** Stats take fifty times your desired level and all previous levels in Points of Proficiency. So upgrading something from 1 (and you can't have less than 1 in statistics) to 2 is 100 Points. Hoarding any higher numer of Points is simply inefficient and wasteful, so rising your stats beyond 2 (rememer that the scale for Stats is 1-5) is pretty much impossible. More - you can't rise them by more than a single point at a time and you must find an excuse why your character became better in that field, which is progressively harder to do with higher Stats. It's handwaved in the rules that it takes a really long time and lots of training to actually improve your body or mind, hence the price and justification.

Disambiguated

* AnythingThatMoves: As a result of being a DyingRace, elven sexuality descended into having as much procreation and conception as possible. It borders on ExtremeOmnisexual -- when given a choice, they prefer going to bed or raping humans and getting half-elves in the process than not having children at all. Because the aim is to get kids, homosexuality and purely romantic relationships are treated as TooDumbToLive among elves.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Halflings, but to be honest they don't even have to wear them - the soles of their feet tend to be harder than shoes and seem to be immune to cold.

* BoisterousBruiser: Dwarves, but only when you are nice to them. People from Skellige are like this as part of their culture.

* BoundAndGagged: The best way to deal with magic users when you don't have to kill them. Or at least a cost-efficient one, since dvimerite handcuffs cost a fortune. This can badly backfire if the mage in question is good enough to cast spells without gestures or words.

Added DiffLines:

** Light crossbow, which has all the advantages of bowsMainly - it can be shot each turn and crossbowsIt rolls damage from a bigger dice pool than any bow, offering bigger minimum damage and a bigger median of rolls. Thanks to better damage potential, it also doesn't require all the extra effort and MinMaxing bows take to make them truly dangerous, while still getting the obvious benefits if one decides to go for aimed shots and similar, without the disadvantages of either, being the perfect middle ground between both weapon types. It's also the "default" crossbow type in the game, making it easily the most common ranged weapon to encounter, further reinforcing its boring aspect.

Added DiffLines:

* BowsVersusCrossbows: While both weapon types are by default under a catch-all Shooting skill, they still are distinctively different and often very literally at odds with each other.
** Example NPCs that are soldiers, mercenaries and thugs of all sorts, if armed with ranged weapons, will be carrying crossbows (usually the light variant). Meanwhile, elves, dryads and dedicated rangers come with not only bows, but also significantly higher Shooting skill.
** Mechanically speaking, crossbows by default have far better damage output (the strongest bow is 2d6+1, the weakest crossbow is 3d6), but a shorter range (roughly 2/3 of that of corresponding bow types). The main distinction comes from the fact that any heavier crossbow than the light variant (3d6 damage) takes a turn to reload. The actual damage output is still, however, comparable with bows and lighter crossbows, as even with the turn "wasted" on reloading, they just deal so much more raw damage thanks to the bell curve spread of their damage rolls and the fact they can't deal less damage than the average outcome of bows.

Added DiffLines:

* OfficialGameVariant: By a trainload. The game is notorious for offering alternative rules and approaches to situations, always using a characteristic, scroll-like frame for those. They range from a simple flavour to completely reworking how certain aspects of the game operate. If that wasn't enough, it considers certain parts of regular mechanics to be purely optional, offering players to pick the level of granuality of the ruleset that's best suited for them.

* EvilPaysBetter: The most profitable disadvantages - those giving the most Stat Points and those not crippling a character - require the player to pick some criminal or outright psychopatic background. It starts with having a HairTriggerTemper, advances through things like RevengeBeforeReason or going into an UnstoppableRage whenever someone wrongs your character, and ends with being a wanted outlaw chased in the whole country or having the urge to kill everything around you after drawing blood.
