Return to [[Recap/TheSmurfs Recap: The Smurfs]].

After the Smurfs hear a legend about a Smurf who was made invincible by magic water from Dragon Mountain, three particularly useless Smurfs decide to go there.
!!Tropes associated with this story include:
* AnimalMotifs: Wiliberto, the Baron's page, has a goat motif: makes everything with goat wool, and prepares goat cheese.
* ContinuityNod: The lord of the castle from "The Hungry Smurfs" re-appears. This time his title is specified as a Baron, though he still doesn't have a canon name.
* GetRichQuickScheme: The Baron wants to make the Dragon Mountain water flow to a swimming pool so he can make a spa that he thinks will make him extremely wealthy.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: The Scaredy Smurf twice sees a vision of the Hero Smurf who urges him to be brave. It could be the ghost of the Hero Smurf (unless he's just [[ShowWithinAShow fictional]]) or just a manifestation of the Scaredy Smurf's [[HiddenDepths inner courage]].
* MythologyGag:
** Having both the Clumsy Smurf and the Dopey Smurf as part of the main trio of the story might be a reference to them being a CompositeCharacter in the AnimatedAdaptation. It also confirms that it isn't the case in the comics, as it's the first time they appear together.
** The picture of young Papa Smurf has a brown beard, another nod to the cartoon.
** The Baron is older than in his first appearance, having a grayer beard, as a nod to the fact that his animated version [[NamedByTheAdaptation Mr. Poppery]] had a gray beard.
* ThrowTheDogABone: The three useless Smurfs, who mostly appear to be victims of or cause quick gags, this time are celebrated as heroes for saving the Smurf Village from a flood.
