* ComicallyMissingThePoint: On hearing a phone ringing, Oscar gets out of the bathtub to answer. Excited at being informed about a "sure thing", he dashes out the door without putting on anything besides the towel around his waist. Then he dashes back into the apartment -- to grab the ''money.''

* NeverMyFault: PlayedWith. Early on after telling Felix that he's lost the cemetery plot, Oscar says that he was told the bet was a sure thing and if Felix wants to blame anyone, he should blame the horse. However, he does apologize for himself pretty soon thereafter. Unfortunately, [[RejectedApology Felix rejects said apology.]]

Added DiffLines:

Felix receives an offer to secure a grave plot he's been admiring, with an important proviso -- he has to give the cemetery a deposit by 4:00 that afternoon. Unfortunately, he has to leave the delivery to Oscar, who weakens upon hearing of a "sure thing" and loses the money on a horse race.
!!This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Oscar goes to the cemetery owner and tells him he'll pay $750 for the plot the new owner bought from under Felix, giving him a $250 profit. The owner points out that Oscar can't give the current owner anything if he doesn't know who he is. He insists that Oscar give ''him'' $250 in exchange for the information.
* HypocriticalHumor: Felix comes inside and chastises Oscar for being inside on a gorgeous day, looking at depressing things like funeral home calendars. Then he produces matching funeral urns.
* SecretlyDying: Referenced. When Felix tells Oscar that he wants him to answer the call from the funeral home, Oscar asks if he's been keeping something secret from him.
* ShoutOut: When Oscar is trying to interest the sulking Felix in a plot from another funeral home, he says that their representative [[Film/INeverPromisedYouARoseGarden promised him a rose garden.]]
* StrawLoser: Oscar takes the money for Felix's grave slot to bet on a horse. Said horse started off well, but ended up last, not even getting to finish by the time the race ended.
* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious: While angry with Oscar, Felix calls him "Mr. Madison."
* YouRemindMeOfX: A variant; the owner of plot 204 turns out to be a paranoid hypochondriac. Oscar points out the similarity between him and Felix, who is aghast enough to give up the pursuit to focus on truly living life.
