** In his review for "Recap/StarTrekS2E6TheDoomsdayMachine", he states that he understands why some don't like the new effects and prefer the originals, but in his opinion (and that is the name of the show, after all), they're generally an improvement. Especially in the case of "The Doomsday Machine," the new effects elevate an already-solid story into something truly excellent. The original episode was tightly paced, well-acted, with a taut and suspenseful story. It's only weakness was the [=60s=]-era special effects, a weakness which has been addressed by the new CGI shots.

** He spends the first quarter of the review of "The Pirates of Orion" discussing where the odd pronunciation of "Orion" in the episode came from (for unknown reasons they used the non-English pronunciation "OR-ee-un" instead of the standard English "or-EYE-un"), with a callback to the "niche" conundrum mentioned above.

* IdiosyncraticRatingsScale: Chuck rates Franchise/StarTrek episodes on a 1-10 scale, with ratings relative to the series quality as a whole: an average-quality episode gets a 5, and he considers a DS9 5 a solid episode whereas a VOY 5 is generic schlock. He has not done this to date with Series/StarTrekDiscovery, however, since the show is still airing. Other shows' episodes get ratings varying from "Must See" (MythArc episodes get this, even if mediocre) to "Strongly Recommended", "Recommended", "Fine", "Watchable", and "Skip".

** During the WesternAnimation/LegendOfKorra review, Chuck made a point of refusing to use "Zutara" because he hates combining the names of characters in general. Well, during the exact same video, he illustrates his level of engagement with the character of Mako, by calling him "Commander Makotay." Nicely played. He also did it in another review when Janeway created "Kes-kotay," but this one is less hypocritical, as fused-name entities ("Tuvix") had previously appeared in Voyager.
