** The episode where the Ultras battled Dada has a quick nod to Film/AntManAndTheWasp in the penultimate Ultra-vs-kaiju battle, when a stray bolt from Dada's shrink gun accidentally hits a random civilian's car, just as the car's owner is standing beside his vehicle and about to enter, much to the unfortunate owner's bewilderment. It's worth noting that both instances involves a CreatorCameo - the MCU film have this happening to Stan Lee during his obligatory cameo, while in the episode this happens to Kiyotaka Taguchi, a long-time director of the Ultra series.

* LighterAndSofter: This series explores the theme of family, and even has a lot of comedic moments in the battle against Ultras and monsters.

to:

* KnightOfCerebus:
** Unlike the bumbling LaughablyEvil Aizen/Cereza, Saki Mitsurugi is played very seriously, and if anything, in a tragic and sympathetic light considering that she's actually the younger sister to the two titular Ultras. With the former now out of the picture, things get even more bleak as the Minato siblings find a way to bring their mother back after being TrappedInAnotherWorld for the remainder of the series, and then we learn Saki's DarkAndTroubledPast, which ultimately heralds the appearance of Reugosite.
** Ultraman Tregear in TheMovie. By the time he shows up causing all sorts of mayhem, you know you're in for a Hell. This even extends into the succeeding season where he is the BigBad.
* LighterAndSofter: This Unlike its predecessor, the series explores leans on a more SliceOfLife approach. Even the theme of family, and even has a lot of comedic moments in BigBad from the battle against Ultras and monsters.first half of the series is downright hilarious from the get-go. However, things come to an abrupt change when Saki Mitsurugi shows up...

* DeconReconSwitch: The first half of the series is a deconstruction of the more recent Ultra Series, wherein instead of the main villain aiming for an even more malicious plan by orchestrating monster attacks, Makoto Aizen is portrayed as a HeroicWannabe and a darker take on the AscendedFanboy trope who wants to be an Ultraman because of his childhood dream, with all those monster attacks on the city he orchestrated and antagonism towards Rosso and Blu were all out of what he considered as a popularity contest. [[spoiler:By the time Saki Mitsurugi rolls in, she displays a bigger threat by ousting Makoto and took his place as an even more threatening villain with a rather justified reason to destroy Earth in hopes of defeating an AncientEvil PlanetEater EldritchAbomination and avenge her brothers' deaths. Her arc in the story puts the titular SiblingTeam in a dilemma to defeat Reugosite while saving Earth at the same time.]]
