->"''Space... A wondrous world, filled with infinite cosmic energy. Using the Astro Switches, these young people will open the door to the future of space. [[GratuitousEnglish Space on your hand!]] Reach out and seize the universe!''"
--> Opening Narration

The 2011-2012 ''KamenRider'' series and the thirteenth entry in the franchise's Heisei era. Pronounced "Four-Zeh" as in "'''Four'''-'''Ze'''ro",[[hottip:*:In Japanese phonetics]] i.e. ''KamenRider'''s 40th anniversary series.

Amanogawa High School is a school that encourages every one of its students to [[BeYourself be themselves]], creating a diverse (but chaotic) student body. Arriving into this bedlam is NewTransferStudent Gentaro Kisaragi, a cool guy with a {{Delinquent}} image who immediately vows to [[MagneticHero become friends with every single student in the school]].

When the school is attacked by [[MonsterOfTheWeek mysterious monsters named Zodiarts]], Gentaro receives the [[TransformationTrinket Fourze Driver and Astro Switches]] from fellow students Kengo Utahoshi and Yuki Jojima. Using their power, he transforms into Kamen Rider Fourze to protect the students of Amanogawa High. Fourze can equip up to four Astro Switches at once, using them to equip attachments onto his arms and legs that boost his combat potential.

The plot's main driving element is Gentaro's goal in [[ThePowerOfFriendship making friends with everyone in the school, even the Zodiarts Switchers.]] As such, many of the characters learn important life lessons from Gentaro as he tries not only to fight monsters, but also to befriend them and save them from themselves.
-----
!! Tropes Associated with Kamen Rider Fourze:

* AbsenteeActor: Averted, as in episodes #6 and #7 has Shun and Tomoko get just one appearance, with varying relevance to the plot (probably to set up their [[SpoilerOpening upcoming involvement]] as future members of the Kamen Rider Club). It's even lampshaded in #7 when Gentaro asks himself; "What was I thinking, how would he know about that?"
** Also averted in #8 with Sonoda and Ohsugi showing up in school ''on a Sunday''.
* AccidentalAimingSkills: In #7, during detention class, Shun, angry at Gentaro painting him a moustache as payback for throwing away the latter's detention papers[[hottip:*: All students are supposed to write the kanji Reflection a thousand times]], corners him. When Gentaro tries to get off, his brush[[hottip:*: Said detention giver gives Gentaro the task of doing his kanji with a caligraphy brush (hence it'll take longer for him to do.)]] flies away and accidentally paints ''[[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotAwesome a devil-head splatter]]'' all over [[{{Goth}} Tomoko's]] detention paper.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: How Gentaro makes it all the way into the Rabbit Hatch on the moon in #1.
* ActorAllusion: The new principal in #13 shows up in a dark red leather jacket - the color of [[KamenRiderBlade Kamen Rider Garren.]]
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: [[spoiler:In ''Movie War Megamax'', Nadeshiko is actually the alien energy SOLU trying to learn about humanity by imitating them; it took the form of a real girl (who we see at the end of the movie), copies what other people say, and even makes its own Rider Belt so it can help Gentaro. All of which makes it really [[TearJerker heart-breaking]] when she vanishes at the end after Gentaro has fallen helplessly in love with her.]]
* AlphaBitch: Miu Kazashiro, at first. She becomes [[LovableAlphaBitch much nicer]] starting with #4 and onwards.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: [[GadgeteerGenius Kengo]] scoffing the idea of witchcraft in #9. [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Unlike most other examples,]] he's proven ''right'' at the end.]]
* ArcWords: For Gentaro, the "Spirit of Youth".
** Also, there is lots of mention of Hayabusa the satellite, from Yuki's interest, [[RummageFail cosplay]] and song of it, to Shun's last name being rearranged to said space craft.
* ArtificialGravity: In the [[SpaceStation Rabbit Hatch]], there's a rather large switch on the wall with the label "Gravity Control".
* AscendedFridgeHorror: Speculation that Zodiarts have the option of shedding their human forms by ''destroying their bodies after Last One stage'' is pretty much confirmed in #10, when Ritsuko attempts this.
** Even moreso in #15, where we see [[spoiler:a {{Flashback}} to Sonoda going from regular Zodiarts to Scorpion; in the process of changing, we see her cocooned body '''disappear completely'''.]]
* BadBadActing: Yuki's play in #13, known as "The Theater of Youth". Long story short: [[ItMakesSenseInContext Kengo ''really'' does not want to play as Miura.]]
* BananaPeel: In #3, Gentaro slipped on a fresh one thrown by one member of Miu's GirlPosse.
* BattleAmongstTheFlames[=/=]BurningBuildingRescue: Fire States in #9.
* BeautyPageant: #3 centers on one. Keeping with the show's use of high school tropes, it's pretty obvious [[CurbStompBattle it's in the bag]] for [[AlphaBitch Miu]] from the get-go. Gentaro tries to turn it into a real contest by saying he'll become her friend if he can find someone who can beat her. Unfortunately, the only candidate he can find is [[TheDitz Yuki]]. And then episode then ends on a wham when a hidden-camera footage is played on the screen showing Miu throwing away fan letters and gifts from admirers, [[BreakTheHaughty turning most of the student body against her]].
* BetterThanItSounds: InUniverse example -- In #5, Tomoko puts ''nattō''[[hottip:*:A fermented soybean dish that is '''very''' LoveItOrHateIt in Japan]] on Yuuki's fried prawns. At first Yuuki is creeped out, but after she tries a bite she says it's actually pretty good.
* BigDamnHeroes: The Powerdizer's primary function, especially when Shun takes the wheel. Prominently displayed in #12 where he [[spoiler: stop a bus carrying many girls, Miu one of them, from falling off of an unfinished bridge.]]
** Kamen Rider Meteor in #16, saving Fourze and kicking the ass of Libra Zodiarts.
* BigEater: Jun, one of Miu's sidekicks, is almost always seen eating, usually candy and snacks. She even has bananas hanging from the inside of her locker door!
* BookEnds: #9 starts with Yuki and Gentaro racing to school; #10 ends with [[spoiler:Tomoko joining them.]]
** #15 shows the debut of Motoyama on the rooftop with his painting of Mount Fuji. Where do we see him in the following episode? Back on that rooftop, redoing that same picture and Abe meeting up with him.
* BreakingTheBonds: Subverted in #10; Gentarou supposedly uses "the double energy of youth" to break his bonds, but it turns out that Kengo just summoned a Foodroid to cut the bonds.
* BrickJoke: Tomoko with her devil-head inkblot, from #7 to #8.
** That corner in the back of the school where the hoodlums attack Gentaro and fail (twice) is shown vacant in #5. Then #7 reveals that the hoodlums have found an alternate hangout outside school grounds.
** A visual CallBack to the "trash" label for Gentaro appears in #6 - he's left for dead on an empty grassy slope, but when Tomoko finds him later on, he's suddenly surrounded by actual trash.
** In #9, Gentaro and Yuki's reason for running is to be energized with the "full power of youth" returns when [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotAwesome Gentaro successfully frees himself from rope binding him.]]...then it's just revealed that Kengo got his foodroids to cut the ropes.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: After defeating Scorpion in #14, the Rocket and Drill switches are exhausted and can't be used until they fully recharge at the end of #16.
* ButNotTooForeign: [[JerkJock Shun Daimonji]] is played by half-Caucasian Justin Tomimori.
** Which makes is [[YourMileageMayVary potentially]] funnier when detention teacher Satake-sensei vows to make Shun "[[BlackAndWhiteMorality all white]]."
* CallBack: Makise of #11 calling Gentaro [[GratuitousEnglish "Bad Boy"]]. He may have been in Satake's detention before, particularly given his psychopathic mindset and stalker tendencies.
** Yuuki teaches the Amanogawa glee club the Hayabusa song she sang in #3.
** The Pen Switch calls back to Satake's detention. Not the first time Gentaro wound up with [[NonIndicativeName a brush instead...]]
* CameraFiend: Miura's girlfriend is one, as she's in the Photography. His father also has a photography business. Miura himself joins the Photography Club after freeing himself from the temptation of a Zodiarts Switch.
* CastingGag: The actress who played Amane from ''KamenRiderBlade'', widely regarded as TheScrappy at the time, returns as the ''intentionally'' antagonistic Ritsuko of #9-10.
* CatchAFallingStar: In ''Movie Wars Megamax'', Nadeshiko first appears falling out of the sky (and being caught by Gentaro, who falls in LoveAtFirstSight).
* CatchPhrase:
** "UCHUU KITAAAAA" [[hottip:*:Translation varies depending on who you ask. Options include "Space is here!" (the most literal), "It's space time!", "Space is awesome!", "Space, [[TeamAmericaWorldPolice f*** yeah!]]" or simply "[[{{VideoGame/Portal2}} SPAAAAAAAACE]]"]], ever since the first trailers.
*** He gets a variation of it in Movie Megamax called "KANOJO KITAAAA" [[hottip:*:It's girlfriend time!]]
** His method of introducing himself is also a catchphrase; "My name is Gentaro Kisaragi. And I am the man who will become friends with everyone in this school."
** There is also Miu's "Oops".
** Scorpion's ''"Hoshi ni negai"'' (Translation: "Wish upon the Stars.")
* CerebusSyndrome: As early as #11 to boot with Makise and his insanity. After he's dispatched, Fourze hasn't been the same, what with the identity of the Scorpio Zodiarts being revealed the episode after, and several other facts about the Zodiarts Switches being revealed.
* ChekhovsGun: The bunny picture Tomoko was coloring ([[NightmareFuelStationAttendant with blood!]]) in #11 [[spoiler:reappears on the real Rabbit Hatch locker in #12.]]
** Also, Switches that are shown in one episode will come in handy in another.
* ChildhoodFriends: Gentaro and Yuki.
* ChristmasEpisode: Episodes 15 and 16 involve around Yuki helping the Glee Club, and the Kamen Rider Club having their own Christmas Party.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Played straight. Scorpion's Dustards (read: Mooks) were able to overwhelm Fourze when they were attacking individually. Once they started attacking at the same time, Fourze got a break.
* ContinuityNod: When seeing the interior of the Rabbit Hatch, one can notice two posters on the wall: One of Miu from #3, and another about JK Night in #5.
** Miura gets mentioned in #8, stating that he was currently in the hospital after using the Zodiarts Switch. He appears in Episode 13-14, with the Kamen Rider Club trying to help him recover after becoming a Zodiarts.
** Chouske is seen in #7 with all the other delinquents in a new hangout so Gentaro doesn't beat them up again.
** Yuki brings up the witches of #9-10 to scare off Ohsugi in #11 - but he's stricken with acute GenreBlindness.
** After the events in #11-12, Gentaro and company are seen screwing the locker to the wall.
* CoolGate: Kengo's locker serves as a teleporter to a space station...[[spoiler: although it seems that the Pyxis Zodiarts annihilates it in #11.]]
* CoolLoser: Fitting with the general theme of American-style high school shows, the "geeks" (Gentaro, Yuki and [reluctantly] Kengo) are all attractive and friendly people who are only considered losers because they're not part of the JerkJock and AlphaBitch's social circles. Kengo even has ''an admirer'' in episode 1.
* CouchGag: The camera goes into a hard zoom of a random Astro or Zodiarts Switch before the OP starts every week.
* CrazyPrepared: Kengo's father in designing Fourze. And not just the Switches, but the fact he's capable of entering and exiting the Earth's atmosphere with just his motorcycle and the Powerdizer, as well as surviving in space without any extra assistance.
* {{Crossover}}: Although it's not known to what extent this element will go, magazines have mentioned that there'll be urban legends in Fourze about the battles by previous Riders. The only confirmed one right now is about [[Series/KamenRider Rider 1]].
** {{Retcon}}: [[http://www.rangercrew.com/forum/showthread.php?21029-Kamen-Rider-Fourze-Discussion-Thread&p=875144&viewfull=1#post875144 Apparently]], ''Fourze'' will be using this aspect to fix continuity errors introduced by [[KamenRiderDecade Decade]].
*** This leads to a general case of [[FlatWhat "What the hell?"]], since Decade's entire storyline was based on a character hopping around in alternate realities, rather than the primary Rider continuities. Exactly what continuity errors Decade is supposed to have caused must have been ''doozies'' since they somehow occurred despite him not travelling anywhere in the original chain of Heisei Rider shows.
** And of course, the now-annual tradition of a ''Movie Wars'' crossover applies too; however, this time Fourze won't just be meeting his immediate predecessor [[KamenRiderOOO OOO]], but also [[KamenRiderDouble Double]], [[Series/KamenRider Riders 1 and 2]], [[KamenRiderV3 V3 and Riderman]], [[KamenRiderX X-Rider]], [[KamenRiderAmazon Amazon]], and [[KamenRiderStronger Stronger]].
* CurbstompBattle:
** Gentaro vs the thugs who hang out behind the school...''[[RunningGag twice.]]''
** Fourze vs the Scorpion Zodiarts in episode 3.
** The Scorpion Zodiarts vs Shun when he first pilots the Powerdizer. Scorpion Zodiarts can't land a single hit on Shun and is forced to retreat.
** Scorpion Zodiarts gets pounded by Fourze's Fire State and has to retreat once more. Then it got pounded in #13 and could've been in trouble had it not summoned Mooks.
** OneWingedAngel Scorpion Zodiarts vs. normal Powerdizer. Guess which one wins?
* CuteMachines: The Foodroid buddies. Miu absolutely adores these cute little guys.
* CutenessProximity: So far every time a new Foodroid has debuted, we see Miu gush over how cute they are.
** NotSoAboveItAll: The one that debuted in #11 is gushed upon by both Miu and [[PerkyGoth Tomoko]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Each character outside the main trio has been getting a 2-episode arc for CharacterDevelopment.
** Episodes #3 and #4 showcases Miu. AlphaBitch -> LovableAlphaBitch
** Episodes #5 and #6 showcases JK. DirtyCoward -> LovableCoward
** Episodes #7 and #8 showcases Shun. JerkJock -> LovableJock
** Episodes #9 and #10 showcases Tomoko. {{Goth}} -> PerkyGoth
** Episodes #11 and #12 elaborates on Yuki and Kengo after they shared focus with Gentaro in #1-2. We learn how Yuki will risk anything to help her friends, and Kengo opens up and officially becomes part of the Kamen Rider Club.
** Episodes #13 and 14 showcases Miura and pretty much shows what happens to a former Switcher. [[spoiler: [[IGotBetter He got better after 14.]]]]
** Episodes #17 and #18 will feature Kamen Rider Meteor's background and reasons for being a Kamen Rider.
* DeadlyUpgrade: Apparently, the Elek Switch has a mind of its own, since Gentaro claims it was trying to take over him when he used it for the first time. This is fixed in the following episode, though.
** The true nature of the Horoscopes could be considered as this - Zodiarts destined for something greater evolve past Last One stage to this irreversible form.
* DealWithTheDevil: Invoked in #11 when [[spoiler:Yuki winds up begging ''the MonsterOfTheWeek'' to track down the Rabbit Hatch locker. Said monster goes back on his deal, though.]]
** The Switchers seem like a straight example, except Scorpion Zodiarts never lays out any terms apart from "make a wish to the stars".
* DebutQueue: While all the main characters in the Kamen Rider Club have appeared as early as episode 1, the first few arcs so far have focused on each of the members joining so far.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Gentaro seems to be taking a page from [[LyricalNanoha Nanoha's]] book, as he (or one of his posse) will comfort the VictimOfTheWeek afterwards.
** Episodes 3 and 4 have a twist on this: The MonsterOfTheWeek (aka Tamae) makes Miu a FallenPrincess by revealing her inner bitch to the students via EngineeredPublicConfession, all to win the school's BeautyPageant. Gentaro convinces her not to give up but to do things fair and square, resulting in Miu giving a heartfelt speech that nets her the crown, all of which causes her to warm up to Gentaro and join his crew.
** Actually, since Miu won the bet, that meant Gentaro would have to leave the school. She cuts another deal with him: let her in on the Kamen Rider Club, and he stays. He accepts.
** [[spoiler:Subverted with the Pyxis Zodiarts, who was such a monster that Gentaro just [[DoWithHimAsYouWill leaves him at the mercy of his victims.]]]]
* DefaceOfTheMoon: Spoofed. Gentaro has just used the Pen Switch to write "Merry Christmas" in katakana and a poorly drawn reindeer on the moon. Kengo is not amused at the slightest.
* {{Delinquent}}: The protagonist dresses like one, but is actually a rather nice guy.
** Then there's the group of Delinquents that Gentaro's beats up in #2 and #3.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Kamen Rider Meteor's civilian name is Ryuusei Sakuta. Ryuusei means "Meteor" in Japanese.
* DisappearedDad: Kengo's father, who was supposedly killed out in space seventeen years before the events of the show.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Fire States is pretty much a Kamen Rider as a {{Rescue}} hero.
** The "Lunar Prophecy" mentioned in #9-10 is awfully similar in definition to the Rapture. Thank YOU, Harold Camping.
** Hiroki Makise's intent of stalking people...doesn't this remind anyone of [[KamenRiderOOO a creepy scientist?]] In fact, why don't you take out the "se" part of the name and see what you get. Do note, though, that the Kanji used for the two family names are completely different.
** After one is freed from the use of the Zodiarts Switch, they start getting withdrawal symptoms. And the play that was done in #13 can also be taken in as an anti-drug campaign.
* DoWithHimAsYouWill: [[spoiler:Hiroki Makise, the Pyxis Zodiarts, is left at the mercy of his victims by Gentaro. Do ''not'' [[ItsPersonal make things personal for Gentaro.]]]]
* DramaticIrony:
** The audience knows about [[spoiler: both the principal and Sonoda being Zodiarts]], but for now the Kamen Rider Club is in the dark.
*** [[spoiler: In #18, Gentaro, Kengo and Yuki only know that Scorpio was a woman...and now they'll probably ''never'' find out that their homeroom teacher is Scorpion Zodiarts.]]
** In #15, we have a zoom in on Kengo, but [[MeaningfulBackgroundEvent we also see]] ''Hayami and Sonoda''. [[FailedASpotCheck If Kengo just took the chance to look to his left]], he would've known who sicced Perseus on Fourze!
** Gentaro lets Kamen Rider Meteor into the Kamen Rider Club in #18.
* DynamicEntry: A teaser for the ''KamenRiderOOO'' summer movie reveals him making his EarlyBirdCameo this way, coming down in a fireball to help OOO fight [[BigBad Gara]].
** Yuki does this to Gentarou with a spinning drop kick[[hottip:*: Or as she calls it, "Armstrong Kick!"]]. ON THE MOON. See TwinkleInTheSky to see its results.
** Shun in the Powerdizer starts doing this in #10. Gentaro also does the first unmorphed Rider Kick of the season.
*** Gentaro does another unmorphed kick in #14 on Scorpion Zodiarts.
* Meteor's entry is becoming a blue ball of energy (or a Meteor) and collides with the Zodiarts.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Fourze appears in ''KamenRiderOOO'''s summer movie.
** He gets another one as a SecretCharacter in ''All Kamen Rider Generations'' for the NintendoDS.
** Kengo and Yuki get one in the final episode of ''OOO'', where they are seen walking down the street together [[spoiler:as a fully-recovered Shingo bids Hina goodbye as she goes to fashion college]].
** [[spoiler: Kamen Rider Meteor appears at the end of Movie War Megamax. He makes his debut in Episode 16.]]
* ElementalPowers:
** Astro Switches
*** [[spoiler:AnIcePerson: The Freeze Switch.]]
*** LightEmUp: The [[color:yellow:Flash]] Switch.
*** MakeMeWannaShout: The [[color:crimson:Beat]] Switch.
*** MakingASplash: The [[color:blue:Water]] Switch.
** States forms
*** NonElemental: [[color:gray:Base]] States and [[color:orange:Rocket]] States.
*** PlayingWithFire[=/=]MakingASplash: [[color:red:Fire]] States, depending on the mode of the [[color:red:Hee-Hack Gun]].
*** ShockAndAwe: [[color:gold:Elek]] States
* EngineeredPublicConfession: During the [[BeautyPageant Queen Festival]] at the end of Episode 3, someone [[spoiler: Tamae, aka Chameleon Zodiarts]] broadcasts hidden-camera footage of Miu insulting her admirers and [[KickTheDog throwing away their fan letters and presents]]. [[BreakTheHaughty One can probably guess what happens.]]
* EpicTrackingShot:
** In #5, when Gentaro transforms the camera zooms out to view the Earth then zooms back in to Fourze while he said his catch phrase.
** In #13, we repeat it but it adds a view of the moon before going back to Fourze.
** #14 follows this up by going past the sun before flying back.
** And in #15 we go from Fourze, to a plane to Mercury before going to Fourze. Then we have another with it spanning across the solar system.
** Inverted in #18 as it was from an above shot. We instead zoom in onto the Fourze Belt.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: The [[ManBehindTheMan mysterious leader behind the Zodiarts]] was initally only known as "The Red-Eyed Man" in promotional materials.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Kamen Rider Meteor's body sparkled when he first show himself.
* EvolvingCredits: Like with ''OOO'', the opening is usually adjusted to highlight the latest Switches, but it's stopped at Switch #20 for now.
* ExplosiveOverclocking: Doing a Limit Break twice in a row causes the Switches to shut down entirely until they're able to absorb Cosmic Energy.
* FallingIntoTheCockpit: Invoked with the Powerdizer, which seems designed to let ''anyone'' take control whether or not they can handle it.
* {{Fanservice}}: BeachEpisode be damned, [[AlphaBitch Miu]] and her [[GirlPosse lackeys]] bring out the bikinis as early as #3!
** FanserviceExtra: There's an AlphaBitch in #9 that, shall we say, [[BiggerIsBetter fills out her swimsuit]] a bit more than most high school students ought to.
* FastballSpecial: Done in #8 when the Powerdizer does a CatchAndReturn on Fourze, before he fires up the first Drill kick in Elek States.
* FiveManBand: As of #10:
** TheHero: Gentaro
** TheLancer[=/=]TheSmartGuy: Kengo [[hottip:*:Fits TheLancer as Gentaro's MissionControl and TheSmartGuy as the team's [[TheStrategist Strategist]].]]
** TheBigGuy: Shun [[hottip:*:Also fits as a secondary {{Lancer}} for being Gentaro's fighting partner in the Powerdizer.]]
** TheBumblebee: JK [[hottip:*:Also fits as a secondary SmartGuy for his skills as an info-broker.]]
** TheHeart: Yuki
** {{The Chick}}s: Miu and Tomoko.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: #3 has JK giving an ominous look after learning about Fourze, leading up to the premise of his focus arc (using Fourze as his next HumanShield while mirroring the MonsterOfTheWeek's origins).
** #7 mentions that Kengo cannot bring out the Powerdizer's full potential because of his condition, while highlighting Shun's tackle as a CharlesAtlasSuperpower of sorts, hinting that [[spoiler:Shun will be given the Powerdizer when he joins up.]]
** In #9, Tomoko hinted the Fire Switch would cause downfall for the witches. [[spoiler: It plays two ways: Altar Zodiarts has the ability to throw fire from her head, but Fire States Fourze can ''absorb'' all fire attacks thrown at him!]]
** At the end of #14, the KRC joke about Gentaro in love. [[spoiler:Considering this is pretty much the plot of Fourze's part of ''Movie War Mega Max''...]]
* {{Forgiveness}}: Tying into the show's overall theme of friendship, Miu forgives Tamae for attacking her at the end of #4.
** Partly subverted with JK in #6, after Gentaro finds out that JK used him, he says that he's going to befriend JK so the guy realizes that Gentaro can accept him as he already was.
** Completely averted with Makise. [[spoiler: The guy's such a total jerk that Gentaro won't even extend his hand of friendship onto him.]]
** Miura doesn't want forgiveness. [[spoiler: He wants to get high on becoming a Zodiarts...but then he's cured thanks to looking at some of his girlfriend's photos.]]
* ForWantOfANail: Gentaro would've been able to stop Hound Zodiarts at the end of #7 had Shun not come in and knocked him in the head with a football.
* FreezeFrameBonus: In the EvolvingCredits for #10 onwards, during the montage of Fourze using his various switches, Shield!Fourze flashes a peace sign from behind his shield.
** #15. Some book artist thinks Perseus looked like OrlandoBloom.
* FreudianExcuse: Daimonji behaves at first like a JerkJock because his father wants him to behave according to the principles of Machiavellism.
** It's much more than that; his father is always telling him what to do (ex: date Miu since she's queen, decide who gets benched and what plays to make, etc.) and that's caused great animosity between him and the team. Deep down Shun's just envious about Gentaro and the Kamen Rider Club because they actually get along and have fun, something that he wished he could do with his own football team.
** Heck, many of the Zodiarts[[hottip:*: except Makise]] also have some sort of excuse as to why they become monsters.
* FreudianTrio
** TheMcCoy: Gentaro
** TheSpock: Kengo
** TheKirk: Yuki
* FunnyBackgroundEvent:
** In the opening, during the montage of Fourze using various Switches, Shield!Fourze can be seen flashing a peace sign and Flash!Fourze accidentally blinds himself.
** #1 has a funny ''foreground'' event the first time we see the classroom, with one student invoking some kind of summon ritual amidst the classroom chatter.
** #5. Sonoda and Ohsugi are discussing something while another teacher in the back is getting punked by a student, then retaliates with a [[WrestlerInAllOfUs necklock.]]
** #9. While Kengo is pointing out the silliness of Yuki and Gentaro racing to school every morning, there's a couple of the "inmate" students doing an even more strenuous exercise behind him.
** #10. More of an easter egg, but when the witches tie up the entire Kamen Rider Club, JK's hands are inexplicably tied into his JK finger salute.
** #16: While the Kamen Rider Club (minus Gentaro) is admiring their Christmas Cake, the three Foodroids are fighting over party hats.
* GiantRobotHandsSaveLives: Powerdizer again. Justified as the hands are formed by the rubber tires, and even Kengo can exact enough control over it to take the Fourze Driver back from Gentaro back in #2.
* GRatedDrug: In a way. Miura is apparently addicted to the powers of the Zodiarts, and hallucinates Switches whenever he sees something vaguely resembling one.
* GoodCopBadCop: Invoked in #9 when Sonoda and Ohsugi question Gentaro and company about the coven's attack on the swim team - then [[EpicFail fails horribly]] when Ohsugi gets sidetracked.
* {{Goth}}: Tomoko Nozama, but as of #10 she's become a PerkyGoth.
** Don't forget the trio of witches in #9 and #10, a {{Goth}} GirlPosse of sorts.
* GratuitousEnglish: Oh, where to begin?...
** It doesn't help that Gentaro seems to have a hard time understanding the English words everyone is throwing left and right. (The best one is in the first episode, believing Miu calling Gentaro 'Trash amongst Trash' meant 'Man amongst Men'). Ironically, he knows how to say "Thank you" in English and one of his shirts has a quote ''in English!''
** The detention teacher in #7 uses a few English words, but especially "bad boy" for Gentaro, which he always pronounces in a gleeful, but kind of creepy way.
** Episode 15 has Yuki, along with the Glee Club, sing a nice rendition of ''Jingle Bells''.
*** In the same episode when JK goes to throw Fourze the Pen switch, he says "This is a Pen". Seriously.
* HalloweenEpisode: #9-10. It's like they held off Tomoko's focus arc just to put it in here.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Gentaro tries to prove in Episode 3 that the [[color:gold:Hopping]] switch, basically a pogo stick which Kengo [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway deemed useless]], is useful. [[spoiler:He succeeds.]]
** Even Gentaro is ready to write off (no pun intended) the Pen Switch until Tomoko discovers that its brushstrokes become three-dimensional objects.
* {{Homage}}:
** Fourze himself seems to be one to [[{{Kamen Rider Super-1}} Super-1]] -- both are space-based Riders with a white-and-black color job and wield modular weapons systems.
** His helmet is also reminiscent of ''SpaceIronmenKyodain'''s Skyzel.
** Shun could probably be considered the Kamen Rider version of Andrew from ''TheBreakfastClub'' what with having a similar background to him.
** Kamen Rider Meteor fights in a style reminiscent of BruceLee's Jeet Kune Do,
* HotBlooded: Gentaro, so very much.
** Considering who [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann the head writer is]], and considering who [[NobuyukiHiyama narrates the show]], hot blood is to be expected.
* HumanShield: The Chameleon Zodiarts uses Miu to keep Gentaro[=/=]Fourze from attacking. Eventually Miu solves the problem by [[IShallTauntYou taunting the Zodiarts]] into throwing her off a bridge, which lets Gentaro save her and get her to safety.
** As revealed in #6, JK using someone like this [[LaserGuidedKarma led him to become a]] MonsterOfTheWeek.
** JK himself becomes a shield to the Lynx Zodiarts in #17.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: The Horoscopes Zodiarts wear a [[PowerLimiter robe that limits their power]]. Even without taking it off, Scorpion was more than a match for Fourze in their first fight.
** The Unicorn Zodiarts spent most of episode 5 fighting hand to hand, during which Fourze had the upperhand. Then he unexpectedly evolves by pulling off his horn (along with his face plate) to use as sword towards the very end of the episode and proceeds to easily beat the stuffing out of him.
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: Each episode has a title written in four kanji which when taken together forms a sentence.
* InstitutionalApparel: Parodied. All students get school tracksuits, as seen in #8, but they're bright orange, making the "muscle" clique, who wears them the most, look like inmates.
* JapaneseHonorifics: In #7, Gentaro does a ''yobisute'' towards his teacher, i.e. he doesn't use a honorific like ''sensei'' or ''san'' while saying the teacher's name. Doing this without permission is a grave insult in Japanese culture, which is why the teacher punishes him by making him study while doing a handstand.
* JapaneseSchoolClub: The Kamen Rider Club
** ClubStub: Originally just two friends with a moonbase before Gentaro arrived and declared it a club.
*** Worse than that, the "Astronomy Club" in #11 hardly counts as a stub with ''just one member''.
*** The Glee Club may also count, given that there are only three of them by the time of the show - and all of them are men, meaning they have to ask Yuuki for her help.
* JerkJock: Shun and his football team. [[spoiler: As of #8, scratch the Jerk off of Shun.]]
* TheJimmyHartVersion: Know why Miu's {{Leitmotif}} sounds so epic? It's based off [[KillBill "Battle without Honor or Humanity"]]!
* LargeHam: Gentaro, '''AND HOW!''' He's possibly the hammiest Rider in KamenRider history.
** And then there's Yuki. [[http://www.jefusion.com/2011/09/kamen-rider-fourze-henshin-fight.html Just watch her reactions from seeing Gentaro transform.]]
** Miu and JK have their moments, her with the inflated ego and he with the exaggerated savvy.
*** JK deserves special mention. Scope out the LifeOfTheParty entry.
** The show's narrator is NobuyukiHiyama. 'Nuff said, really. For complete and total ham overload, watch the Super Hero Time intro for ''Fourze'' and ''[[KaizokuSentaiGokaiger Gokaiger]]'' which features both shows' narrators (Hiyama and TomokazuSeki).
* {{Leitmotif}}: Every member of the Kamen Rider Club has one.
** The Rabbit Hatch itself has a DaftPunk-worthy one.
* [[LethalJokeCharacter Lethal Joke Weapon]]
** The Water Switch: Looks like an oversized faucet, generates enough pressure to obliterate Dustards. Imagine jabbing the Elek rod into the stream...
** The Pen Switch: Is just a gigantic ink brush attached to his leg, but anything that he writes or draws with it becomes solid, allowing Fourze to [[BarrierWarrior block attacks with swipes of solid ink]].
* LifeOfTheParty: JK. If JK comes ringing, it's PARTY TIME!!
* LightningBruiser: The Powerdizer is pretty light on its feet, given its size, as it demonstrates in #10.
* LimitedWardrobe: Justified by the school environment (and gets rather egregious with Shun and Miu), though it should be mentioned that Gentaro wears his uniform to "JK Night" in #5 when everyone else has dressed to the nines (well, moreso than usual in [=JK's=] case.)
** Gentaro subverts this: while he still has his jacket and pants, he'll sometime be depicted in different shirts. Also, starting with #15, the school is shown wearing winter coats, and Gentaro now sports a new jacket.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Gentaro gets hit with this ''hard'' in ''Movie Wars Megamax'', falling for Nadeshiko while she, well, [[CatchAFallingStar just falls]].
** In his words, "KANOJO KITA [[hottip:*:Roughly translates to "It's girlfriend time."]]!"
* MakeWayForThePrincess: When we first meet Miu and the GirlPosse.
** There's a DarkReprise of sorts in #10, with Ritsuko and the coven of witches.
* ManlyTears: Gentaro sheds some when he discovers he is in space in Episode 2.
** This could also be a case of Foreshadowing; he asks himself why he's crying when he realizes his location.
** He does this again once he hears Shun's backstory. Although this is InelegantBlubbering.
** And again in episode 13, while listening to Miura's girlfriend.
* {{Mangst}}: When Kengo [[spoiler: is trapped in Rabbit Hole]] in Episode 12.
* MeaningfulBackgroundEvent: You can ''just'' spot [[spoiler:Sonoda and Hayami]] observing the battles in #15 and #17.
* MeaningfulName: The name of Gentaro's school, Amanogawa High, can be translated as "Milky Way".
** The name of Fourze's bike, Massiguler, is taken from the japanese word "Masshigura", which can be translated as "full speed ahead".
*** Don't forget the names of the main characters being based on previous Kamen Riders.
* MilestoneCelebration: Fourze is romanized as "40", in connection with Kamen Rider's 40th anniversary.
** According to TheOtherWiki, the series is also in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's feat as the first human in space.
* MiniMecha: The Powerdizer, in terms of size at least; operation-wise, it's more of a PoweredArmor.
** It should be noted that not anyone can use it. Kengo can't use it due to his ill condition, and Miu couldn't maintain it longer despite being in more physical condition than Kengo. When Shun takes the wheel, he's able to use it to its full potential.
* MirrorMatch: #16. Fourze ends up fighting a clone of himself - when Gentaro uses his Astro switches, the clone whips out a ''[[SimpleStaff kakkhara]]''.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: Like [[{{KamenRiderDen-O}} a couple of]] [[KamenRiderOOO Riders before him]], Fourze has to deal with humans who make a DealWithTheDevil and end up unwittingly spawning Zodiarts. They use Zodiarts Switches to transform into monsters. When a Zodiarts Switch is in "Last One" state it spawns a stronger version of the Zodiarts with a separate body while the user's body goes comatose and wrapped in cobwebs.
** #01-02: Shunya Miura (Orion Zodiarts), a football club member [[TheDogBitesBack fed up]] with [[JerkJock Shun]] treating him like a lackey and denying him the chance to play on the field.
** #03-04: Tamae Sakuma (Chameleon Zodiarts), a member of [[AlphaBitch Miu]]'s [[PowerTrio cheerleading trio]] who has grown [[TheStarscream sick and tired]] of the latter's winning streak at the school's BeautyPageant.
** #05-06: Fumihiro Nitta (Unicorn Zodiarts), a member of the fencing team with a grudge against JK for [[DirtyCoward using him as a human shield]] from a bunch of bullies.
** #07-08: Teruhiko Satake (Hound Zodiarts), the son of detention teacher Takashi Satake, who takes the switch in order to rebel against his father.
** #09-10: Ritsuko Usaka (Altar Zodiarts), a {{goth}} girl who leads a witches' coven that invited Tomoko in. [[spoiler: Tomoko almost became one, but decided not to in the end.]]
** #11-12: Hiroki Makise (Pyxis[[hottip:*:The Mariner's Compass]] Zodiarts), the president of Amanogawa High's astronomy club with an [[StalkerWithACrush obsessive crush]] on Yuki [[spoiler: and has had similar tendencies on ''other students'' before her]].
** #13-14: Scorpion Zodiarts/[[spoiler: Sarina Sonoda]], the one who's given the switches to the previous 6 Zodiarts.
** #15-16: Soushi Motoyama (Perseus Zodiarts), president of Amanogawa High's art club who uses his Switch to silence people so he can paint in peace.
** #17-18: Masao Nomomura (Lynx Zodiarts), a self-proclaimed rival of Kengo who took down all other students with higher test scores than he.
* MoodWhiplash: After we hear Shun's confession on his jealousy over the Kamen Rider Club (with melancholy music in the background), we cut to Gentaro going through InelegantBlubbering.
* {{Mooks}}: The Dustards. Surprisingly for mooks, they actually put up a pretty good fight.
* MoonRabbit: The mission control on the moon is called the Rabbit Hatch (homophonous with "hutch").
* MultiformBalance
** JackOfAllStats: [[color:gray:Base]] States
** GlassCannon: [[color:gold:Elek]] States
** LightningBruiser: [[color:red:Fire]] States
** FragileSpeedster: [[color:orange:Rocket]] States
** [[spoiler:MightyGlacier: Magnet States]]
* MythologyGag: Gentaro winding up with the belt due to Kengo's condition brings to mind HiroshiFujioka's well-documented GameBreakingInjury, which led to the creation of the second Kamen Rider. [[KamenRiderOOO Not the only time it's been done, either...]]
** Speaking of which, the very first [=MotW=] has three circles in a row on its belt buckle. The TronLines are negligible though, since apparently all Zodiarts will depict their constellations this way.
** JK even has his own finger-salute representing the letters J and K. [[KamenRiderJ We've seen the J before.]]
** Kengo carries out his own investigations to unmask the Chameleon Zodiarts, and winds up replicating KamenRiderDouble's finger-point gesture.
*** Speaking of which, #7 has JK running from the MonsterOfTheWeek while yelling "[[GoLookAtTheDistraction look, UFO! Abominable snowman!]]", calling back to Detective Jinno's focus episode.
%% ** The [[http://i.imgur.com/5SCBS.jpg MagPhone]] UpgradeArtifact is designed to go into two Astro Switch ports simultaneously for [[http://i.imgur.com/RFALl.jpg Magnet States]], much like the Xtreme Memory.
** The gigantic explosions caused by powerful Zodiarts that can cause major damage call back to ''KamenRiderKuuga''. The police dealing with the Hound Zodiarts - ineffectively - may also be a call back.
** The Beat switch delivers [[KamenRiderHibiki a sound attack that even sounds like a drum.]]
** A girl in the sixth episode has [[{{KamenRiderDen-O}} New Den-O]]'s henshin sound as a ringtone.
** Fire States has [[KamenRiderTheNext the ability to suck in all surrounding flames to empower itself.]]
** The Pyxis Zodiarts has a disturbing resemblance to [[KamenRiderOOO Uva]].
** Gentaro does a point-blank fire shot in Fire States against Perseus Zodiarts in #15, much like how [[KamenRiderBlade Kamen Rider Garren]] and KamenRiderDouble [[color:red:Heat]][[color:blue:Trigger]] form used such an attack. Interestingly, Meteor has a similar move in #18 via the "Mars" function on his [[PowerFist Meteor Galaxy]].
** Kamen Rider Meteor's support is named Tachibana in honor or Tobei Tachibana, who was an ally and mechanic to the Showa Riders (from No 1 to Stronger).
** In #17, Sonoda does [[KamenRiderW Wakana Sonozaki's]] CharacterTic, complete with a close-up on her lips.
** The storage room Kengo's locker is in also contains [[KamenRiderKabuto Daisuke's guitar case]].
* NewTransferStudent: Gentaro has only recently transferred to his current school. Also, Ryusei Sakuta/Kamen Rider Meteor who transfered to the school in #17.
* NightmareFuelColoringBook: Makise's 'Diary of the Future' in #11-12 could be considered one, since it's filled with cheery ''manga'' artwork depicting things like his date with Yuki under the stars, or [[spoiler:a bus full of students plummeting to their deaths]]...
* NonuniformUniform: JK alone already covers this trope with his gaudy neon hoodies he wears under his blazer, but mention should also go Miu and Tomoko. Miu wears the sleeves of her blazer a little short to allow the cuffs of her blouse to fold upward. Tomoko wears a black bow tie instead of the standard red and wears her skirt longer than other female students. Gentaro's case is a different trope entirely.
* NumerologicalMotif: "40" of course.
** People are starting to notice a pattern emerging: [[KamenRiderDecade Decade]] ('''1'''0, who can transform into one person at a time), [[KamenRiderDouble Double]] ('''2''', body in two parts), [[KamenRiderOOO OOO]] ('''3''', body in three parts), and now Fourze ('''4'''0, body in four parts).
* OhCrap: [[spoiler: After finding out the locker that leads to the Rabbit Hatch was in the trash, the Pyxis Zodiarts redirect Gentaro's missiles so it destroys it. But it turns out in the next episode that it wasn't really the Rabbit Hatch locker.]]
** [[spoiler: In Episode 15, Perseus Zodiarts revives after getting hit with a Limit Break and the possibility that he'll become one of the eight remaining Horoscopes.]]
** [[spoiler: In Episode 17, Lynx Zodiarts has grown larger and Kamen Rider Meteor is preventing Gentaro from kicking its ass.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Gentaro is a [[SecondYearProtagonist second year high schooler]].
** The other members of the Kamen Rider Club actually qualify for this.
* PlugNPlayTechnology: The Fourze Driver and all Foodroids are Astro Switch compatible - Fourze has used Potechokin's Scissors Switch in #7, Burgermeal's Camera and the Flash switch in #9 before its corresponding Foodroid pops up two eps later. (we have yet to see Foodroids use the belt switches though).
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Whenever a State debuts, depending on whom Gentaro befriends will help bring out its full potential. Once Gentaro befriends JK by tolerating him being a DirtyCoward, he can use Elek States better. When he befriends Tomoko and helps her open up, it lets Fire State absorb all of Altar's fire attacks.
* PowerIncontinence: The initial problem with the Elek Switch, until Gentaro channels it ''through the rest of the suit'' to trigger his first form change.
** A comment made in #10 suggests that when Gentaro makes friends with someone, it somehow relates to his willingess to use the states.
* PowerSource: The Lunar Witches use special amulets that channel Altar Zodiarts's power to them. Destroying them means they have no more power.
* PropRecycling: Unlike the [[KamenRiderDouble Dopant Memories]], Zodiarts switches tend to be identical. And [[spoiler:Sonoda in her old Canis Minor form]] in a flashback in #15 looks a lot like the Hound Zodiarts from a while back.
* RatedMForManly: Football, hot girls, and [[HotBlooded Hot Blood]] in the first episode ALONE. It's already looking like Fourze will be the most manly ''KamenRider'' ever made.
* RecycledInSpace: Motif-wise, literally.
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:In #13 a new character is introduced with many mannerisms of the Scorpion Zodiarts. But in reality, Sonoda is the culprit. The new character is another more powerful Zodiarts, anyway.]]
** It even goes further than that. In #5, we find out that Ohsugi's Zodiac sign is Scorpio. [[spoiler: But he's apparently not the Zodiarts in question and is locked out of the loop when it comes to these Zodiarts.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Gentaro and Kengo. If we talk Kamen Riders, then it's Fourze and Meteor.
** Shun and JK also fit.
** And with the girls we have (from Red to Blue) Yuki, Tomoko then Miu.
* RobotBuddy: The Foodroids.
** Burgermeal Foodroid: A burger-shaped drone that can be used with the Camera Switch for surveillance.
** Potechokin [[hottip:*:potato (i.e., fries) and ''chokin'', cut]] Foodroid: A French fries-shaped drone that can be used with the Scissors Switch to cut things.
** Hulashake [[hottip:*:[[{{Engrish}} Very likely]] supposed to be "Flashake"]] Foodroid: A milkshake shaped drone that can be used with the Flash Switch to illuminate dark areas.
* RuleOfThree: Shown all over the place. Miu and Ritsuko lead a posse of three, Powerdizer went through three users, there are three female members of the Kamen Rider Club, etc.
** The Kamen Rider club starts out with Gentaro, Kengo and Yuki, who are not just TwoGuysAndAGirl, but [[PowerTrio fall under Superego, Id and Ego respectively.]]
* RunningGag:
** That bunch of thugs hanging out at the back of the school who attack Gentaro on sight, and fail, ''twice'' so far.
** Gentaro's constant misunderstanding of [[GratuitousEnglish English words]] (i.e. trash, knight).
** And there's also Kengo's constant reminder of the gathering that it's not a club and telling Miu she's not the president of said club...Well, until #12 that is.
** Gentaro breaking something or hitting someone with his henshin pose.
* SamusIsAGirl: Chamaleon Zodiarts was Tamae, a member of the cheerleading squad. [[spoiler: And Scorpion Zodiarts is Sonoda.]]
* ScoobyStack:
** Yuuki, Tomoko, and Shun do one while watching Gentaro transform in #2.
** The three male members of the Glee Club do this while seeing Yuki sing (And even have binoculars to observe her) in #15.
* SchoolForScheming: Gamou claims to have founded Amanogawa High to encourage kids to go into space exploration. It's really a front for him to use the students for experiments with Zodiarts Switches [[spoiler: and to unleash the power of the remaining 8 Horoscope members.]]
* SecretHandshake: Gentaro and Yuki have a little hand-jive thing that they apparently invented back in 3rd grade. Each new member of the club does this with him when they finally accept his friendship. Shun does it using the Powerdizer!
** By #15, this has expanded to pretty much anyone Gentaro has officially befriended (minus the SecretKeeper aspect)[[hottip:*: Unless you count Abe finding out about Fourze in Episode 15]].
** In #16, Gentaro does the handshake with Motoyama...who was in ''Zodiarts form'' when it was done. Then it was repeated at the end with Motoyama (Human form) and Abe on the rooftop.
** By #17, it's officially spread to several other student groups as well.
* SecretKeeper: The primary function of the Kamen Rider Club.
** Kamen Rider Meteor to, in the form of "do not tell anyone who you really are".
* ShoutOut: The Astro Switches are named after Japanese astronaut [[http://twitter.com/#!/astro_soichi Soichi Noguchi's Twitter profile]].
** Yuki pointing out the different "student groups" to Gentaro in #1 may remind some of a scene from ''MeanGirls''.
** Fourze's limbs are each marked with a different symbol: [[PlayStation Circle (right arm), X/"Cross" (right leg), Triangle (left leg), Square (left arm)]].
** Tachibana's CoolMask looks just like the ones worn by DaftPunk.
** #7-8 has a good number of these. The Hound Zodiarts is shown dangling a bundle of chains resembling the poachers' lure from ''MightyJoeYoung'', and Satake claims to be "[[LiloAndStitch the one they call in when things go wrong]]".
*** The Sunday detention class itself stands out as a straight-up {{Homage}} of ''TheBreakfastClub''. A jock, a delinquent, a creepy girl, a cute girl, and a brain are all sent to weekend detention with a Jerk teacher who picks on the delinquent from the get-go, and a key moment is when the Jock reveals through blubbering tears that he's terrified of not living up to his father's expectations. Even the [[WritingLines writing 1000 words punishment]] mirrors the 1000-word essay[[hottip:*: The 1000 words is supposed to be writing the kanji for 'Reflection' 1000 times]]. Considering the show's heavy use of english language and American high school tropes, we can probably expect to see more homages like this in the future.
** #9-10 feature [[TheCraft a trio of goth girls]] [[{{Charmed}} dabbling in witchcraft]].
** The OP includes a shot of Fourze making a FullMoonSilhouette while on a bike. [[Film/ETTheExtraTerrestrial Sound familiar?]]
** #12 has [[Film/{{Speed}} Miu trying to drive a bus that's speeding out of control towards an unfinished bridge.]]
** #14 has Shun taking [[TransformersDarkOfTheMoon the Powerdizer leaping off a wall to catch JK and Gentaro with a backflip. And it's even black and yellow!]]
** #15 has some ''FistOfTheNorthStar''-esque SceneryGorn with an entire building whacked into an angle. And the Perseus Zodiarts could be considered as one to the new ''ClashOfTheTitans''.
** #16 has some as well. The sound in the Rabbit Hatch that let Kengo know Gentaro was in danger is also the sound of the low HP bar from the Kingdom Hearts series. Not to mention Gentaro getting [[SamuraiSentaiShinkenger a brush that actually writes things in the air.]]
*** [[PercyJacksonAndTheOlympians The Pen Switch was introduced in the Perseus Zodiarts story arc.]]
* ShoutOutThemeNaming: Several supporting characters are named after Showa-era Rider heroes:
** Kengo Utahoshi: Anagram of [[Series/KamenRider Takeshi Hongo]]. His family name contains the character for "star"/"planet"
** Yuki Jojima: Joji Yuki, [[KamenRiderV3 Riderman]]
** Miu Kazashiro: [[KamenRiderV3 Shiro Kazami]]. Her GirlPosse is likewise named for minor characters from ''[=V3=]''.
** Shun Daimonji: Rearranged slightly, the name uses the same characters as [[Series/KamenRider Hayato Ichimonji]]'s [[hottip:*:The characters "一" and "人" in Ichimonji's name are combined into "大"]]. His first name can also be read as "Hayabusa" (the name of a Japanese spacecraft that was used to retrieve material from an asteroid), fitting in with the space theme of the show.
** JK: The initials of [[KamenRiderX Keisuke Jin]] (when using eastern naming order)
** Tomoko Nozama: [[KamenRiderAmazon Amazon]] spoken backwards [[hottip:*:Nozama utilizes the appropriate kanji. Also, the actual Amazon character was [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname rarely addressed by his real name]].]]
** [[spoiler: Lampshaded in the movie where they wear paper mache costumes of their namesakes. Gentaro wears [[KamenRiderStronger Stronger's]] costume by default, conveniently foreshadowing the appearance of someone named for Tackle.]]
* ShownTheirWork: Zodiarts are themed on various constellations; not merely the more popular ones such as Orion or those based on the WesternZodiac, but every Zodiarts since the premiere has used extremely obscure constellations: Chamaeleon (Chameleon), Monoceros (Unicorn), Canes Venatici (Hound), Ara (Altar), Pyxis ([[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin ...Pyxis]]), Perseus ([[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Perseus]].), and Lynx ([[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Lynx]].) The generals are called the Horoscopes, and only they are based on the WesternZodiac.
** Also [[spoiler: Sonoda was originally known as the Canis Minor Zodiarts before she became Scorpion.]]
* SignatureStyle: Yes, KoichiSakamoto has a hand in this show, and just to hammer it home we have Fourze jumping off a flying bike to kick the enemy in #2. Other elements of Sakamoto's style are present such as the wire-fu (in mild doses when compared to PowerRangers) and filming at an angle. The [[FanNickname Kalishplosions]] did not get carried over, thankfully.
* SignificantAnagram: It's eventually revealed that [[spoiler: Ms. Sonoda is Scorpio]]. Which isn't all that surprising if you know that [[spoiler: Sarina Sonoda anagrams to "sasori na no da," "I am the scorpion.")]]
* SixStudentClique: Using the gender variations, the current members of the Kamen Rider Club fit this trope as follows:
** The Head: Gentaro
** The Muscle: Shun
** The Quirk: Yuki (though she could also fit into the Smart and/or Pretty role). Tomoko also counts.
** The Pretty One: Miu
** The Smart One: Kengo
** The Wild One: JK
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The hologram produced by the belt spelled Rocket and Radar as [[GratuitousEnglish "Roket" and "Rader"]], respectively; this was fixed a few episodes in though. The different forms are named in the plural as opposed to the singular ("Base States" vs. "Base State"), and their official romanization spells them as one word, e.g. Basestates. The same goes for Zodiarts - it's singular and plural.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Once a Zodiarts Switch goes into Last One state.
* StockSoundEffects: Some characters actually have these - Gentaro GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger gets ''kabuki'' effects, Shun gets an audible BishieSparkle, and Miu gets metal-slicing to represent daggers around Yuki, whose sound is most likely a cow. Even Shun's GirlOfTheWeek in #7 gets a rather... suggestive one. And then there's Tomoko's [[HellIsThatNoise nightmare scream]] effect.
** Not only characters get this. Whenever there's a camera pan to the memorial statue for Shun in #7 and #8, we have a rimshot sound. And the power-up sound from ''the original KamenRider'' can be heard whenever Gentaro points at the club banner.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: #10. Ohsugi goes from sharing Kengo's ArbitrarySkepticism one moment to sharing Gentaro's [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes irrational fear of witchcraft]] the next.
* SuperOCD: Tomoko is in detention in #7 because she deleted every picture of a school event from the school computer because her ribbon was not symmetrical ''in one photo''.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: The Meteor Driver and Galaxy. Possibly the Fourze Driver too, if you're feeling generous, as its English doesn't seem overly accented, merely overly synthesized.
* SwissArmyHero: As usual. Fourze's forms are called "States", with his default being the "Base States". He also has a yellow Elek States and a red Fire States. Unlike Double or OOO, whose forms took all the Memories or Core Medals used into account, Fourze's State is only affected by a few Circle (right arm) Switches.
* TalentContest: Episode 3 features a contest for School Queen, in which the candidates showcase their talents and deliver a speech as to why one should vote for them.
* ThemeMusicPowerUp: Played straight (let's just put this down to [[SignatureStyle Koichi Sakamoto's influence]] and be done with it) until the introduction of Elek States and the big switch to [=EDs=] as per KR tradition.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: In a world where teenagers become monsters, you bet they need someone to talk to. The one that needs the most? Most people are going to answer Makise since he is horribly screwed up (and has his own section in the FridgeHorror page dedicated to him)
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: [[PlayingWithFire Fire]] [[MacrossMissileMassacre Launcher]] [[GatlingGood Gatling]] [[FinishingMove Limit Break!]] [[spoiler: It fails]].
* [[ThoseTwoGuys Those Two Girls]]: Miu's GirlPosse, Tamae Sakuma and Jun Shigeno.
** Until #5 anyways, where Miu spends more time in the Kamen Rider Club, Tamae has dropped off the radar and Jun only appears for BigEater gags.
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: On the 13th episode, we learn two horrible truths. One, Zodiarts Switchers get bad withdrawal problems. Two, [[spoiler: we find out who the Scorpion Zodiarts is.]]
* TigerVersusDragon: Visual example; Gentaro's new jacket has a tiger facing a dragon emblem on the back. [[spoiler:Most likely to represent the future relationship between him and Ryusei aka Kamen Rider Meteor]].
* TransformationTrinket: Fourze's belt and the Astro Switches, along with Meteor's belt and Meteor Switch.
* TransformingMecha: The Powerdizer, a lunar rover which can transform ''KamenRiderFaiz''-style mecha and combine with his motorcycle to form a launch tower.
* TwinkleInTheSky: Happens momentarily in #3 when the Hopping switch is used in battle the first time. Says it all, really.
** ''Inverted'' in #10. Yuki, upon learning that [[spoiler:Gentaro has not only brought Tomoko into the Rabbit Hatch but taken her onto the lunar surface]], kicks Gentaro so hard that he leaves the lunar surface and turns into a twinkle ''on the Earth.''
* TwoTeacherSchool: Invoked - there's only two ''named'' teachers but the others are little more than backdrop.
** #9 at least has one other teacher get lines (still unnamed though).
* UnfortunateNames: The hot dog Foodroid is named "Holwankoff".
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: The OP already shows the Kamen Rider Club strolling along as the Powerdizer follows them. And Masshiguler somehow ''[[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext rolling unaided]].'' It's shown being summoned remotely in #2, but still.
* UrbanLegend: The Kamen Riders. In Episode 2, Tomoko has apparently been collecting information on them. [[spoiler:She's shown to have videos of [[{{Series/Kamen Rider}} Rider 1]], [[{{KamenRiderSuper-1}} Super-1]], [[KamenRiderBlackRX Black RX]], and [[KamenRiderKuuga Kuuga]] fighting their respective monsters, and a news article on the destruction of Futo Tower from the ''[[KamenRiderDouble Double]]'' movie.]]
* WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld: See OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent above.
* WeaponizedExhaust: Fourze uses the Massiguler's exhaust to fight the Orion Zodiarts in #2.
* WeaponOfChoice[=/=]SwissArmyAppendage: Where previous Riders' trinkets [[ComboPlatterPowers affected their innate powerset]], Fourze's Switches instead give him an arsenal of gadgets for his limbs. '''[[color:orange:Circle]]''' Switches are used for the right arm, '''[[color:blue:Cross]]''' Switches for the right leg, '''[[color:gold:Triangle]]''' Switches for the left leg, and '''Square''' Switches for the left arm. Unlike Double and OOO, Fourze's main form does not require a specific combination of his {{Transformation Trinket}}s to assume.
->
** #1: [[color:orange:Rocket]]: Rocket-shaped PowerFist (though not strictly a RocketPunch, as it doesn't detatch). Also {{Flight}}.
** #2: [[color:blue:Launcher]]: MacrossMissileMassacre.
** #3: [[color:gold:Drill]]: ThisIsADrill.
** #4: '''Radar''': Mainly used for accuracy and {{Homing Projectile}}s by locking on to enemies; also and has a built in [[CommLinks communicator]].
** #5: [[color:orange:Magic Hand]]: TelescopingRobot. An extendable claw.
** #6: '''Camera''': MagicalSecurityCam.
** #7: '''Parachute''': PunyParachute. Deploys three at once, though.
** #8: [[color:blue:Chainsaw]]: ChainsawGood.
** #9: [[color:gold:Hopping]]: HoppingMachine InASingleBound. A pogo stick.
** #10: [[color:orange:Elek]]: [[ShockAndAwe Elek States]] with a CoolSword called Billy the Rod.
** #11: '''Scissors''': [[ImprobableWeaponUser Improbable]] BladeBelowTheShoulder.
** #12: [[color:blue:Beat]]: MakeMeWannaShout. A speaker.
** #13: [[color:orange:Chain Array]]: EpicFlail.
** #14: [[color:blue:Smoke]]: SmokeOut.
** #15: [[color:gold:Spike]]: SpikesOfDoom.
** #16: '''Winch''': GrapplingHookPistol.
** #17: [[color:orange:Flash]]: LightEmUp. A large flashlight.
** #18: '''Shield''': LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe.
** #19: [[color:gold:Gatling]]: GatlingGood.
** #20: [[color:orange:Fire]]: [[PlayingWithFire Fire States]] with a [[BifurcatedWeapon two-in-one]] FireBreathingWeapon with MakingASplash options called the Hee-Hack Gun.
** #21: [[color:blue:Stealth]]: InvisibilityCloak.
** #22: '''Hammer''': DropTheHammer.
** #23: [[color:gold:Water]]: MakingASplash. A large faucet.
** #24: '''Medical''': HealingHands. A First-Aid Kit.
** #25: [[color:blue:Pen]]: ThePenIsMightier. A calligraphy brush.
** #26: [[color:gold:Wheel]]: BurningRubber.
** #27: [[spoiler:Screw]]
** #28: [[spoiler:Hand: TelescopingRobot, again.]]
** #29: [[spoiler:Scoop: ShovelStrike.]]
** #30: [[spoiler:Magnet N: Half of [[SelectiveMagnetism Magnet States]].]]
** #31: [[spoiler:Magnet S: The other half of [[SelectiveMagnetism Magnet States]].]]
** #32: [[spoiler:Freeze: AnIcePerson.]]
** #33: [[spoiler:Claw: GiantHandsOfDoom.]]
** #34: [[spoiler:Board: CoolBoard.]]
** #35: [[spoiler:Giantfoot: ArmedLegs.]]
** #36: [[spoiler:Aero: {{Flight}}]]
** #37: [[spoiler:Gyro]]
** #38: [[spoiler:Net: InescapableNet.]]
** #39: [[spoiler:Stamper]]
** #40: [[spoiler:[[SuperMode Apollo]]]]
** [[color:orange:S-1]]: Rocket Super-1 (Double Rockets): Transforms Fourze into Rocket States, armed with [[DualWielding a rocket on each hand]], intended as an homage to {{Kamen Rider Super-1}}.
* WhamEpisode: #11: Kengo's now seemingly stuck on the moon because the Pyxis Zodiarts destroyed the locker that acts as its teleporter.
** #13. Aside from bringing back an old Zodiarts Switcher, [[spoiler: the identity of the Scorpion Zodiarts is revealed]].
* #14. [[spoiler: The Principal is revealed to be a a Zodiarts.]]
* #18. [[spoiler: Sonoda is no more as she's been cast to the Dark Nebula and Virgo Zodiarts has replaced her.]]
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotAwesome: Yuki and Gentaro's daily races to school.
** Also, Gentaro proudly proclaiming a ''50%'' as the highest score he's ever gotten.
** Many of the switches probably qualify. More specifically, we have Hopping (a pogo stick), Water (a faucet) and Pen (a calligraphy brush). The one thing they have in common? They're all ''leg'' weapons.
*** It gets better - Pen covers the whole foot but Fourze ''can'' walk normally with it, the brush bristles just go soft and end up resembling tassels, like on a '70s disco outfit.
*** And now Meteor is keeping up the whole disco theme, just watch the spinning Meteor Driver as it belts out the appropriate music.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Fourze surviving re-entry is explained with the Parachute switch - so what happens to ''Masshiguler''?
* WhatWouldXDo: #14. Kengo wonders this, of ''Gentaro of all people''.
* WhoWritesThisCrap: Miu and Shun's question to Yuki after the [[ItMakesSenseInContext the bad play to cheer Miura up fails]] in #13.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Apparently, this is Gentaro to '''cicadas'''.
* TheWorfEffect: Invoked rather early this year, as Fourze has never won a fight that the Scorpion Zodiarts is involved in. Until #12 that is, where Fourze gains the upper hand using the Fire Switch, forcing Scorpion to flee.
* WorldOfHam: Judging from the fact that this is from the man who wrote ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann,'' this should not be surprising at all!
* WritingLines: Played straight in #7 as part of detention, although Gentaro incurs the teacher's wrath and has to write the Reflection Kanji 1000 times ''[[CoolAndUnusualPunishment in calligraphy brush]]'' while everyone else gets pencils.
* YouCantThwartStageOne: Rather like TheWorfEffect above, Fourze hasn't been able to bring down a Zodiarts that hasn't reached Last One stage already.
** The closest he's ever gotten was almost putting the finishing blow on Hound Zodiarts in #7. He could've gone into limit break had Shun not come in and chucked a football at his head.
* YouHaveFailedMe: After [[spoiler:Scorpio]] gets beaten for the second time, the BigBad decides to have one of his mooks ''make a black hole and have [[spoiler:Scorpio]] get sucked into it!''
* ZanyScheme: In #3, Gentaro tries to get someone to beat Miu at the school's BeautyPageant for once, staking her friendship on his victory. Though they do go the obvious route of forcing an unwilling Yuki into the role, the show does avoid having her be the first choice and matters are complicated when that episode's Zodiarts attacks every other girl in the contest.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Most schoolgirls are about grade B in their uniforms, with Tomoko the only aversion for having her skirt too long to qualify.
** The cheerleading uniforms also have Grade E.
