* EveryoneIsGay: Or, at least, EveryoneIsBi. The number of same-sex relationships probably outnumber different-gender ones by about two to one. The roleplay is, to be fair, proudly inclusive.

* ArtisticLicenseAstronomy: Subverted. Hogwarts only teaches actual astronomy. No made-up bullshit here. Beware of math, however.

* TheCavalry: The professors, frequently.

* CoolShip: Half the school wants to live on Maz Hatter's ship on the Black Lake.
* CoolTeacher: Most of the professors have a case for being in this category.

* FantasticNuke: Noah Brown tried to do this with Transfiguration. It didn't work. Thank God.

* IDontLikeTheSoundOfThatPlace: The Forbidden Forest.

* DiscoDan: Professor Dobs was this to a tee.

* MindControlDevice: The underground lake water and the underground tunnel mud.

* SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic: The Hogwarts Potioneers Society experimented with potions regularly.

* RetiredMonster: Cyrus, the xenophobic ghost that terrorized the students during the first year of the roleplay, became the school's librarian and is quite happy to help students.

* InhumanlyBeautifulRace: Veela. By association, their children: Augustin Moreau and Valeria Chovnik are a couple of known half-Veela. Both of which have been known to be the cause of major [[SuddenlySexuality gay or bisexual awakenings]] for other characters.

* FatCat: A few of these running (lumbering?) around Hogwarts, including Sheng-li Feng's cat, Mungbean, and Sebastian Hawkins', Ollie.

** Adalia Audrey, when someone mentions her twin sister, Artemis.

* WackyRacing: How did Valeria Chovnik celebrate her [[spoiler: return from the dead]]? By terrifying first years with giant chocolate frogs and (literally, in some cases) roping them into ''racing them, horse-style, around the castle''.
** To be fair, the first years (plus late entrant Kenneth Avery) really got into it, going so far as to [[VehicularCombat sabotage one another with magic]].
** Naturally, Valeria won, and somehow, everyone pretty much got off scot-free, probably in a case of NoAdequatePunishment.

* EpicFail: Alexander Lyons' first attempt at flying ended up breaking his nose. Twice. The next day, Ivy Su knocked herself out with a shelf trying to cast a spell on a marshmallow.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: At the end of [[spoiler: the dramatic and dangerous Cyrus plotline]], "a crowd of people laugh generically," which was the perfect end to what was apparently just a huge sitcom episode.

* KillTheCutie: [[spoiler: Brian Badgerworth, beloved Head Boy of the Hufflepuff house,]] died by the hands of a mysterious figure. The death was so gruesome and unexpected, the entire server went into a silent state of mourning for the passing.

* OurElvesAreBetter: Dinky was the purest and best character in the whole server, the kindest house elf to ever grace Hogwarts with her presence.

* ParlorGames:
** The Firewhiskey Incident, which led Jem Hapunda to confess her love to Professor Star.
** The game of Truth or Dare at Amir's party, which caused Amir to send a love letter to the Glamii under Soufyan's name, Noah to drink a milkshake laced with wine and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and various other shenanigans.

* AmbitionIsEvil: A classic Harry Potter trope since the house of Slytherin prizes ambition, this is mostly averted in Model Hogwarts. Slytherins are mostly as nice as those in any other house, with a couple of noted exceptions, a current example being Klaus Kruger.

* CoolPet: Maz Hatter's alligators. Also, Evan Godfrey has a pet Runespoor.

* DisproportionateRetribution: Two Ravenclaw first year girls, Shane Mason and Quinn Gallagher, were caught attempting to steal a potion. Their Heads of House, the Glamii, punished them along with their completely innocent dormmates by instructing the house elves not to clean their dormitory. ''For an entire year.''

** In the aftermath of this, the teachers came up with the seemingly simple, foolproof and [[IShouldHaveDoneThisYearsAgo long overdue]] solution of placing an Age Line around the forest. A brilliant plan... except that it ''[[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom prevented anyone who was already inside the forest from getting out]].'' [[spoiler: Which resulted in Valeria Chovnik's death.]]

* InhumanlyBeautifulRace: Veela. By association, their children: Augustin Moreau and Donnie Petalgust are a couple of known half-Veela.

* ItsAllMyFault: After [[spoiler: Valeria Chovnik's death]] a lot of people have fallen into this mentality. Particularly those first years that went into the Forbidden Forest and the Professors.

** Also, since charms and potions for dyeing and colouring hair are relatively simple even for first years, it is fairly common for odd hair colours to be sighted in the halls even among non-Metamorphmagi. Recent examples include Quinn Gallagher and Ana-Maria Aureon.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: An Age Line around the Forbidden Forest following the dragon attack in 2024 was, to be fair, the perfect solution to students continually going in there. Unfortunately it stopped Valeria Chovnik from getting ''out'', and she soon [[DyingAlone died alone]] of exposure and blood loss.

* PowerTrio: A few examples of this, but one is Ricky Brown, Sanjana Ingram and Shane Mason. Together they are called the Mavericks and have a [[HomeBase secret hideout]] in the Portrait Hall at Hogwarts. They haven't actually done anything yet, but still. [[{{CatchPhrase}} "Mavericks forever!"]]
* PuppyLove: Model Hogwarts has many, many examples of relationships between students that are far more serious or advanced than their ages would suggest. Recent examples include Kylie Whitehorn/Wren Falsner and Ricky Brown/Quinn Gallagher.

* TooDumbToLive: A group of first years in 2024 (and one second-year). Ooh, there's a ''dragon'' living in the Forbidden Forest? Let's go looking for it! What could ''possibly'' go wrong? [[spoiler: They found the dragon, nearly everyone got hurt, and Valeria Chovnik ''died.'']]

* CoolPet: The best example of this trope was Valeria Chovnik's dragon, who she kept in the forest. One who she [[AdmiringTheAbomination absolutely adored]], despite his [[BewareOfViciousDog frequent attempts to kill her and everyone who met him]]. [[spoiler: Eventually, he succeeded. Rest in peace, Val.]]

* KillItWithWater: Valeria Chovnik would plug her dragon's nostrils and use Aguamenti on his head whenever he tried to char-broil anyone. [[TheDogBitesBack Typically, his response was to try to maul her.]]

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: An Age Line around the Forbidden Forest following the dragon attack in 2024 was, to be fair, the perfect solution to students continually going in there. * CoolPet: Lots of these.
** Evan Godfrey has a pet Runespoor.
** Maz Hatter's alligators.
** Valeria Chovnik has a dragon she keeps in the forest: one who [[BewareOfViciousDog frequently tries to kill her and everyone who meets him]].

* CursedItem: Played straight with every single item "gifted" to students by [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass Natalia Caline.]]
** In all fairness to [[spoiler: the now deceased Caline,]] she didn't know [[BoobyTrap the items were cursed and hurting students.]]

* DontGoInTheWoods: People still do try and enter the Forbidden Forest occasionally, despite (or perhaps because of) its name and reputation.
** In the IC year 2024 a group of first years (with one second year) did exactly that to look for a beast that ended up being a ''dragon''. See TooDumbToLive.

* InhumanlyBeautifulRace: Veela. By association, their children: Augustin Moreau, Valeria Chovnik, and Donnie Petalgust are all known half-Veela.

* PutOnABus: If the character of a departing or inactive roleplayer is too important or influential for ChuckCunninghamSyndrome to work, an in-universe explanation for the character's departure is often invented. Most commonly this takes the form of a transfer to another school, such as Durmstrang or Ilvermorny.

* TooDumbToLive: A group of first years in 2024 (and one second-year). Ooh, there's a ''dragon'' living in the Forbidden Forest? Let's go looking for it! What could ''possibly'' go wrong?
* WasOnceAMan: The 'Shadowy Amalgamation' which attacked students in the school halls [[spoiler: is implied to be a group of kidnapped experimentation victims. Also, they're all children.]]

* DontGoInTheWoods: Many people tried to explore the Forbidden Forest. A couple of repeat offenders were Calypso Casseo and Meryl Webb. At one point this occurred so frequently that the forest was surrounded by barbed wire which removed your hair upon touching it.

** Also the other dryads in the forest, which became evil for some reason.

* TheAllegedExpert: Healer Phil and Professor Dobs were both believed to be experts before running away to Ibiza.
* TheParalyzer: In the second in-character year of the model, the Full Body-Bind Curse, Petrificus Totalus, was popular amongst the more talented students for its ability to decisively end most fights without any lasting damage. Ivy Su was particularly infamous for judicious use of the spell. Medraut Prince favoured the Freezing Charm, Immobulus, which has similar effects.

* TornadoMove: At one point, Professor Mahoney, the Herbology professor, taught several students how to work together to create a dirt tornado.

** Most recently a group of first years (with one second year) did exactly that to look for a beast that ended up being a ''dragon''. See TooDumbToLive.

* TheCutie: This fits a number of characters, including Isabelle Reyes, Kylie Whitehorn, Marianne Blanchard and Mei-Xing Xue. All Hufflepuff females... hmm. I'm sensing a pattern.

* DoingResearch: Being Hogwarts, there are Ravenclaws, and with Ravenclaws comes a lot of research. Ariana Havelock, Noah Brown and many other students are particularly well-read.

* EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses: Adalia and Artemis Audrey are the daughters of the Duke and Duchess of Stamford in the Muggle world.
* EvilBrunetteTwin:
** On the one hand you have Jacques [=LeCartier=], a light-haired ray of sunshine. Then, on the other, you have his black-haired twin, Jacqueline, who frequently enjoys hexing people and torturing ants.
** Similarly, [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold golden-haired]] Artemis Audrey is pure and innocent. Her dark-haired twin, Adalia, is... not.
* ExpressiveHair: The Metamorphmagi in Model Hogwarts, most notably Christine Marilyn and Cecilia Evans, have this. They had to take time to learn to control these abilities, however.
** Along similar lines, KaleidoscopeHair.
* EyepatchOfPower: Professor Grant received one of these after losing his eye in an incident in Diagon Alley. Since he was absent from Hogwarts for a term in the meantime, this is also an EyepatchAfterTimeSkip.
* FantasticNuke: Noah tried to do this with Transfiguration. It didn't work. Thank God.

* HappilyAdopted:
** Phoebe was adopted by the Casey family in her second year, after a disastrous few years with her biological father.
** Wren Falsner was adopted by the Divination teacher, Professor Quigley.

* TheNapoleon: Riley [=MacAlistor=]-Kirkwood, and ''how.''

* PaperMaster: Noah has several animated, self-repairing paper hummingbirds. Which may not seem very threatening until they start papercutting your ear canal.
* PirateGirl: Maz Hatter. Nuff said.

* PuppyLove: Model Hogwarts has many, many examples of relationships between students that are far more serious or advanced than their ages would suggest. A few recent examples include Kylie Whitehorn/Wren Falsner, Miora O'Harris/Evan Pitham, and Ricky Brown/Quinn Gallagher.

* ScaryShinyGlasses: Ivy Su has glasses that glint threateningly in any sort of light. Also, Professor Wen.
* SchoolNewspaperNewsHound: Lisa Edgley has her own amateur paper, the Hogwarts Press.

* SocialServicesDoesNotExist: Played straight with a number of characters with AbusiveParents, but spectacularly subverted when Emrys Hughes is rescued from the Audreys.
* SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic: Noah Brown's primary goal for their school experience.
* SunnySunflowerDisposition: Isabelle Reyes is sweet, cheery and kind, and has a pronounced sunflower motif.

* TookALevelInJerkass: Klaus Kruger started as a fairly mild-mannered character whose main trait was his [[{{Sleepyhead}} comical tendency to randomly fall asleep]]. Then he became a jerk who terrorised Muggleborns and suggested werewolves should be put down. Bit of a personality change.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Sheng-li Feng is rarely sighted without her Dr Pepper.
* TrainingFromHell: Riley [=MacAlistor=]-Kirkwood was 'trained' by his grandfather. How? You don't want to know. Also, Adalia Audrey had... not the easiest upbringing.
* WasOnceAMan: The 'Shadowy Amalgamation' which attacked students in the school halls [[spoiler:is implied to be a group of kidnapped experimentation victims. Also, they're all children.]]
* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: No one exactly knows where Maz Hatter's accent is from nor how she got it, but everyone always misunderstands when she talks about her "shi'".
* WheelchairAntics: Artemis Audrey loves to discover all of the ways she can mess with her wheelchair, up to and including going so fast she almost bumps into Quinn.
* WideEyedIdealist: Mei-Xing Xue cannot possibly comprehend that anyone can have anything less than the purest motives.

* AcquaintedWithEmergencyServices: Alexander Lyons was quite friendly with the school's medic, and often joked about needing an infirmary loyalty card.

* AllLovingHero: Brian Badgerworth to a downright disturbing and insane degree, although that doesn't stop the entire server from loving him IC and OOC. Some of his exploits include:
** Teaching the owls in the Owlery how to sing, so that he can host an Owl Choir to calm everybody down from their constant fighting.
** Outfitting the infirmary with stuffed animals and various toys, so that the injured and sick would feel welcome.
** Picking an abused and abandoned kitten off the streets and raising it to trust humans again.
** Putting signs around the Forbidden Forest's edge in order to deter anyone from traversing the dangerous woods and getting hurt.
** Making pots shining with his radiance for the house elves in the kitchen to use.
** Helping Meryl and Conan mend their friendship.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Cora Ray, who gave a large number of students poisoned muffins, and was generally hated by most of the student body.

* AmbitionIsEvil: Both played straight and averted. Jesse Wellens and Cora Ray were both Slytherins and evil, but the other Slytherins are (mostly) nice people.
* BerserkButton: This applies to so many people it's hard to list them all. Here are some of the ones we've got down.
** Athalia Derwent when you accuse her of being racist.
** Don't ''ever'' do as much as imply that Professor Seward is (still) involved with dark magic or you will feel her rage.
** Ivy Su, whenever anyone loses points for Slytherin, acts in an idiotic way, tries to hug her, or damages books.

* BizarreTasteInFood:
** Ellis May loved preserved Gillyweed infusion in tea, although he choked on the concoction multiple times and had to go to the infirmary for it.
** Martyn O'Maloney usually ate vegetables covered in mayonnaise. When eating with Meryl and Conan, he instead covered his greens with ketchup to the blatant disgust of Meryl.

* {{Catchphrase}}:
** Laken Valentine's catchphrase was "For Science!", most often used when he did bizarre things, such as stealing a Professor's chair for an experiment.
** Ivy Su cornered the market on the word "Idiot."
* ConstantlyCurious: Many of the students. Most notably, Noah Brown asked the same Transfiguration teacher the same questions multiple times because they wanted to double check.

* CuteAndPsycho:
** Marilyn Ambers was a prime example of this with her innocent curls and love for knives.
** This also applied to Lemoney, Martyn's small and vicious pet parakeet.
** Sunny Nocturne was a little eleven-year old girl who showered all her friends with affection… and enjoyed killing small mammals in her free time.

* DoingResearch: Ivy Su was the epitome of this trope.

* FantasticAngst: Ivan Skelton's worries that Noah Brown would break up with them because he wanted to magically remove his emotions.
* FeatheredFiend: Model Hogwarts had several of these evil and treacherous creatures, the most noticeable ones being Oneries (Medraut's owl), Snowball (Conan's owl) and Lemoney (Martyn's parakeet).
* FedToTheBeast: Jesse Wellens set up five of his fellow students to be attacked by the ghost-entity Cyrus.
* FireAndBrimstoneHell: Allegedly where the Hufflepuff house is going to end up due to its massive amount of Slytherpuffs and its shifty prefects. See: Conan Lebrowsky as an example of both items.
* ForTheEvulz: Just about everything Cora Ray did.
* GeniusDitz: Martyn O'Maloney and music. Air-headed though he was, Martyn had memorized nearly every song and songwriter he had encountered.

* IdiotBall: Jesse Wellens went entirely unpunished for setting up a group of fellow students to be attacked by the ghost-entity Cyrus. Even though he shared a dorm room with two of them. Christ.

* MessyHair: Ivy Su never bothered with taking care of her hair.

* MyNameIsInigoMontoya: Ellis May introduced himself before, after, and during his duels, especially when it has to do with someone stealing his Gillyweed.
* NaughtyNurseOutfit: Meryl Webb was joked to have one of these due to being Lisbeth's healing sidekick.
* NiceGuy: Laken, Meryl, Christine, Ivan...
* NoodleImplements: Laken Valentine's tools for his experiments were exactly this. One notable set was Professor Seward's chair, a roll of cheese, a rope, and some silver.
* OffingTheAnnoyance: At times, Professor Seward could barely restrain herself from carrying out this trope.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: Laken had a pair of these, with one lens colored green and the other violet. Whether or not they offered protection from the glare of a Basilisk, we'll never know.

* ScaryShinyGlasses: Conan Lebrowsky was believed to have these, although it was never verified. However, his tendency to stand off to the sidelines and watch people like a creep didn't help deter this trope's applicability.

** Although on the other hand, since the opening few years of the roleplay, things have really quietened down on the life-threatening plot event front.

* SweetTooth: Leona Hart and Alexandra Pelekai both liked their snacks.

* TheAtoner: Professor Seward was a former Death Eater who was drawn into all this by curiosity and peer pressure. While she somewhat believed in the Ideology back then, she was free from that by the time of the roleplay and worked as a teacher to prevent the students from making the mistakes she did.
* TheParalyzer: The Full Body-Bind Curse, Petrificus Totalus, was popular amongst the more talented second-year students for its ability to decisively end most fights without any lasting damage. Ivy Su was particularly infamous for judicious use of the spell. Medraut Prince favoured the Freezing Charm, Immobulus, which has similar effects.
* TooDumbToLive: Through taunting and a slip of the tongue from Professor Seward, Alex Lyons found out that Professor Seward was a former Death Eater, and what did he do? He kept taunting her until she was angry enough to not just threaten him with torture and death, but to ''actually consider going through with this.'' Luckily, she kept her composure just enough to simply stun him instead of torturing him.
* TornadoMove: At one point, Professor Mahoney, the Herbology professor, teaches several students how to work together to create a dirt tornado.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Conan "Toast Lord" Lebrowsky ate toast in almost every appearance he made. He even owned a toast notebook, as if his obsession with the item wasn't already overwhelming.
* UnfinishedBusiness: Elizabeth Bathory, at the conclusion of her arc, left Hogwarts for bigger and badder things to do in the wizarding world.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: Martyn's twin brother, Bias, loved the internet and would tell Martyn how to do many dubious techniques that he found on the web. However, he did this through owl post rather than an earpiece.

* AwesomeAussie: Care of Magical Creatures Professor Veronica Calloway is Australian, built like a battlecruiser, and takes no nonsense from beasts ''or'' students.

* CircusBrat: Tom Constantine and Savannah Rey were both raised in a circus.
