* BewareTheNiceOnes: Irene is a sweet and kind girl to everyone around her. She also knows how to be dangerous when people irritate her too much.
** In episode 173, a classmate insults Irene as a fat girl and makes fun of her eating all the time. Irene tells the woman to leave her alone, otherwise she will throw a plate of food at her face.
** In episode 183, Irene suspects that Luis will leave her and go back to dating Tamara. Irene yells at Luis, insults Tamara as "insipid blonde", and tries to expel Luis from her home by giving him a strong push.

* GracefulLoser: Subverted. When Luis makes it clear to Tamara that he truly loves Irene and doesn't feel anything for Tamara anymore,, Tamara seems to accept this stoically and wishes Irene and Luis all the happiness, going so far as to hug and kiss them. Two episodes later, in the series finale, Tamara is on a date with her new boyfriend, complaining about Luis leaving her for a fat woman.

She is reported to the immigration service and deported back to Mexico. Together, these four women will have the most turbulent year of their lives.
