Creator/{{Microsoft}}, Creator/{{Sony}}, and Creator/{{Nintendo}} are the currently the Big Three of console makers. However, in March 1999, when Microsoft's console was in its early stages and Creator/{{Sega}} was still in the console industry, a man named John Gildred wanted to change that. After a game of ''VideoGame/{{Quake}}'', he wanted to make a console that allowed anyone to make games for it[[note]]The idea was conceptualized in the mid 1990s, but didn't come to fruition until 1999 due to technological limitations[[/note]]. He, along with a team, founded [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indrema Indrema]], wanting to make a wave in the console industry by making a Platform/{{Linux}}-based machine that could do it all; it would be a game system, Platform/MP3 player, DVR, DVD player, CD player, and internet device. They called it the L600 (a.k.a. The Indrema Entertainment System) and officially founded Indrema in January of 2000. However, in April of 2001, Indrema couldn't raise capital and shut down... but [[WhatIf what if Indrema was successfully funded to get their console on the market?]]

''TBA''
!!''[REVAMPED]'' provides examples of:
* AdaptationalNameChange:
** The Indrema Entertainment System/L600 is called the [=LSeries=] ITTL.
** Although the Linux distro made for Indrema's consoles, DV Linux keeps its OTL name initially, it rebrands to [=IndremaOS=].
** The L600's UI went without a brand name IOTL. ITTL, it's called the "Launchpad", similar to Xbox's "Dashboard".
* AwesomeButImpractical: The GPU Slide Bay, which lets you switch out the GPU on an Indrema console with a new one not unlike the PC. No need to get another console, you can just upgrade! Although this sounds cool, developers loathe the concept because they feel that they're developing for a PC rather than a console, so the feature gets scrapped on both the [=LSeries=] and Nova for an integrated GPU not unlike its competitors, much to the relief of developers.
* DifferentWorldDifferentMovies:
** Nintendo announces a new animated {{Crossover}} series called ''Mario's World'' inspired by the success of ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries''.
*** Nintendo also makes an animated Mario movie earlier, with ''Mario's World Presents: Mario and Luigi's Superstar Saga'', based on [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga the similarly named game]], taking cues from OTL's [[WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie 2023 Illumination film]], made through a contract with Creator/WarnerBros
** Creator/TheBrothersChaps sign a deal with Creator/CartoonNetwork to bring ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'' to television. IOTL, The Brothers Chaps rejected the offer for a Homestar Runner TV show on many different networks because they feared executives would interfere with it.
*** CN also airs shows based on Indrema's franchises, including ''The Book of Aeri'' and ''Agua'', with the latter's pilot being a movie by Creator/WarnerBros (due to Indrema partnering with [=TimeWarner=]) and Creator/AmblinEntertainment.
*** Starting in 2003, Cartoon Network has a block serving as the middle ground between Creator/AdultSwim and Cartoon Network, known as Shallow End (playing off the pool-related Adult Swim), featuring ''The Homestar Runner Progrum'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}''.
* AprilFoolsDay: In 2024, a post claimed that Creator/{{Microsoft}} had acquired Indrema in 2006, merging it and its hardware and franchises with the Xbox brand, discontinuing the [=IndremaGO=] and halting the Indrema Nova (then known as the L2), and announcing a ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' and ''The Book of Aeri'' {{Crossover}} video game all in the form a press release.
* FollowTheLeader: In-universe:
** Because Indrema made a scene promoting indie games, Microsoft has decided to copy them, creating the "Xindies" brand of indie games, as an effort to get indie developers on the Windows and Xbox platform. Indrema also takes cues from Microsoft with the Nova, including the faceplates and the vertical design. Unlike MS's, the Nova has both front and back faceplates which are held by magnets instead of clips.
** In 2004, Creator/NickAtNite shuts down (much to the chagrin of MoralGuardians) and moves its content to Creator/TVLand for a new block called The Forbidden Zone, which is meant compete with Adult Swim with shows based Creator/{{Sega}}'s more mature IP and Creator/{{Viacom}}'s adult-oriented cartoons.
* HistoricalBadassUpgrade:
** IOTL, Indrema was a small, obscure company whose console was never released and got defunct by 2001. ITTL, Indrema survives mostly due to major companies like Intel investing in the company to stay afloat. They also make more consoles, such as the [=IndremaGO=][[note]]a handheld developed by Indrema and Danger (creators of the T-Mobile Sidekick/Danger Hiptop)[[/note]] and Indrema Nova[[note]]a seventh-generation game console[[/note]]. They also have some of their own franchises (all TL-exclusive) including ''The Book of Aeri'', ''Railpunchers'' and ''Astro Armadillo".
* InSpiteOfANail:
** ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' still runs after the [[WesternAnimation/TheSpongeBobSquarePantsMovie movie]].
** Although the original Xbox has an AMD CPU instead of a Intel one because Bill Gates never made the deal (ITTL, Indrema already had Intel), the Platform/PlayStation2 and Platform/NintendoGameCube are the same as OTL. Same goes for the Platform/Xbox360, Platform/PlayStation3, and Platform/{{Wii}}[[note]]spec-wise, while the Wii uses the [[https://code.google.com/archive/p/es-operating-system/ Nintendo ES operating system]] that the Platform/NintendoDS uses ITTL[[/note]] for the next generation, and handheldwise, the Platform/PlayStationPortable and DS.
*** In fact, the [=PS2=] is still the best-selling console like it is in our world.
** The Platform/NGage is still a commercial failure, getting beat up by the PSP, DS, Creator/{{Apple}} [=GamePod=], and [=IndremaGO!=]
* PointOfDivergence: The POD of this timeline is when Indrema opens earlier and gets funded by major companies like Red Hat[[labelnote:*]]a developer of open source software, which Indrema had also worked with IOTL, but didn't fund Indrema[[/labelnote]] and Intel invest in Indrema, successfully funding the company so they can produce and market their console.
* VideoGameMoviesSuck: Averted InUniverse. Both ''Mario's World Presents: Mario and Luigi's Superstar Saga'' and ''Indrema's The Book of Aeri'' are box-office successes and actually good films.
