Here, she's exposed because she got into a fight with Boscha while defending Willow from her that resulted in the triclops stealing her headband and revealing her ears. Luz has a panic attack and trying to take her headband back plus accidentally shoving Amity to the floor causes the teachers and students to start beating and scratching her until Principal Bump arrives: by this point, Luz is so shaken up she runs off in tears.
** Then there's the fact that even though Amity knew Luz didn't mean to hurt her, she still did nothing to defend her all because she didn't wanna risk her reputation, not even for her best friend who she grew up with. Willow had every right to glare at her with disapproval.
