\n[[folder:Gay Icon Shout Out]]\n[[folder:New Year's Kiss]]
LACONIC: A CampGay or AmbiguouslyGay character fancies On New Year's Eve, couples have to kiss at the stroke of midnight.

It's [[NewYearHasCome New Year's Eve]]! Once the clock strikes twelve, everybody's going to celebrate, and some people want to celebrate by sharing
a celebrity popular kiss with someone special. In many works (primarily in the gay community.
West), locking lips at midnight isn't just a possibility, but a necessary tradition, and characters will spend their entire New Year's preparing for that romantic moment.

[[kissingmatters.com/origin-of-new-year-kiss/ Some date the New Year's kiss back]] to the Festival of Saturnalia in ancient Rome, where Romans honoring the god Saturn would throw parties during late December full of debauchery - including kisses. The kiss as a tradition, however, dates back to English and German masquerade balls thrown to celebrate the new year, where removing your mask for a kiss symbolized purity. It's often said that the New Year's kiss secures good tidings for a relationship in the coming year, and failing to secure this kiss may bring bad luck. While some works use this to provide stakes for an established relationship, it's just as common for characters to frantically grab the nearest person during the last few seconds of the countdown, just so they can have a kiss ''period.'' This can be a good setup for a MeetCute or a ShipTease. Of course, there's no guarantee the closest person for a New Year's kiss won't be your AbhorrentAdmirer or somebody just as unpleasant.

Compare UnderTheMistletoe, another holiday kiss tradition.

LACONIC: An LGBT character convinces another LGBT character to come out, usually to make a SecretRelationship public.

[[ComingOutStory Coming out of the closet]] is one of the hardest things for a gay/lesbian, bisexual/pansexual, or transgender person to do. LGBT characters will often be reluctant to reveal their sexual or gender identity [[OutOfTheClosetIntoTheFire lest it put them in danger of rejection or violence.]] Their loved ones, however, may disapprove of this constant secrecy. They don't want to [[ForcedOutOfTheCloset out them without permission,]] but they will repeatedly insist the character stop hiding who they are.

The most common setup is that the characters are in a SecretRelationship, and the closeted person's significant other will insist that their partner finally tell the truth about who they are. It may also be that one character is openly LGBT and feels alone in their society, and would like the other character to come out and show solidarity. While the character coaxing an LGBT character to come out is usually depicted as sympathetic (and indeed, the latter character usually does come out by the end) this trope is very controversial in the LGBT community, since it often comes across as guilt tripping a character who is reasonably nervous to take such a risk.

There's some media that you don't just like because it's good, but because it connects with you on a personal level. The writers seem to have done their work (or drawn off their own experience) to craft a character who not only shares your background, but seems like a character as opposed to just a stereotype. This is the place to gush about the strong female characters, characters of color, LGBT characters, fat characters, and even characters part of niche subcultures, that finally made you feel ''seen.'' Maybe by boosting these shows, you'll introduce somebody to a character they'll love as well!

Unlike the more straightforward TokenMinority, TwoferTokenMinority seems to attract examples that just list a character being a member of multiple minority groups, regardless of whether they're important to the story. The trope description seems to suggest this is when the character is both the ''only'' member of X group and the ''only'' member of Y group (plus any other applicable token groups), but many examples just say "Bob is X and Y" even though other examples feature characters who are X and/or characters who are Y.

Wick check, split up by usage:

[[AC:Character is only member of X and only member of Y]]

* Series.StarTrekTheOriginalSeries (Nyota Uhura's entry describes her as such for being a black woman; she's the most prominent female character and black character, and the entry does explain how her being a black woman was FairForItsDay)
* Characters.MalcolmInTheMiddle (appears to be most prominent black character and only disabled character, and lampshades this in-universe)
* MultinationalTeam.ComicBooks (discusses how some comic book characters belong to different minority groups at once; context of the entry suggests they are the ''only'' members of said groups)
* Characters.BaitAndSwitchSTO (Australian Aborigine + TokenHuman

[[AC:Character is only member of X but not the only member of Y]]
* Film.EvenDwarfsStartedSmall (Cast full of dwarfs, but at least one of them is blind - there's grammar issues that make it confusing whether it's one dwarf or several, but the writeup suggests the context of "not a token for X but is a token for Y")
* Series.{{Scorpion}} (Asian-American woman but not the only female character; the entry also directs to an AmbiguouslyBrown entry for a character whose race isn't clear enough to decide where it goes here)

* Characters.TheMoodys (South-Asian + homosexual)
* Series.TheCarrieDiaries (Black + British)
* Characters.CommunityTheStudyGroup (African American + Jehovah's Witness)
* Creator.JAugustRichards (Black + Latino + gay - note that the trope is NRLEP so this entry isn't allowed anyway)

[[AC:Uncertain of context / Unsorted]]
* Series.CatfishTheTVShow (Pothole in a Jerkass entry)
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot.WebOriginal (Grete Ravenhallow example, which potholes the trope but isn't clear if it refers to her fantasy races or something else)

[[folder:Pop Tarts]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crazygood.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''CRAZY GOOD!'']]

Pop Tarts are a brand of toaster pastries from Kellogg's that first emerged in 1964. The main appeal of Pop Tarts is the ability to heat the pastries quickly and conveniently in a toaster, a feature prominently advertised in the first Pop Tart commercials, starring an [[AnimateInanimateObject anthropomorphic toaster]] named Milton. Since then, Pop Tarts have become quite popular, and gone through several commercials that show off the efficiency of eating Pop Tarts toasted, untoasted, or even frozen.

Their most successful advertising campaign, "Crazy Good," began in 2004 as a result of [[https://web.archive.org/web/20120330230548/http://www.consumer-knowledge.com/pdf/Pop_Tarts_2007_Ogilvy_Case_Study.pdf an effort to revitalize the Pop Tarts brand by focusing more on children]]. The Pop Tarts marketing team held workshops in schools where they collected children's artistic renditions of a "Pop Tart kid world," which appeared to be an inventive, cartoonish world where Pop Tarts had individual personalities. There are two kinds of characters featured in the "Crazy Good" advertisements: the [[LetsMeetTheMeat anthropomorphic Pop Tarts,]] and the ravenously hungry "Crazy Good Kids." Most of the ads have the Pop Tarts characters get eaten one way or another - usually by the kids, but occasionally by an animal or even [[ImAHumanitarian each other]]. Other characters pop up in the ads as well, but the most prominent one is the singing lizard who first appeared in the "Poptartica" commercial.

!!Crazy Good Tropes:

* AnimateInanimateObject:
** Their first mascot was a friendly talking toaster named Milton.
** A series of 1996 commercials featured a talking CGI toaster (presumably different from Milton) voiced by Creator/GilbertGottfried, demanding more appreciation for making Pop-Tarts hot. It's implied in another commercial that the talking got the toaster sent to a repair shop.
-->'''Toaster:''' "Toaster makes funny noises?" ''What?!'' I'm just telling people what makes Kellogg's Pop Tarts good!
* BlackComedy: The main joke of the "Crazy Good" commercials is seeing Pop Tarts get eaten. One commercial has a ''baby Pop Tart'' get eaten shortly after his birth.
* ChameleonCamouflage: During the "Hide 'n' Seek" campaign, the Splitz tart hides by standing against the door and wall of a nearby shop, which blend in with both his halves. Unfortunately, he gets snapped down the middle when somebody opens the door.
* DwindlingParty: In one Christmas-themed ad, a group of tarts going caroling door-to-door. After each house, one tart is missing from the group, implying they've been eaten by the homeowner, until only a single tart is left, nervously singing "Silent Night." Then the owner invites the last tart inside her house...
* GratuitousJapanese: The "Ninja" commercial had the ninja tart speak snippets of Japanese.
* {{Groupie}}: A fangirl Pop-Tart approaches what she believes is her favorite band's tour bus. The lizard directs her to stand on top to meet them. In reality, it's a toaster.
-->'''Lizard:''' Groupies are easy.
* HopeSpot: One commercial had a Pop Tart pop himself out of the microwave and briefly enjoy freedom...before flying right into the freezer.
* LetsMeetTheMeat: The "I Want to Live!" variant frequently occurs in the "Crazy Good" commercials, where the large anthropomorphic Pop Tarts desperately try to escape the hungry kids.
* LoopholeAbuse: One commercial features a "Two Flavors" figure skating competition. It's intended for two tarts of different flavors to join, but the Splitz tart joins on his own and wins because he is technically two flavors.
* NoPartyLikeADonnerParty: One ad has two Pop Tarts starving in a freezer, trying to figure out what to eat. One tart eyes the other, then it cuts to only one tart in the freezer with a BalloonBelly.
* RecycledScript: One commercial, where the lizard tricks a strawberry Pop Tart into hiding in a toaster, is identical to a previous commercial. The only difference is that the previous commercial featured a cinnamon bun flavored tart.
* SignsOfDisrepair: The "Pop the Vote" ad started as a "MEET THE CANDIDATES" debate between various Pop Tarts. Once the moderator (the pink poodle) sends the candidates into a toaster beneath the stage, the "M" on the sign flickers our, so it reads, "EET THE CANDIDATES."
* {{Slogans}}:
** During UsefulNotes/TheNineties, commercials used variants of "So hot, they're cool; so cool, they're hot!" Often this was sung as a {{jingle}}.
** The post-2004 animated commercials use "Crazy good!" as the slogan.
* TongueOnTheFlagpole: Exploited when a strawberry milkshake Pop Tart sees the North Pole, clumsily edited to say "Lick This Pole," and licks it. This traps the tart in the snow, so a nearby girl can eat it frozen.
* TooDumbToLive: The "Cinnamon Buns Are Easy" commercial (later redone with a strawberry tart) features a Pop Tart desperately looking for a hiding place away from the kids. The lizard directs the tart to hide in a ''giant toaster''. The tart jumps in, and once the kids are gone, the lizard activates the toaster to cook the tart.
-->'''Lizard:''' ''Too easy.''
* YodelLand: The apple strudel Pop Tart speaks with a German accent, wears lederhosen, and is so obsessed with yodeling, [[spoiler:the Crazy Good Kids yodeling easily lures him out of his hiding place]].

[[folder:Pop Tarts]]

* BlackComedy: The main joke of the "Crazy Good" commercials is seeing Pop Tarts get killed. One commercial has a ''baby Pop Tart'' get eaten shortly after his birth.
* LetsMeetTheMeat: The "I Want to Live!" variant frequently occurs in the "Crazy Good" commercials, where the Pop Tarts desperately try to escape the hungry kids.
