the Rozan cascade, giving a truly chilling EvilLaugh as poor Shunrei struggles and Shiryu screams at him to stop. And it's ''even worse'' because of both the [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments really cute flashback at the start of the episode, where we find out their shared backstory]] ''and'' for the massive, [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome awesome, and heartbreaking scene that follows]], one where [[BewareTheQuietOnes the always kind, honorable and quiet]] [[ScreamingWarrior Shiryu]] ''[[UnstoppableRage TOTALLY LOSES HIS SHIT]]'' and launches the mother of [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge Roaring Rampages Of Revenge]] against Deathmask]]. * Shiryu's death, whereas he uses the forbidden Rozan Proud Dragon Lord on Shura, because he too will die along with him. As he and Shura ascend into the sky everyone realizes it's Shiryu who is leaving them. Seiya and the squad start weeping and Shun tearfully cries out Shiryu's name. Then the scene goes the Ancient Peaks where Shunrei desperately asks Roshi if the comet in the sky is really Shiryu, with his silence confirming it. Upon hearing this she falls on her knees and starts sobbing and then to add more pain to it, we finally see that even the stoic Roshi too, is crying heavily for the loss of his student who he also sees as his own son.

* '''[[BigNo NOOOOOO!]]''' '''[[SayMyName MASTER!]]''' '''[[PleaseDontLeaveMe DON'T LEAVE ME]]!'''. Oh, [[spoiler: Hyoga]]...
Hyoga...
* Cancer Deathmask's attack on [[spoiler: Shiryu's PatientChildhoodLoveInterest Shunrei]] Shunrei during his fight against Shiryu. Now, THAT was merciless!
** Even more so in the anime, where the scene is '''brilliantly''' paced and set. First, [[spoiler: we have Shunrei praying for Shiryu's sake in Rozan, focusing on sending her best wishes to him; her kind words ''[[ThePowerOfLove actually reach Shiryu]]'', Shiryu'', who's about to lose ''everything'' in the fight.]] Then [[spoiler: Deathmask starts using his PsychicPowers, locates Shunrei (who is [[NeutralFemale totally defenseless]]), defenseless), and [[{{Flight}} begins lifting her up in the air]] ''several'' meters above the Rozan cascade, giving a truly chilling EvilLaugh as poor Shunrei struggles and Shiryu screams at him to stop. Then the ([[HellIsThatNoise really creepy]]) BackgroundMusic ''completely stops''... and Shunrei lets out a cry as [[DeathByFallingOver she plummets to what's surely her death]], with Shiryu '''screaming''' in horror [[ForcedToWatch as Deathmask forces him to see]] how he kills his [[ChildhoodFriendRomance adoptive sister/prospect girlfriend]], and he can't do anything about it.]] And it's ''even worse'' because of both the [[spoiler: [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments really cute flashback]] flashback at the start of the episode, where we find out their shared backstory]] ''and'' for the [[spoiler: massive, [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome awesome]], awesome, and heartbreaking scene that follows, one where [[BewareTheQuietOnes the always kind, honorable and quiet]] [[ScreamingWarrior Shiryu]] ''[[UnstoppableRage TOTALLY LOSES HIS SHIT]]'' and launches the mother of [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge Roaring Rampages Of Revenge]] against Deathmask]]. Kudos to the anime team for giving us this heartbreaking and beautifully done scene.
** Moreover, in the anime Shiryu [[spoiler: regains his sight after literally sending Deathmask to hell. And he's in tears because Shunrei died for it.]] Which is followed by [[spoiler: a tear jerker [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments of a happier kind]] kind when we find out that [[BigDamnHeroes thanks to Dohko]], poor Shunrei's actually alive and kicking.]]

** [[spoiler: Though it's subverted because [[BatmanGambit Ikki actually had planned to get his senses taken away from Shaka in order to awaken his seventh sense,]] but still his reactions were definitely genuine.]]
** Also the scene afterwards where Ikki sacrifices himself in order to take out Shaka. All the Bronze Saints have woken up and see that Ikki is prepared to die for them. With Shun crying and begging him not to go and Ikki can only give a few words of encouragement to him before he and Shaka finally are taken out by the explosion of Ikki's cosmo only leaving behind the Virgo cloth and Shun, heartbroken, staring back at its reflection.
** Turned into a more heartwarming scene afterwards as Shun gets over it and understands the sacrifice Ikki made for them and moves forward with this head up while remembering Ikki in their memories.
* Lots of people decry the Asgard Saga as pure {{wangst}}y {{Filler}}, but it has many genuinely good tear jerkers. [[spoiler: Thor's backstory and his first encounter with Princess Hilda, as well as his last words when he aknowledges his loss and begs Seiya to help the BrainwashedAndCrazy Hilda return to her senses. Fenrir's backstory as a whole; Freya attempting to make Hagen pull a HeelFaceTurn and ''failing'' as well as her reaction to his death (even ''Hyoga'' cries); Volker's SuicideByCop at the hands of Mime ''and'' Mime's reaction when he finds out the truth about him; Sid and Bud's CainAndAbel backstory as well as Sid telling Bud that he ''always'' knew they were SeparatedAtBirth and ''always'' loved him, ultimately to die together frozen in an embrace when they abandon the palace; Siegfried's HeroicSacrifice for his beloved Hilda from the Bronze Saints and Poseidon's Siren Sorrento, Seiya's HeroicBSOD when he thinks he killed her, Hilda recalling her MindRape at the hands of the Nibelung Ring as she invokes Odin's power...]]
* [[spoiler:Shiryu's death,]] whereas he uses the forbidden Rozan Koryuha on Shura, because he too will die along with him.
