* BechdelTest: Deconstructed according to some reviewers. Elena talks to women in the show quite often, but never about anything important. Instead, the conversations relating to the life and death struggles of the Pack are uniformly with men. Justified in season one, as Elena is the only female werewolf and it's a death sentence for any human to learn about their world. Passed in season two as some female witches come on the scene and they have other things to discuss.

** The wolves had a hard time trusting the witches, and were often rude to them. Usually a side effect of having people break into their houses several times, using magic to literally blind them, and repeatedly lift them up in the air as an intimidation tactic.

* RealityEnsues: Dating a supernatural creature without knowing about their true nature doesn't work out well. Both Phillip and Rachel had bad reactions once they learned about Logan and Elena (especially since they found out in the worst ways possible). Also, Phillip's relationship with Elena led to his death, while Rachel ended things with Logan after being kidnapped.
** Elena's fight with Alastair [[CurbStompBattle went only one way]]. This is what happens when someone who depends solely on their powers to fight loses them before facing a martial artist.
** Similarily, before she is able to finally kill him, Elena's fight against Malcolm was mostly her being wailed on. A realistic version of what happens when a woman goes up against someone much bigger and stronger than she is, and who isn't holding back in a fight.

** The usual DoubleStandard is subverted multiple times. Notably there are two separate scenes of Nick very happily performing oral sex on a woman. The very first introduction of his character even shows him in the middle of a threesome. While AThreesomeIsHot, it's a guy-girl-guy threesome rather than the two-girls-and-a-guy version usually shown.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: This is how werewolf society is supposed to work. It is played with because Jeremy isn't the strongest werewolf in the Pack. Clay is generally considered the stronger of the two but Jeremy has a lifetime of fighting experience so a fight between them might go either way. Since the Pack is able to work as a team, they can deliver way more asskicking than any of the individualistic Mutts and thus Jeremy and the Pack essentially rule werewolf society.
