* Jess's girlfriend Sarah and his father Byron going to Canada to tell Tali to inform her of her father's death. It means Tali is now an orphan.

* The sudden brutal death of Jess. He goes out a hero, shielding a battered woman from her abusive boyfriend who starts shooting, but it's a devastating death, for the audience and for Jess's team. Jess is last seen bleeding from a neck wound. He is the first main character from any of the three shows to die.

* The disintegration of Sheryll and Charlotte's marriage. It is strained due to both of their jobs's significant workloads but it's still a shock when Charlotte admits she has developed feelings for someone else and later asks Sheryll for a divorce. Even after Sheryll is shot and Charlotte brings their daughter to visit her in hospital and the estranged couple hold hands, Sheryll reveals in the next episode that they are still divorcing, though they want to make everything amicable with their lawyers before seeing a judge.
