Ha-jin tries to help them escape, but Yeon-hwa figures out where they're hiding and sells them out to Wang Yo. Soon-deok dies [[TakingTheBullet trying to save Wang Eun]], while Wang Yo shoots Wang Eun and fatally injures him. Wang Eun begs Wang So to kill him, and as he dies he reaches for Soon-deok's hand but she's too far away for him to reach.

She's arrested and tortured, and the only way Lady Oh can save her is by [[HeroicSacrifice confessing she's responsible and being executed in Ha-jin's place]]. When she's released from prison Ha-jin kneels in front of the palace for hours, trying desperately to make the king spare Lady Oh, but it's all in vain.
