* InsultBackfire: Harvard posts a video of Brody singing on the toilet onto YouTube in an attempt to humiliate him, but the video becomes a viral hit with loads of positive comments.

* DrunkWithPower: Harvard puts himself in charge of the building support staff when Jenny temporarily becomes Mansfield's assistant. He immediately launches into a version of the famous GlengarryGlenRoss speech using Pop Tarts as an incentive. He's HoistByHisOwnPetard soon enough, though, as everyone walks out as he's talking (taking the Pop Tarts with them) leaving him to deal with 'New Phone Day' on his own. He ends up accidentally locking himself in a cage.

* CliffhangerEnding: The show was canceled before the main plot thread could be resolved.

* AmbiguouslyNerdy: People assume Threepeat is Chinese, but he's actually Filipino[[note]]The Philippines does have a sizable ethnic Chinese population[[/note]].

* AsianAndNerdy: Threepeat is perpetually dateless and spends his alone time watching ''Star Trek''. He once attempted to impress Mansfield by performing the Riker Maneuver and painfully failing.
* TheCastShowOff: Skylar Astin frequently gets to show off his singing skills almost (but not quite) to the point of OnceAnEpisode.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: At the end of season one, Threepeat moved in with Harvard. This has yet to come up in season two.

* CastTheExpert: When you realize that [[FridgeLogic they would need someone who can sing flawlessly to play Heather]], or else the "pitchy" gag wouldn't work. Out of all the 25-to-35-year-old actresses that wanted to play the part, were known to the target audience, and can sing really well, they picked Anna Camp.

* IronyAsSheIsCast: Jenny doesn't like musicals but is played by Briga Heelan who has a background in musical theatre.

* ProductionPosse: Several of the cast have been involved in other Bill Lawrence-produced shows.
** An unusual example with Briga Heelan. She was cast in both ''Series/{{Undateable}}'' and ''Ground Floor'' when they were in pre-production but chose to stick with ''Ground Floor'' while her role in ''Undateable'' was recast. Then production hiccups led to ''Undateable'' being delayed and the producing teams of the two shows both wanted Heelan badly enough that they worked out a scheduling agreement that allowed her to return to ''Undateable'' and take on the role of Nicki on a recurring basis. Both of these shows are executive produced by Bill Lawrence.
** Then, of course, there's John C. [=McGinley=], who famously starred as Dr. Cox on ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'' and now stars as Mr. Mansfield on ''Ground Floor''.
** Rory Scovel made an appearance on ''Series/{{Undateable}}'' as an annoying neighbor the gang goes to war against.

* TypeCasting:
** Heather ''is'' Aubrey in a few years' time.
** Mansfield is Dr. Cox as a businessman.
** Stacie becomes Tori - the "sexy coworker".

* ActorAllusion: A sick Mansfield refuses to go to the hospital because:

* SinkOrSwimMentor=/=TricksterMentor: Mansfield holds himself to extremely high standards and simply expects his employees to be able to keep up without any instruction. He also loves to play mind games to keep his employees competitive and constantly questioning themselves.
