Three reunion TV movies followed, first rescuing, then re-stranding, then re-rescuing the castaways, who then turned the island into a resort. Two cartoon series, a stage musical, and a {{docudrama}} about the show's creation were also produced. In the strangest twist, though, 2004 saw ''Gilligan's Island'' become the first (and maybe only) SitCom ever revived as a RealityShow, with the broadcast of ''The Real Gilligan's Island'' on Creator/{{TBS}}... a show which combined the original series with ''Series/{{Survivor}}'' in a bizarre blend.

** In season one, episode eight, ("[[Recap/GilligansIslandS1E8GoodbyeIsland Goodbye Island]]"), the Minnow is re-caulked with a glue-like substance Gilligan discovers while attempting to make maple syrup. While the hold is indeed like iron, it's only temporary, and right before launch, the entire Minnow falls apart. Even the keel collapses, so the Minnow is gone for good after that.

Three reunion TV movies followed, first rescuing, then re-stranding, then re-rescuing the castaways, who then turned the island into a resort. Two cartoon series, a stage musical, and a {{docudrama}} about the show’s creation were also produced. In the strangest twist, though, 2004 saw ''Gilligan's Island'' become the first (and maybe only) SitCom ever revived as a RealityShow, with the broadcast of ''The Real Gilligan's Island'' on Creator/{{TBS}}...a show which combined the original series with ''Series/{{Survivor}}'' in a bizarre blend.

Some of the cast reportedly disliked the show. The actress that portrayed Ginger (the movie star), Creator/TinaLouise, refused to do either the cartoons or the {{reunion|Show}} movies because she considered the show "silly" and the concept ridiculous while also resenting that she'd ended up being typecast. (She had, according to Creator/DawnWells, also been lied to by the producers who had told her that the show was about a movie star stranded on a desert island and that Ginger was the central character.) Ironically, with the death of Dawn "Mary Ann" Wells on December 30, 2020, Tina Louise is the last surviving member of the cast.

** Subverted in the case of Erika Tiffany-Smith, played by Zsa-Zsa Gabor. Upon returning to civilization, she explained about the island and the Castaways, but could not offer the exact longitude nor latitude, plus her diary was written in Hungarian which no one in the Navy could read. The sailor who brought her could have told people, but creator Sherwood Schwartz stated that he "suffered a major coronary and died."

Mary Ann has multiple outfits, but also not that many, and wears the same handful of outfits multiple times over the seres' run.
