* OnlySaneMan: Zoey, as part of her {{TeamMom}} status. Chase constantly falls into this, something that is obviously not very difficult when your competition is Logan and Michael. Throughout the first season 1st season, Dana proved to have elements of this as well.

The show began with Zoey and her roommates [[GenkiGirl Nicole Bristow]] (Alexa Nikolas) and [[SpicyLatina Dana Cruz]] (Kristin Herrera), with Zoey making friends with [[CannotSpitItOut Chase Matthews]] (Sean Flynn) and his roomates, [[TokenBlackFriend Michael Barrett]] (Christopher Massey) and [[SpoiledBrat Logan Reese]] (Matthew Underwood). Zoey was also called upon to look after her younger brother [[TagalongKid Dustin]] (Paul Butcher), with the slightly crazy geek [[HollywoodNerd Quinn Pensky]] (Erin Sanders) always ensuring that HilarityEnsues at PCA.

As time went on multiple characters were replaced, with varying degrees of SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute. Dana left, and was replaced by [[TheFashionista Lola Martinez]] (Music/VictoriaJustice). Later, Nicole left, which allowed Quinn to move in with Lola and Zoey. Finally, Chase ended up leaving for a semester and was briefly replaced by [[FalseLove James Garrett]] (Austin Butler).

* AbsenteeActor: Dustin appears in less than half of the show (25 out of 65 episodes), Chase does not appear in Season 4, outside of it's premiere and finale, James only appears in Season 4, Dana only appears in Season 1, Lola is not introduced until Season 2 and is absent from ''Haunted House'' from that season and ''PCA Confidential'' from Season 3. ''PCA Confidential'' is the only episode that Michael is absent from, Nicole only appears in Seasons 1 and 2, Quinn does not appear in ''Defending Dustin'', ''School Dance'', and ''PCA Confidential'', and finally, Logan didn't appear in "Defending Dustin", ''Quinn's Date'', ''Spring Fling'', ''Backpack'', and ''PCA Confidential''. This makes Zoey the only character to appear in every episode of the show.

* AmateurFilmMakingPlot: In "Jet X", the characters are given the task of creating their own commercials for the Jet X bike to be shown off in class, with the best group winning their own bikes. Chase, Logan and Michael end up with professional equipment and actors thanks to Logan's wealth, while Zoey, Nicole and Dana keep fighting over their ideas and eventually split up. Zoey stays up all night editing whatever footage they were able to get into a unique commercial, winning the contest for her and the other girls.
