Jokey Smurf is kidnapped by a couple of entertainers and is forced to commit burglaries by a local thief.

* BigShutUp: The Duke of Abelagot interrupts the play the Smurfs put on by suddenly pounding on the table and saying "ENOUGH!" when he realizes that the story of the play is revealing something too close to home.
* CallBack: To "The Finance Smurf" as why Jokey would rather steal sarsaparilla leaves instead of money.
* TheCameo: Smurfette is reduced to this in the story. Gargamel also gets one as he comes across the Smurfs in one of the towns they visit.
* EyesAlwaysShut: The nameless thief of Abelagot.
* FalseFriend: Ganelon is revealed to be this to the duke of Abelagot, having kidnapped the duke's son and held him hostage to extort a ransom from the duke. The Smurfs know about this and put on a ShowWithinAShow to expose Ganelon as a traitor.
