* Every day, a young man with an eyepatch and a shamisen named Kubo wanders into part of the Narrative House and tells a story for anyone to hear. Sometimes, he talks about his father Hanzo's exploits against the Moon King. Other times, he speaks of his own perilous quest to defeat the same guy with three relics. Regardless, many people regardless of age take a great liking to his brand of storytelling, accompanied by music from his shamisen and a collection of origami figurines that come to life when he plays.
* When he isn't telling stories, he comes over to the Pantheon/LifeAndDeath House to give the souls of his parents a visit. If the need arises, however, they can return to his aid as Monkey and Beetle.
* One day, he heard someone call Monkey's name. Confused, he saw that there was another character named Monkey. Despite their differences in culture, the Furious Five and Kubo have become fast friends.
** Similarly, when he saw that there was another person named Hanzo, he was struck by how similar he was to his father.
* Kubo and Simba have bonded over the losses of their parents and subsequent encounters with them from beyond the grave.
* Jack has taken a liking to the young storyteller for his similar upbringing as a samurai's child and his conflicts with godlike beings. Ashi also likes him because she went through the same trials and tribulations as his mother. Aku, in contrast, absolutely despises the foolish samurai child for the exact same reasons.
* Kubo is in awe of Link due to having several lifetimes of heroic exploits to speak of, not to mention having the same fighting style as his father.
* Yomiko is very impressed over how he can make intricate origami do his bidding with the help of music. The two of them exchange information often.
* The Storyteller and Kubo also meet together frequently to exchange stories. While the Storyteller has much more stories to tell than he does, Kubo appreciates the lessons he learns from said stories.
* Since he's one of the more potent musicians in the Pantheon, Melkor has kept a wary eye on the young lad, especially since he managed to defeat his grandfather, the god of the moon, with the power of music alone.
* All of Kubo's hardships had to do with the god of the moon, Raiden, and his daughters. As a result, he's very distrustful of anyone having to do with the moon.
** While Voldemort is not related to the moon at all, he reminds him of his grandfather [[Creator/RalphFiennes in another way]].
** Even though the Pantheon's Raiden is not the god of the moon, this lack of trust extends to him as well.
** As for Magikarp, when it evolves, it looks disturbingly similar to the dragon form Raiden used to try to kill him.
* Since his eye was cut out when he was a baby, he tends to feel sorry for anyone who has only one eye or is blind, regardless of morality.
