* EnthrallingSiren: Det. Hale, a RareMaleExample.

* BisexualLoveTriangle: Bo, a succubus fae, not only has strong feelings for Dyson, a male werewolf Fae, but for Lauren, a female human scientist working with the fae. Initially, Bo tries to keep her distance from Lauren, as she hasn't figured out how to fully control her drain-life-via-sex powers, and "feeds" of Dyson fairly regularly because fae have more life to give, so she can feed without killing him. As the series progresses and Bo learns to control her powers more (and various characters' dark secrets start coming out), the situation develops into a full-blown love triangle, with jealousy, betrayals, suspicion, and angst.

** The image symbolizing The Wanderer is a minimalist version of ''Wanderer above the Sea of Fog'' by Caspar Friedrich with a sunbursts added at the top right.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: For a season and a half, the Wanderer's influence being indicated with Dion's same-named song. When we finally meet the Wanderer, he shuts the song off, saying he's sick of it, and it's never used again.

* NotSoDifferent: Another human uses this on Lauren at one point. He talks about being a human in the Fae world leads to you being hated and ignored, and then a Fae comes along that treats you well and may even love you, and how you'd do anything for them. All of which she can understand. The fact that he's talking about this while viciously beating her makes it a particularly uncomfortable example.

* BettyAndVeronica: Dyson and Lauren. Initially with safe, helpful Lauren as Betty and dangerous, smoldering Dyson as Veronica.[[spoiler:As their motivations are uncovered over the course of the series, things become more blurry]].

This is more or less taken for granted by everybody--in fact, the only person seen commenting on this is Kenzi, who makes it clear that she sees Bo as a sister and not a romantic interest.
** The Morrigan seems to be a case of DepravedBisexual.

** Kitsune-Kenzi takes this UpToEleven, and makes things worse because of it. At one point, she gets jealous of Bo trying to save Lauren, so she ''deliberately puts herself in danger'' to try and get Bo to save her.

* HeroicBSOD: Dyson has one when, while under the doubt-inducing effects of Tamsin's power, he kills the kitsune impersonating Kenzi. Between the kitsune's glamour powers and the inflicted doubt, he's not sure that he didn't kill the real Kenzi and he needs Lauren to confirm it for him. He recovers when she does.

** S3: Lauren refused to listen to Bo [[spoiler:about Kenzi being kidnapped]]. Subverted in that Bo admits it will take a while for everything to be forgiven. Double Subverted in that the next episode, all is forgiven, and she never mentions Lauren's ignorance, [[spoiler:which nearly caused Kenzi to die in captivity]].

** S3: Everyone refuses to listen to Bo about Fake Kenzi, going so far as to place her in lockdown. Subverted in that Bo admits it will take a while for everything to be forgiven. Double Subverted in that the next episode, all is forgiven, and she never mentions anyone's ignorance, causing Kenzi to nearly die in captivity.
** S3: After breaking up, Lauren leaves the Fae, seeming to side with Taft. Of course she used her position to betray Taft. Despite breaking Bo's heart several times, the first time they meet in S4, Bo has forgiven her completely.
** S4: Lauren seemed to reject Bo again, and additionally kept secrets about her plans with the Dark. But after one fight and Lauren getting captured by Massimo, Bo has completely forgiven her.
** S5: Lauren and Bo get back together again in S5, but again Lauren breaks up with her because of their different lifespans. It only takes one conversation at the series finale for them to rekindle their relationship.

* SupernaturallyYoungParent: Aoife looks only slightly older than her daughter [[spoiler:Bo]]. Justified as she is Fae and ages very slowly, if at all. The actress playing her is actually four years ''younger'' than [[spoiler:Creator/AnnaSilk]].

** Averted. Bo is deeply hurt when its revealed Lauren was ordered to sleep with her and ignores her apologies and attempts to explain. The revelation that Trick and Dyson were ''also'' lying to her, seems to be what motivates Bo into forgiving her. Kenzi is seemingly still holding a grudge in Season 2.
** Lauren lied to Bo about her health, causing Trick to put Bo in lockdown in Kenzi Scale, which infuriates Bo. Later, she never mentions Lauren lying to her, or her part in Kenzi nearly dying due to her captivity.
** Lauren breaks up with Bo, then leaves the fae, seeming to side with Taft. She used her position to betray Taft, but still leaves for parts unknown. Despite breaking Bo's heart several times, the first time they meet Bo has forgiven her completely. Lauren then rejects Bo again.

* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: Mermaids appear in "Waves." They have shell bikinis, and are given legs to walk the Earth for one year before deciding how to live (Lauren compares it to the Amish Rumspringa). They're also nothing like their [[Disney/TheLittleMermaid Disney]] counterparts, and are instead the "psycho bitches of the sea."

** The episode "Waves" provides numerous references to two Disney movies: all that Kenzi knows about mermaids seem to come from Disney/TheLittleMermaid, whilst Bo and Rayner's relationship shown in flashback is basically a WholePlotReference to Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast.

''Lost Girl'' is a TV series produced for Canada's Creator/ShowcaseTelevision. It revolves around Bo, a young woman with the ability to control men and women through her touch and suck the life from them with a kiss. She is a [[HornyDevils succubus]], and one of the Fae, a group made up of several races of supernatural entities separated into two sides: Light and Dark. Rather than choosing a side, Bo decides to strike out on her own and learn about her past with the help of a streetwise sidekick named Kenzi, a Fae police detective named Dyson and his sidekick Hale, a beautiful scientist named Lauren, and a wise old man named Trick.

* PlayingGertrude: [[spoiler:Inga Cadranel (Aife, Bo's mother)]] is younger than Anna Silk (Bo) in real life.

Bo is washing her car and takes the opportunity to put on a show for Lauren and Dyson. She plays with the sponge and squeezes it against her chest to make sure her white tank top gets ''really'' wet and transparent (she is [[LingerieScene wearing a bra underneath]] so she [[NippleAndDimed stays barely decent]]). Lauren is so transfixed by the sight that she doesn't notice that her ice cream cone is melting all over her hand.

* CarCushion: In one episode, a hypnotized guy who fancies himself a tightrope walker falls to his death as soon as he steps foot on the rope. [[GoryDiscretionShot His landing isn't seen]] but heard, with a car siren joining the sound of splintering glass and metal when he hits the ground.
