* ArcWords: ''My fate is my own, my heart remains free; Not magic but wisdom reveals destiny'' is a verse first heard by Bea when Marcel tries to break out of Lord Alwyn's spell. Marcel later relearns it after being reunited with his book of magic, and uses it to think past the magic in the Book of Lies and reveal the nature of Mortregis as a metaphor for the royal cousin's bid for the throne. In ''Master of the Books'', Marcel focuses on the latter half of the verse, as he struggles to control his magic. Finally, in ''The Book from Baden Dark'', Marcel focuses on the first half as he struggles with his destiny as the guardian of Arminsel.
* ArtifactOfDoom: The Book of Lies is meant to separate lies from truth. However, the book begins to condone ExactWords lies, its highlights glowing a brighter gold than when telling the truth. While revealing the truth behind Mortregis, Marcel feels a cruel pleasure radiating from the book.
