* NightmareFetishist: Anna Chase. She is a complete and utter aversion of GirlsAreReallyScaredOfHorrorMovies. She seems particularly fond of psychological horror and slasher movies, and can be described as a bit obsessed over them at times. It has been shown that on a couple of occasions, if something reminds her of a horror movie she could easily have a "Cool!" type reaction, though not always. Occasionally, this, combined with her normal [[CloudCuckoolander personality]], sides into NightmareFuelStationAttendant tendencies, as you might expect.

* BigScrewedUpFamily: The Fiametta triplets. One (Rosa) is pretty much the poster girl for LookingForLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces, and has been known to hit on AnythingThatMoves, another (Frankie) regularly uses drugs, and the last, and the one male out of the three (Ilario), not only is heavily pressured by his father, but has to look after the other two in spite of actually being the ''youngest'' (albeit by a matter of minutes), and is somewhat neurotic as a result. Add to that mix a clueless stepmother with no emotional connection to the children whatsoever and a father who only really cares about his son, showing it by... insisting that he ''must'' perform well at school and more or less ignoring his daughters, and you get this trope.

* ReallyGetsAround: Rosa Fiametta is an excellent example, and even comes complete with AnythingThatMoves tendencies. This has been explained as emotional issues, partly due to seeing herself as TheUnfavorite among her siblings.

* UsefulNotes/NativeAmericans: Clarice Halwood and Tyler Yazzie are fully or partially Navajo, and [[TheRez the Navajo reservation]] is only a few hours eastward of Kingman, Arizona, where the V6 high school is located.
** The Luz family (Emma, Sabrina, Lily, Eliza and Tina in the main game plus Crisanto and Haley in Pregame/Meanwhile) are all partially Native American, specifically Mojave, from their grandmother Avee.
** The fictional Cochise High School is named after an Apache chief.

* HalloweenEpisode: As pregame was set during the fall and early winter, several threads were set during Halloween, specially a costume party at Dani Bird's house.

* SmallNameBigEgo: Jimmy Brennan is a mixture of this and MilesGloriosus. He's [[BlatantLies definitely]] the most badass, [[RatedMForManly manly]], and awesome character on the island who can kick ANY ass!

* ManOnFire: Tara Behzad sets her arm on fire as part of a personal test after hearing the first announcement. [[spoiler:Coleen Reagan]] and [[spoiler:Alessio Rigano]] stumble through a campfire during a brawl and are both burned during the fight.

* WhipItGood: Brendan Bredard is assigned a bullwhip as a weapon, which he later uses to strangle Luis Chezinski to death.

* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: The [[CoDragons Big Four]] are the most dangerous of the terrorists, and [[spoiler:Tracen]] Danya himself is a military veteran.

* BreakTheCutie[=/=][[BreakTheHaughty Haughty]]: This happens ''a lot...'' Though given the nature of the story and the game, is that really so surprising?

* LaResistance: STAR, a militia comprised of escapees of past SOTF incarnations, who are dedicated to rescuing victims of the game and destroying the group behind it, the Arthro Taskforce. While they were absent in V5, the V6 prologue shows that they know about the newest abductions, and seem to be planning some kind of intervention. ''Survival of the Fittest'' is a roleplaying board based on ''Literature/BattleRoyale'', which began in June 2005.

The premise is simple: a class of [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent high-school students]] are abducted on the way to their end-of-year trip, fitted with [[ExplosiveLeash collars]], given randomly distributed weapons and are dropped onto [[DesertedIsland an unknown island]] to fight their former peers until [[ThereCanOnlyBeOne one remains alive]]. What ensues is drama, action, comedy, and most important, tragedy all rolled into a single [=RP=]. Gradually, over each "season", more and more secrets are revealed behind [[BigBad Danya]] and the terrorist organization which has managed to keep this twisted act running for over ten years.

[=SOTF=] is open for anyone to join - although there is a member approval process in place, as well as a rigorous character acceptance system.

Version 8 started on the 14th of October, 2022.

The roleplay is geared primarily towards intermediate-advanced level writers. However, [=SOTF=] is open for anyone to join - although there is a member approval process in place, as well as a rigorous character acceptance system.

* KillEmAll: The whole point of the game, being based on ''Literature/BattleRoyale'', is to force the involved students to kill each other off until there is only one survivor.
* KillTheCutie: Hey! Is there a character you like in ''Survival of the Fittest''? It's almost definite they won't make it to the end, thanks to the [[KillEmAll premise]].

* LittleDeadRidingHood: Carol Burke is usually seen wearing a red hoodie. Said character is a WideEyedIdealist in a KillEmAll type story. This trope has actually been [[WordOfGod confirmed by her handler]].

* RareGuns: The SPAS-12, Auto-Mag, Desert Eagle, and even the two-of-a-kind full-auto Pancor Jackhammer, all make multiple appearances.

* DangerThinIce: The island has a frozen lake. The area description makes it clear that while most of the lake is frozen enough to walk over itk, some parts have thinner ice, resulting in the danger of falling in.

Version 8 is planned to start around September 2022, with the final applications still open.

* Abandoned Mine: While the mine has been closed, the structure around it is still open for the students.

* AngryBlackMan: Troy [=McCann=] tends to drop into this from time to time. Notably, he ''intentionally'' made himself out this way in order to be more like the rap stars he idolizes.

* IllGirl:
** Blair Moore has cystic fibrosis, a lung condition which makes it unlikely that she will live past middle age under normal circumstances. She [[{{LampshadeHanging}} lampshades]] the irony of her life potentially being cut even shorter.
** Emma Luz has narcolepsy with cataplexy. As the game goes on, it's clear that stress from the game has impacted her physical (and likely mental) health. Aside from the [[{{Sleepyhead}} most famous symptom]], she also experiences {{Hallucinations}} and [[BitsOfMeKeepPassingOut cataplectic episodes]].
** Bernadette Thomas suffers from endometriosis, a condition involving misplaced menstrual tissue which causes her severe pain. Unfortunately, yes, she does has a flare-up in the game that leaves her out of commission for a while.

* YouSeeImDying: Blaire Moore brings up mid-conversation that, because of her [[IllGirl living with cystic fibrosis]], [[YourDaysAreNumbered that her days were numbered to begin with]]. It's a surprise for Rene Wolfe and Noah Whitley, the people she's talking to.
