** [[spoiler: To make this more somber, despite being rightfully upset at Adrien for his abandonment and worried about Chat Noir potentially getting akumatized, Marinette never meant to be so uncaring towards him; She was just so caught up with healing from Lila, dealing with her trauma from the Chat Blanc incident and juggling her triple life as Ladybug and Chance, she failed to notice how badly her new friends were treating him supposedly for 'her sake' or how much he was hurting. And the only time she really did start to think Adrien could be a bad person was when she found out Gabriel was Hawkmoth, worrying that everything he did was just an act until she was snapped back to her senses and Adrien ends up proving her wrong by standing up to his father later on. In the end, Marinette is left with the bitter knowledge that what happened was largely her fault as she had allowed her trauma get the better of her and for failing to notice just how badly Adrien was suffering.]]

* Marrinette's reason for shutting out Chat Noir is just sad. While at first her declarations that she still trusts Chat despite how he is being treated seems like she is lying to herself, come chapter 117[[spoiler: ''she was telling the truth.'' Unlike everyone else who simply did not trust and did not like Chat, her only reason for [[LockedOutoftheLoop keeping secrets from him]] is the trauma she still has from Chat Blanc. While this seems heartwarming at first since she never had negative feelings for her partner, this means that she nearly irreparably damaged her relationship with Chat out of paranoia and trauma. This all makes the rest of the group's treatment of him somehow ''worse'', as their bullying him out of the group is something she didn't even want, as the whole time she genuinely saw Chat as her partner.]]

* To make the above even worse [[spoiler: Adrien finally joining the Theivies is somehow even worse. After following all the other heroes out of concern for their safety despite them pushing him out of the group, he ends up in the Metaverse and is utterly confused. After using a cataclysm to get past a door he runs into the others who he is now unable to recognize due to being in theif attire. They refuse to lower their weapons on him because they still don't trust him, and only Marrinete shows him any concern at all. His transformation runs out and then finds out his Father his Hawk Moth, before Shadow Gabriel nearly has him killed, only prevented by him awakening his Persona. Even then, when getting out of the Metaverse he finds out that his friends knew his Father was Hawk Moth and had no intentions of telling him, causing him to pass out from a panic attack. This ''finally'' gets all the Theivies to realize they were completely too harsh on Adrien, but just like Adrien's realization earlier in the story, it is far too late. When he wakes up he angrily tears into all of them and he makes it clear he is just done with all of them. The Hourglass Plot has finally come full circle, and it is just as depressing.]]

** [[spoiler: What's worse, despite his failures with Lila and how the others treated him, Adrien continued to try to care for everyone, deeply regretting how horribly he had screwed up with Marinette and refusing to let anyone get hurt, showing his true character. The Thieves, however, wrote him off as spoiled rich kid that abandoned Marinette for his selfish desires and that he can't be trusted, resulting in them essentially ''bullying'' him off the team and leaving him at Gabriel's mercy despite knowing he was Hawk Moth and had killed Audrey, while Adrien at least had the excuse of not knowing of Lila's murderous nature. In short, the Thieves ended up becoming ''worse'' than Adrien ever was, with Akira painfully realizing this at the start of chapter 117 while reflecting on what happened.]]

* Just everything about [[BrokenAce Adrien]]: Despite everything he’s done, he’s genuinely a good person. All of his [[FatalFlaw negative traits]] are traced back to [[AbusiveParents Gabriel]]’s treatment of him: as said treatment has left him starved for [[IJustWantToHaveFriends companion]][[IJustWantToBeLoved ship]], [[DudeWheresMyRespect respect]], and with a very naive viewpoint of the world. Those two things only serve to get him into trouble; His [[EtTuBrute refusal]] to help Marinette has [[WeUsedToBeFriends alienated both her and Nino]]. When he tries to coax Ladybug into trusting him more, something happens that causes him to lash out, driving her away even further. Worst of all, people are looking at him as an ExtremeDoormat, which not only they look down on but some of them even [[UnwittingPawn take advantage of it]]. And people are looking at him as an ExtremeDoormat, which not only they look down on, some of them even [[UnwittingPawn take advantage of it]]. [[spoiler: And since the Thieves are planning on going after Hawkmoth/his father, things are going to get worse for him.]]

Page * Each of the Parisian Phantom Thieves have at least one major moment that defines them as needing a hug as their Tokyo counterparts.
** Marinette's entire situation at the beginning of the fic. Thanks to [[ConsummateLiar Lila's manipulations]] and [[ApatheticTeacher Bustier's refusal to step in]], she's become [[BrokenBird a social pariah]] in her class, with even her childhood friends believing Lila and [[ExtremeDoormat Adrien,]] who actually knows the truth, [[EtTuBrute not stepping in whenever Lila gets too out of hand]]. [[spoiler:[[DrivenToSuicide She almost actually KILLED HERSELF]] over it]], [[HappilyFailedSuicide only to be saved by Luka,]] [[RescueRomance whom she started dating]]. The only people Marinette can fully trust at the beginning of the fic are [[FriendlyRival her former rival Kagami]] and [[LoveInterest her boyfriend Luka]]. The Phantom Thieves, [[BirdsOfAFeather able to relate to the feeling of isolation]], befriend her almost immediately after they meet her proper.
** It turns out Luka was, sometime between Season 3 and the start of this story, kicked out of Kitty Section
for TearJerkerbeing "too old for the band". Not that he holds it against his sister, but he and his sister do have a bit of a rift after this, with him siding with Marinette over Juleka siding with Lila [[spoiler:[[NeverBeHurtAgain out of fear of losing her hard-earned friendships for taking Marinette's side]]]]. It's only after [[spoiler:Juleka gains a Persona herself]] that they seem in-sync for the first time in ages.
** Nino finds out his ChildhoodFriend Marinette is actually [[DrivenToSuicide marked for death]] by [[BitchInSheepsClothing Lila]] in one of the most disturbing ways possible. [[BrokenPedestal His own girlfriend, Alya,]] was Lila's Cognitive executioner, practically jumping at the call. And in the real world, he eventually breaks up with her, something that Lila jumps on to blackmail him with.
** [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther As annoyed as she is at]] [[ConspiracyTheorist Jalil antics,]] Alix reveals she was traumatized by the Pharaoh incident, and [[AdultFear she also has to witness her Akumatized father try to]] [[OffingTheOffspring kill his own son]] [[OffingTheAnnoyance for pestering him too much about his theories]], this time about [[WhamLine cognitive psience.]] If she and the Phantom Thieves are not careful, [[spoiler:[[FridgeHorror Jalil could become]] [[HeKnowsTooMuch Black Mask's next target....]]]]
** Kagami was nearly taken out of school to go back to Japan after the second Mass Akuma Attack, and was desperate enough to put her own mother on the Parisian Phan-Site.
** Kim has had a long MyGodWhatHaveIDone with how he and everyone else treated Marinette over Lila, and seems desperate to make it up to her, going on runs where the two don't even talk.
** Nathaniel, when he accidentally stumbles into Bustier's Palace, finds himself about to be killed by her Shadow minions, and believes he is about to meet his MissingMom when he dies... [[spoiler:[[LukeIAmYourFather only to find out that Bustier is his mom,]] [[ParentalAbandonment who walked out on him and his father ashamed of the relationship]].]]
** While not a Parisian, [[spoiler:[[AdaptationalBadass Shiho]]]] has become a DeathSeeker as a result of what happened to [[spoiler:her]], so much so that [[spoiler:her Shadow]] actually creates a brief Palace!
** [[spoiler:Juleka]], atop of [[spoiler:her]] own MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment, [[spoiler:[[AdultFear was stalked and nearly kidnapped and put into a human traffiking ring, nearly sent to Germany]]]]. [[spoiler:Juleka]] breaks down in tears after being rescued, commenting how [[spoiler:she]] "nearly never got to apologize" to Marinette, and ends up skipping three days of school. Once [[spoiler:she]] finds out Marinette and company are Phantom Thieves, [[spoiler:she]] considers [[spoiler:herself]] [[PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou worthy of having]] [[spoiler:[[PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou her]]]] [[PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou heart stolen for not stepping in for Marinette.]]
