''Big Time Rush'' is a {{Creator/Nickelodeon}} SitCom about a boy band created by Scott Fellows (You know? [[HeAlsoDid The dude behind]] ''Series/NedsDeclassifiedSchoolSurvivalGuide'', ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyTest'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Supernoobs}}''). The show debuted in November 2009 and ended on July 25, 2013.

Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan are four hockey players from small-town Minnesota. James dreams of becoming a pop star, so when Gustavo Rocque (Creator/StephenKramerGlickman), the ridiculously stuck-up producer for Rocque Records, comes to their town looking for talent, he gets all of his friends to audition with him. Unfortunately, Gustavo hates him but loves Kendall, who doesn't do the whole rich and famous act. In the end, he agrees to record some demos in Los Angeles as long as Rocque takes his friends, too, and makes them a singing group. They find out they only have three days to become a passable band, and HilarityEnsues.

The four eventually manage to succeed and the series chronicles the group's rise to stardom as they move to L.A. (along with Kendall's mother and little sister) and do their best to keep the band and their new careers alive through the workings of a demanding and, at times, controlling industry while likewise getting into silly shenanigans. The show's sense of comedy is so over-the-top at times that it seems to resemble a real-life cartoon down to using a slew of classic cartoon tropes.

It ran a respectable four seasons along with a MadeForTVMovie aptly titled ''Big Time Movie'' where the band tours England and, in the process, foils a plot to take over the world. The series finale aired in July 2013 in the U.S. with the one-hour episode, "Big Time Dreams".

* UnexpectedKindness: In "Green Time Rush", the band's class is split into several groups for an Earth Day project. SmartGuy Logan gets paired with the large, aggressive, and BookDumb Ozzie. He's against every project Logan pitches and refuses to help with it. He intimidates Logan... until Logan catches him remaking the model after it gets damaged, and then admitting that he's not very good with school and doesn't think he can do anything to help with the project. Seeing this, Logan asks their teacher for an extension so they can work on it as partners.

* AsHimself: A lot of their guest stars play as themselves, notably Creator/RussellBrand, Creator/MirandaCosgrove, Music/SnoopDogg, Jordin Sparks, Ed Begley Jr., Nicole Scherzinger, and even Fabio Lanzoni.

* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Guitar Dude and Freight Train disappear from the series after Season 2. The Jennifers were also absent for a chunk of Seasons 3 and 4 before coming back in the GrandFinale, with Jennifer 1 somehow absent.

** In "Big Time Dreams" Logan lists off the odd things that happened to them the last time they had full hour specials.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Many, ''many'' times.

* {{Wimpification}}: In the majority of fics, Logan is frantic, uptight, and skeptic with [[OnlySaneMan good]] [[TheSmartGuy reason]], but typically he's portrayed as a whiny wimp who reluctantly gives in (sometimes very reluctantly). The others are susceptible to this as well. There's a sorting algorithm of dominance which almost directly correlates to height; Kendall tops James tops Carlos tops Logan (results may vary). Kendall can even retain some of his natural seme qualities while biting pillows.

* CatFight: A male example, as seen between Carlos and Logan. Let's just say the [[YaoiFangirl fans]] [[HoYay rejoiced]] at the [[{{Wimpification}} implications]].

** Pretty much the entire "Big Time Single" episode, where, after Kendall's girlfriend [[spoiler: moves to New Zealand]], the other three guys get girlfriends just so they can get dumped, feel Kendall's pain, and be able to empathize with him. Made better by the fact that James and Carlos are so distraught by their break ups that Logan ''and'' still-upset Kendall must help pull them back together.

** Logan and Camille have this at some points after their break up. Didn't help that it was an on/off relationship.
** [[spoiler: It resolves again in the first episode of season 4.]]

** There's also the jab on gurus Kelly makes in "Big Time Guru". She states that they were rock 'n roll poison and mentions how bands break up[[note]]Directly referring to both Music/TheBeachBoys and Franchise/TheBeatles[[/note]] once they "latch onto spiritual guidance and go to Tibet."

** Erin Sanders portrays Camille, an eccentric and over-eager young lady who tends to go overboard on a regular basis, not unlike [[{{Series/Zoey101}} Quinn Pensky]].
