* SuperWeight:
** Arthur is on the low end of Muggle Weight, though his suit brings him up to Super Weight ([[HowDoIShootWeb once he figures out how to use it, anyway]]).
** The Terror is also Muggle Weight, relying on planning and underlings to punch high above his class.
** Overkill initially seems to be Iron Weight but is eventually revealed to be Abnormal Weight, enjoying slightly enhanced strength, speed and healing.
** [[spoiler: Dot]] is Abnormal Weight, having occasional precognitive flashes of the near future.
** Miss Lint, who can [[PsychoElectro generate and manipulate electricity,]] is Super Weight.
** The Tick is at the high end of Super Weight - he appears to be capable of surviving anything and of breaking down any obstacle in his way, but he usually requires some time to do so.
** Superian is World Weight, at one point seeming convinced that he could ''exterminate all life on Earth'' effectively at will.:

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** As a child, Arthur witnesses the murder of his father and childhood heroes at the hands of The Terror before [[spoiler:the killer [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking eats young Arthur's ice cream]]]]. Arthur has crippling neuroses as an adult, a long history with medications and trouble holding down jobs, and his sister is legally his caretaker.
** Overkill is the only superhero who kills criminals. This warrants a rather cautious reception from other heroes who don't follow his code while the general public considers him an unstable individual.
** While Arthur assists The Tick and Overkill in taking down Ramses, the series never fails to point out that, despite the suit, he's still a regular person with no superhero or fighting experience and spends the bulk of the series trying to figure out how the suit works. So it will take some time before he really [[TookALevelInBadass takes a level in badass]].
** The series shows what happens when a superhero universe doesn't bend to the status quo that your regular superhero universe does. Even though the attack on The Flag Five was decades ago, the city is still reeling from the events of that attack, and The Tick, Overkill, and Arthur's heroic actions have consequences.
** When a hero's secret identity is revealed to the public, a super villain would not hesitate in going after their friends and family the moment the hero is in no position to protect them.
** [[spoiler: Despite being the worlds most powerful superhero and an unaging needless superbeing, decades of fighting The Terror left Superian sick to the point of mental exhaustion of their neverending battle. When it seemed like The Terror was finally killed once and for all he chose to believe he really was dead than entertain the idea he was still alive because Superian just wanted it to be over.]]

* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: Subverted with the AEGIS anthem, which is just "Scotland the Brave" without any changes. Except maybe played worse.

Arthur comes to the conclusion that the Terror is running The City from underground. However, as he tries to blow the lid off the conspiracy, things take a turn for the bizarre when he inadvertently sparks the interest of a big, blue, [[NighInvulnerability nigh-invulnerable]], [[LargeHam shamelessly hammy]] and rather enigmatic superhero who calls himself The Tick (Peter Serafinowicz). But can Arthur and The Tick really save The City from its own seedy underbelly? Or are the two of them (especially Arthur) truly in over their heads?

* CantDefaultToMurder: After The Tick saves Overkill's life, Overkill decides [[IOweYouMyLife his life now belongs to The Tick]], as The Tick being NighInvulnerable means there's no way he can repay him in kind. Tick decides to cash in the debt by ordering Overkill to stop killing people, who is horrified and disgusted but still forced to agree. In a later episode, Dot points out that she too has saved Overkill's life and uses ''that'' life debt to erase the no-kill order.
