''Kismet'' is marketed as "The Modern Game of Yacht". As in the original ''Yacht'' and the earlier ''TabletopGame/{{Yahtzee}}'', players roll five UsefulNotes/{{dice}}, and may try to improve their current score by rerolling any number of dice up to two times. Points are awarded for rolling matching numbers, or for various combinations similar to poker hands. The highest value combination is a "Kismet", which is all 5 dice with the same number. The major distinction between ''Kismet'' and the earlier games is the use of colored dice (black 1 & 6, red 2 & 5, and green 3 & 4) and the inclusion of color-based scoring combinations like a flush (all dice showing the same color).

!! This game provides examples of:
* ExtraTurn: After rolling a "Kismet", rolling another "Kismet" causes all other players to take a zero in the top-most open category on their scoresheets. Opponents thus losing a turn, and the player who rolled the "Kismet" then rolls again.
* ForeignLanguageTitle: "Kismet" is the the Turkish word for "fate".
* LuckManipulationMechanic: ''Kismet'' incorporates this as a core game mechanic. Players roll five dice each round, and if they don't like how they come up, they can re-roll some or all of them up to twice in one turn in attempts to get specific dice combinations.
