* ArtisticLicenseSpace: During the watch party for the Apollo 15 landing, Wayne goes outside and looks up at a nearly-full moon. This is most likely mid-to-late afternoon, since it's 6:00 when Karen brings the party to a close. However, when the moon is full, it's on the opposite side of the earth from the sun, and therefore only visible at night.

Apollo re-entry speed was app. 25,000MPH vs the 17,500 for the typical shuttle return from LEO, however the shuttle has multiple ways it could reduce it's re-entry speed, and that's assuming it used the same return trajectory as the Apollo and that it was not adjusted to have the craft return at a slower speed.

** The space shuttles-- both American and Soviet-- are show flying to the moon after refueling in Earth orbit. However, even if you replaced the space shuttle orbiter's entire payload with extra fuel, you still wouldn't have anywhere near enough to reach the moon. [[note]] Whilst it's implied that they carry the external tank into orbit, refuel and then depart for the Moon, it still has the issue of the shuttle's thermal tiles not being strong enough against lunar reentry speeds.[[/note]]

* ArtisticLicensePhysics: One cosmonaut burns up inside his own space suit after being shot on the moon, this was stated to be because the bullet caused a spark inside the suit that ignited the pure oxygen atmosphere inside, a-la Apollo 1. There are a number of problems with this; First, oxygen is an oxidiser, not a fuel. On its own, it can't burn, it can only facilitate the burning of a fuel source. Given the known and obvious hazards of pure oxygen, space suits are designed to not be flammable, and their occupants don't make for very good fuel as humans are around 70% water. Second, whilst the suit had a pure oxygen atmosphere, it would have been at a low pressure (American suits in real life operate at 3 PSI pure oxygen, so as to replicate the partial pressure of oxygen in the atmosphere at sea level with no other gasses present). The suit would inflate like a balloon and be impossible to move in if it was inflated to a higher pressure. Third, there was a hole in the suit and the oxygen was leaking out. Suffice to say, burning alive in your own space suit is an extremely unlikely outcome to being shot on the moon.

* FictionalCounterpart: Subverted. Whilst NASA is still referred to as NASA/National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the meatball and worm logos differ; in the meatball's case, the red vector is facing left whilst being partially obscured by the blue circle with a different arrangement of stars, whilst the worm has a cutoff line at the bottom of the "A"s making them look like incomplete triangles. [[SpecialEffectsFailure however, the OTL logo and worm are still present in several scenes.]]

** An important subplot in season 4 is that the Helios workers on Mars have a hidden alcohol still and have even built themselves a bar in an unfinished section of the base. When Ed discovers the bar, he suprises the workers by not only not shutting it but instead sitting down and ordering a drink. He explains that every base or ship he served on had a still hidden somewhere on the premises. Over the years he has developed a talent for finding them whenever he gets angry enough that he wants a drink even though it is against the rules.

** When [[spoiler: Grigory Kuznetsov ]]on a space walk is trapped by debris, Ed tries to organize a rescue but the cosmonaut calls it off. His suit is punctured and he cannot seal the leak. Mathematically he is dead already. By the time rescuers would get to him, he would be be long out of oxygen and beyond revival. A rescue/retrival attempt would only put the others in danger so they have to leave [[spoiler:Grigory ]]behind while he breaths his last few minutes of oxygen.
